2012 Fiat Punto Announced

2012 Fiat Punto

If you were waiting for a new generation of the Fiat Punto, you’re going to have to wait for at least one year as the car in this picture is only a refreshed model. Set to make an official debut in a couple of weeks at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the 2012 Fiat Punto will go on sale in early 2012 and aside from the mild aesthetic changes, the most important novelty would have to be the addition of a 0.9-liter TwinAir turbo engine that fires 85 hp, along with an updated 1.3-liter MultiJet power unit that has the same output.

The first one offers the entire HP at 5500 RPM while the peak torque of 145 Nm is reached at 2000 RPM. This power unit is linked to a six-speed gearbox and the Italian automaker said that it will have CO2 emissions of only 98 g/km. The Punto TwinAir will have two driving modes: normal and eco, the latter meant to cut down the CO2 emissions.
