Chevrolet Volt Outsells Nissan Leaf, Again

The 2011 Chevrolet Volt has managed yet again to outsell the 2011 Nissan Leaf. The good news for the Japanese automaker is that they’ve managed to sell almost five times more Leaf in comparison to February, but they still are far behind Chevrolet. In March, there were 906 plug-in cars sold: 608 Volts and 298 Leafs, which is a lot more from February’s sales of 281 and 67, respectively.

Kia Working On Golf GTI Competitor

2008 Kia Pro Cee'd

Kia’s next step in conquering the mainstream European brands is to launch a hot-hatch that will rival the VW Golf GTI. The automaker’s management told Autocar that a high-performance model is in the works. Most likely, the foundation of this new car will be based on the next-generation three-door Cee’d (aka Pro Cee’d), whose appearance will probably be influenced by the Koup concept, which is a 2-door fastback cope that was revealed in 2008 at the New York Auto Show.

New Pics With The Audi S6

2012 Audi S6

Our colleges from autocar.co.uk have managed to grab a couple of spy shots with the forthcoming Audi S6. The automaker’s super-saloon is going to be more civilized and refined in comparison to the predecessor. Similar with the regular A6 that became more luxurious in the latest generation, the S6 will be more elegant, while at the same time offering more oomph under the bonnet, thanks to its new V8 turbocharged 4.0-liter power unit.

Certain Autobahn Stretches Might Get Speed Limit

We all know that the Autobahn is one of the last places where we can drive at very high speeds, without having to worry about getting a ticket. Well, slowly but surely, this dream of ours is dying. The voters in the German state of Baden-Wurttemberg, which is the home to both Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, have elected the Green Party to power, and there could be some consequences to the famous Autobahn.

BMW M8, Featuring McLaren F1’s V12 Engine

Probably one of the coolest cars ever made by BMW is the 8-Series. Add to this the M8 badge and the result is epic. Unfortunately, the car never made it into production and remained only a prototype. The German automaker did launch the 850CSi, which had a modified version of the 850i’s V12 engine, featuring 380 hp from its 5.6-liter displacement, which was bigger than on the regular 850i.

EV Batteries Go 3D

It is very possible that the future of electric vehicle batteries will be 3D. Several researchers from the Colorado State University have managed to develop a battery with a three-dimensional interior architecture that uses nanowires in order to store twice as many lithium ions in comparison to a conventional lithium-ion battery. Amy Prieto, who is the team’s leader, said that this prototype is about the size of a cellphone battery and needs only 12 minutes for a full recharge.

Forza 4 Video Leaked Online

Ever since Turn 10 launched Forza 2 I’ve been a big fan of the series. This year, we’ll be able to play the fourth iteration of this game, which should hit the retail stores sometime in October. Probably the most important addition to this game is the Kinect support, which will allow players to open the car’s doors and hoods with hand motions and fire up the engine from the driver’s seat. During a race, with the help of Kinect, players will be able to look around corners every time they move their heads. Pretty interesting, but irrelevant for a game of this magnitude.

What Can You Buy With $275,000?

Well, you could buy a house, a supercar, or a… book! That’s right, a $275,000 book. You all know that Ferrari rolls out some of the most expensive cars in the world, but launching a book that costs more than one of their models is simply ridiculous, at least that’s what I think, regardless of the content, package, etc. Dubbed “The Official Ferrari Opus”, it has a whopping price tag of $275,000 in its most expensive version. Opus Media Group, who is the publisher, said that it is “the most exclusive book in the world.”

Range Rover Evoque Pricing & Specs Detailed

Range Rover Evoque

The British automaker Land Rover has revealed all the pricing information of its new and sleek Range Rover Evoque model, probably the only SUV/crossover that I really like, besides the Mercedes ML-Class. The car will be offered with a choice of three power units, two body styles, three design themes, along with a bundle of accessories and options. The most affordable model will be the 5-door eD4 Pure, fitted with a 6-speed manual gearbox and 2WD, which will set you back at least 27,955 pounds. The 3-door version that has the same engine has a base price of 28,950 pounds.

Ouch! Audi RS5 Safety Car Causes Serious Crash At Le Mans Race In France

Not a good way to advertise a car, for sure. During the Le Mans series race in France, the Audi RS5 safety car caused a massive pile-up crash at the Paul Richard High Tech Test Track last weekend. Why? Because it didn’t pull off the track after a green light.
