Wow is all I could say when seeing the photos of the upcoming 2010 Honda Civic. A while ago we showed you the facelift for the 2009 Honda Civic.
What can we say about the 2010 model? It breaks the bland styling of its class once again. It is even more aggresive than the one on sale now, and this can only make us very happy. The visibility in the back will be improved in order to address some complaints about the crrent model. ALso, there will be a clear diffenrence between the 3 door and 5 door models, each aimed for a different target group.
The Type R is also in the works, so I can’t wait for 2010. How about you? Check out one more photo after the jump. (more…)

Good news to all of you in the USA who were worrying about the rising education costs. The upcoming Volkswagen Routan comes with a new incentive: a $1,500 deposit into a uPromise account, which is a site with a scheme for saving money for college. So far, so good because VW already has 6,000 clients before the sale even starts.
In case you were wondering about the VW Routan, let me shed some light. It’s the result of a pretty strange alliance, being built by Chrysler for VW and it has a choice of 3.8 liter and 4.0 liter engines. The outside is typical VW, along with the interior. It is facing some very tough competition, especially from Chrysler itself. So stay tuned, as we’ll keep you posted on the return of the VW minivan to the USA.

Just one day after you started planning on getting the Nissan Murano Convertible, here is another one for you to consider: the new Infiniti G37 Convertible. The first official images were released today by Infiniti. The car will have a folding hard top and the same 3.7 liter and 330 bhp engine and will debut in November at the Los Angeles Motor Show and will be on sale in early 2009.
No official word on whether it will be available in Europe, but there is a rumor that it might.

Just when you thought that the BMW X6 was weird, here comes another gem for the road: Nissan Murano Convertible. They guys at Edmunds learned about this first and broke the good/bad news for the rest of us. Seems that the roof will be canvas in order to keep some weight down on an otherwise pretty heavy car. As far as the engine goes, we’ll the same old 265 bhp 3.5 liter engine. The convertible should hit the stands in 2010. And we’ll be able to delight our senses with a prototype in 2009. This should give you time to save, since the price is said to be more than $40,000, which is the price of a top spec 2009 Nissan Murano. I can “hardly” wait! How about you?

The new Hyundai Tiburon is coming out in September. Those of you attending next year’s Frankfurt Motor Show will see it first. Apparently it will be inspired by the Velostar concept, at least from what we’ve seen in these spy shots, taken in May. It will be built on the i30 platform with front wheel drive. The body style seems good looking. Hyundai finally ditched the shapeless or extremely shaped styles of the past. The car has a shooting break form, so it should appeal to those who can’t afford the more expensive brands. The Coupe will go on sale soon after it is unveiled. No word on the prices yet, but there shouldn’t be any excesses there.

Well, I bet you said many times that the Smart is a small car. Too small for you. That you’d like to be an ecological angel, but there is not enough room in the car. From today, you have no more excuses. Guess who bought a Smart car ? Shaquille O’Neal just got himself a Smart Convertible. Since the guy is 7 feet and one inch, or 2.16 m tall, the only version that would fit him is the convertible one.
So there you have it. No more excuses for you not to save the planet. Check out one more photo after the jump. (more…)

In case you haven’t heard, the Tesla Roadster is the first electric sports car to enter production soon. Finally we can say good bye to all the ugly little cars and save the planet in a stylish and sporty way. But untill you can make your deposit for the car, you can see how it performs in the crash tests. Even though they were unplanned ! Looks like the first Tesla crash took place in San Francisco. Fortunatelly nobody got injured, but the poor car got squashed between a Mercedes and a Toyota Camry. That’s a shome, considering that only nine Tesla cars were manufactured so far. You can see for yourself in the photos what happened.
Would you buy one ?

Since we are growing more and more environmentally conscious, Audi is readying its A1 model. It’s a small car, who aims to compete with the Mini. It is thought very important for Audi, but it’s based on a corporate platform, the same as the one used for the new Seat Ibiza and the VW Polo. So in the end you will pay for the trim and badge. It will have an independent back suspension, though.
There will be plenty of engines to choose from, including petrol, diesel and hybrid. The petrol engines will be 1.2 and 1.4 liter, the diesel will be 1.6 and 2.0 liter and the hybrid will be powered by a 1.4 liter petrol and an electric motor.
So let’s hope that the quality will make it a winner over the Mini. We’ll have to wait and see.

