2012 Toyota Hilux Goes Official
If you’ve been watching Top Gear, you probably know that the Toyota Hilux is one of the most reliable cars in the world. The car is back for the 2012 model year and the Japanese automaker implemented a more refined look, installing a new front fascia, an updated grille and a new design for the headlights. On the inside, there aren’t many changes, except for the revised trim, a new instrument cluster and a few tweaks for the 6.1-inch touchscreen.
The 2012 Toyota Hilux is available with the same 3.0-4D engine but it has received a new diesel particulate filter. In addition, customers can buy the car with an upgraded D-4D 2.5-liter that produces 142 hp (144 PS / 106 kW) and a peak torque of 253 lb.-ft (343 Nm), which is 24 hp more than before. Although this engine is more powerful, the engineers from Toyota have managed to reduce its fuel consumption to 7.3 liters / 100 km while CO2 emissions stand at 193 g/km.
