The 2013 Ford Explorer Sport Edition is powered by a V6 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engine that the Blue Oval says that it outputs “at least 350 hp”, but we don’t have any performance numbers. The engine is linked to a 6-speed paddle-shifted SelectShift automatic gearbox linked to a 4WD system that benefits from the Terrain Management System.

Ford said that the vehicle will be able to return up to 16 mpg (14.7 liters / 100 km) in the city while on the highway it should be able to do 22 mpg (10.7 liters / 100 km). Aside from getting a new engine, the Ford Explorer Sport Edition has a reinforced chassis and comes with a better handling. The vehicle is said to be stiffer than the standard model and it also has been fitted with larger brakes and solid-mounted electric power-assisted brakes.
