2012 BMW 3-Series Details Emerge
Courtesy of the German car magazine Auto Bild, we have fresh information about the upcoming 2012 BMW 3-Series (F30), which according to the report will make its official debut on October 14th in Munich and will go on sale in Europe in spring 2012.
The new 3-Series is going to be available with a wide array of turbocharged 4-cylinder engines as well as one 6-cylinder power unit. The entry-level 316i will have 134 hp (136 PS / 100 kW) and in Germany it will have a base price of 29,000 Euros. Next in the lineup is the 320i that will offer 181 hp (184 PS / 135 kW) and after that is the 328i with 242 hp (245 PS / 180 kW). The most powerful gasoline engine is a twin-turbo, 6-cylinder 3.0-liter that produces 302 hp (306 PS / 225 kW) and will be installed under the hood of the 335i.
As far as the diesels are concerned, the 316d will get a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit that develops 113 hp (115 PS / 85 kW) while the top-spec version for the moment will be the 323d. A more powerful 3.0-liter engine is expected to be launched later.
Also in the works is a greener Hybrid 3 variant that will have a 3.0-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor for a total output of 335 hp (340 PS / 250 kW).
