Though we were expecting the new Citroen C5 to be presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show which just ended, looks like Citroen will keep us waiting a little more. We are not such big fans of Citroen, but we have to admit that we were teased by the C-Airscape concept presented at Frankfurt.
So, here’s a spy video of the upcoming Citroen C5, both the sedan and the wagon versions, caught while taken out on the streets, for testing. Unfortunately, there’s some heavy camouflage on the cars, so we can’t really tell to much about it.
You probably know about the upcoming Volkswagen Scirocco, we’ve also showed you some spy photos. But what you probably don’t know is that it seems that VW is also preparing a cabrio version. Well, first we have to see the coupe, but, from the photos, the cabrio will be even better.
VW hasn’t confirmed yet the convertible Scirocco, but it looks like it will hit showrooms in 2009 and will be based on the current Eos platform. Click on ‘Read More’ to see one more photo.

Here are the results from the latest crash tests made by Euro NCAP. Both the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Ford Mondeo had the same performances, scoring 5-stars ratings at adult protection, 4-stars for child protection and 2-stars for pedestrian protection.
Also tested were the Hyundai i30 and the Volkswagen Caddy ‘Maxi’, both receiving 4-stars ratings.
Officials at Ford stated that the upcoming Ford Kuga will be launched with only one engine, a 136hp 2.0L TDCi diesel mated with six-speed automatic transmission. The car will hit showrooms in May 2008 and towards the end of the year a 220 hp 2.5 liter five-cylinder engine will be available. Damian Oton, Ford’s medium cars brand manager said:
“The Ford Kuga will be a strong user-chooser product and we have made a conscious, strategic decision to have one body style, one engine and the one six-speed transmission.â€
Is it good, is it bad? Who knows, but I think this could be a mistake for Ford, because it narrows the choices and could lose a lot of customers over this. However, they also stated that they expect to sell only about 6,000-8,000 vehicles in the first year. But, also considering that the Ford kuga will be available in the United States, we expect a more powerful petrol engine to be available.

Volkswagen Eos won the Ladies’ Choice Award in a contest that took place on the British website Evecars.com out of 27 models that entered the contest. Alexandra Jenner-Fust, editor of Evecars.com says:
“The girls (and guy) on our judging panel were looking for a car that excelled in its own category, but our winner had to have wider appeal. With the Eos, Volkswagen has created a car that you can buy both because you love it, and because it makes perfect sense. It’s a convertible without the potential weakness of a cloth roof, is practical for four and is very attractive. With its sporty chassis, you would like to drive it every day.”

Toyota is planning to recall about 55,000 floor-mats because of about 40 complaints reports about the all-weather floor-mats not being secured and slipping under the acceleration pedal. You might find this funny, but this caused 8 crashes and 12 people were injured.
This problem affects floor mats sold with the Lexus ES 350 and the 2007/08 Toyota Camry, but also if you own a Toyota Prius, Avalon, RAV4 and Tacoma, make sure you check if your floor-mats are properly are properly secured. The most dangerous situations are those occurred at the Lexus ES 350 because the car has push-button ignition, so if you have any troubles you can’t just turn the engine off by turning the key. The floor-mats will be replaced in November. (more…)
