2012 Mini Coupe Spied

2012 Mini Coupe

It was due to happen sooner or later, the upcoming 2012 Mini Coupe was spied. Set to go into production later on this fall, the hatchless version of the popular Cooper was spied while going under tests outside BMW’s headquarters. I for one don’t understand the point of that psychedelic camo which really doesn’t hide anything as you can see the new retractable spoiler that is nested within the coupe’s trunk. Basically, there is nothing “hidden”.

Under its hood, the 2012 Mini Coupe will most likely carry the same engines already available in the lineup – those 4-cylinder 1.6-liter turbocharged units available with various power outputs. According to AutoBlog, the one that was spied earlier this week was a John Cooper Works (JWC) model, taking into consideration the upgraded brakes and the red calipers.

Most likely, the production version of the 2012 Mini Coupe will be officially launched this autumn in Frankfurt, Germany and the sales will commence at first in Europe and towards the end of the year, the coupe will be available for the United States market.
