2005 Lamborghini Gallardo

The 2005 Lamborghini Gallardo was the second sports car model released on the US market. This supercar represents the good working relationship between Lamborghini and Audi AG (a division of Volkswagen). This Lamborghini Gallardo was designed to be an everyday driving car as well as a racing sports car.

Even if the entire assembly of the Gallardo was made in Sant’Agata, Italy at the Lamborghini factory, the engine and the body were shipped from an Audi facility located in Germany. The 2005 Lamborghini Gallardo is smaller than the Murcielago, but still provides high performance for a starting price of only $175,000.

We all are familiar with the Murcielago’s scissors-doors, but in the case of the Gallardo the designers created more conventional front-hinged doors. The body of the Gallardo is low benefiting from a mixture of sharp edges and curves that maintain the traditional style of the Italian company. At a first glance you feel the need to admire the cockpit blending into the car’s body, the so-called “tensed pillars” and the slanted windshield.

The interior of the 2005 Lamborghini Gallardo is comfortable and luxurious, despite its footwell that is very cramped. The leather is the material that covers the entire interior and all the piping is a match with the exterior paint of the car. All the interior panels are perfectly blended, but the rear visibility is limited. The buttery-soft Alcatara headliner gives the Gallardo’s cockpit the feeling of opulence. Definitely: the Gallardo’s interior is a perfect combination between the austere German influence and the Italian genes.

The real excitement comes from under the hood. The 2005 Lamborghini Gallardo is equipped with a 5.0 liters V10 engine with four valves per cylinder. This engine produces 493 horsepower at 7,800 rpm. Other engineering features are the drive-by-wire throttle and the six-speed gearbox that has an “E-gear” shifting. This supercar goes from zero to 62 mph in only 4.2 seconds.

The Gallardo is equipped with an independent suspension that uses wishbones in front and in the rear. Lamborghini uses the weight distribution system which improves the braking, the traction and the handling. In addition to this, the 2005 Lamborghini Gallardo is equipped with Pirelli PZero tires and offers a safety stability management (ESP), an automatic brake differential (ABD) and a traction control (ASR).

To drive this Lamborghini you need to have hand/foot coordination, but after you get used to it, driving is a real pleasure. On the road, the Lamborghini Gallardo performs very well even at its top speed of 493 horsepower, staying still on the pavement. If the adhesion limits are crossed, this sports car provides feedback, rather than snapping out of control. The 493 horsepower engine is almost easy to control and it combines the tuned springs, the Koni self-adjusting dampers and the stabilizer bars with a good four-wheel driving system.

The 2005 Lamborghini Gallardo pays great attention to safety measures as well. Beside the technical measures that help driver to properly handle the car on wet and slippery roads, the Gallardo is equipped with front side airbags with head protection for both the driver and the passenger in case of an accident. Other features related to safety provided by the Gallardo are the power windows, the electronic parking aid and the trunk anti-trap device.

Looking in the past of Lamborghini cars, the Gallardo continues the Italian tradition, but goes to the next level of refinement and quality showing us the way to an amazing and futurist style: a sports car that combines the spacecraft style with speed and comfort. That says it all about the 2005 Lamborghini Gallardo.
