Chevrolet has brought its 2012 Corvette ZR1 model to the Nurburgring track in order to demonstrate the improvements brought over the old model. The car you see in this video is powered by a V8 6.2-liter supercharged engine that produces 638 hp (647 PS / 476 kW) and has a peak torque of 604 lb.-ft (818 Nm).

It managed to do a lap of the epic Nordschleife in 7:19.63, which is 6 seconds faster than their previous record which was set three years ago. In order to shave off those seconds, the top-spec ZR1 model has been fitted with the PDE performance package that sports a full-width rear spoiler that improves aerodynamics, along with a brand new set of Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure rubbers from Michelin.
