Audi A1 E-tron Triumphs At Silvretta Electric Car Rally
Audi A1 E-tron
The electric version of the Audi A1, dubbed E-tron, has managed to win this year’s edition of the Silvretta Electric Car Rally that was held on July 9th. This would have to be the second win in a row the German automaker managed to take the win as in 2010 they did it with the sexy R8 E-tron EV.
For those of you that don’t know, this was a 3-day rally that covered approximately 190 miles of Austria’s Montafon region. The designation “Silvretta” refers to a group of mountains located in the eastern area of the Alps. The rally features several altitude changes, including inclines of up to 15%. For this year’s edition, 32 alternative-powered vehicles signed up and another interesting model from Audi was the Q5 HFC that had a fuel cell, a car that managed to grab the sixth place overall but was the first in the fuel-cell cars category.
The Audi A1 E-tron was driven by Franciscus van Meel, who is the head of electromobility strategy at Audi AG, along with his co-driver, Gerhard Gruber.