This is some news for most of you, isn’t it ? RAV4 has been a great combination between on road and off road abilities. However it has a bland image. Not anymore ! The new Toyota RAV4 SR180 aims to bring the sporty looks as well to the model.
It’s meant to be an affordable high performance alternative. It has a 175 bhp, six speed transmission, together with a diesel engine. Which should mean that it is economical as well. The Rav4 SR180 gets to 100 km/h in 9.3 seconds.
The starting price is around $46,000. The list of standard equipment is long and it includes 18 inch alloys, run flat tires, dark-tinted headlamps,
Integrated Active Driving, Bluetooth connectivity, dark tinted glass, fog lamps, cruise control and a lot more. There are also a lot of personalization options.

More news about the Lotus Eagle. In case you don’t know, it is the future 2+2 coupe from Lotus which is set to be unveiled at the British Motor Show in London. This should bring a whole new array of customers to Lotus, since the car will add some practicality to pure sportiveness.
The Eagle is slightly bigger than the Elise and 8 centimeters shorter than a 911. Due to this, you can finally fit a golf bag in the trunk. The engine will come from Toyota, so reliability should not be an issue. It will have 276 bhp, so plenty of power for everybody. The candy will come in about 2 years, with the release of the convertible version.
Until then, enjoy the coupe!

Here’s another update about one of my favorite cars. Hopefully, I’ll be one of the first to drive one through Europe and join the same club as Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Until that day comes, here are the drag cars for the Mopar Mile-High Nationals near Denver, Colorado. The starting point was the Dodge Challenger SRT8. However the cars are striped down to save weight. Dodge has removed the body sealer, sound deadener, undercoat, wipers, air bags, rear seats, power steering, exhaust and protection beams from side and rear. Looking at this list we understand why they are meant to run down only on a 1/4 mile track. More than that it might get kinda tiresome. In total the cars lost about 1000 pounds of weight.
Also, the engine has a new position and stronger mounts. The engines are 6.1 or 5.7 HEMI or the 5.9 Magnum Wedge. Mopar will built about 100 cars. As far as pricing goes, brace yourselves. It is in the spirit of American affordability, starting at around $30,000. This has to be a part of the American dream!

The Nissan GT-R Touchdown in the USA
The Nissan GT-R seems to become something of an urban mith. Everybody is talking about it, but few have seen it. Now some Americans can say for sure that they know it exists becuase Nissan has finally delivered the first car to an American customer.
Daryl Alison was given the keys one minute after midnight. We hope he wasn’t too tired after all the waiting and the late hour to go around for a spin. There is a long line behind Daryl waiting to feast on the 480 horse power car. There are 1700 cars already ordered in the USA, and it seems not everyone is affected by the ever increasing price of gasoline.
The GT-R gets to 100km/h in around 3.5 seconds and it is said to have gone around the Nurburgring in 7 minute and 29 seconds, one of the best times in history.

These days it seems that there is no need to advertise a car. Just mask it up, tip a few paparazzi and then see all the publicity unfold in car magazines. Seems that VW is going down this road, having its future truck model spied once again, this time getting even interior shots. This time they were testing brakes and cooling in the Alps.
Even though the test were happening in Europe, I’m sorry for all fans but you won’t see the Robust pick-up truck in Europe at all. It will be sold only in North America, plus Argentina, Brazil & South Africa. So Europeans will have to do with the Japanese trucks for now. Volkswagen Robust will be made in Argentina and will hit the American showrooms in 2009.

After much anticipation and lot of waiting, the prices for the new Audi Q5 have been announced. The car will be in the showrooms in late 2008 with a price tag starting at 38,300 Euros. It is in the same price range as its competitors BMW X3, Volvo XC60 and Mercedes GLK. Quite a crowded market for the once only member BMW X3.
We can choose from one petrol engine and two diesels. The petrol powerplant is the 2.0 TFSI with 211 bhp. It takes 7.2 seconds to get to 100 km/h and the fuel consumotion is 8.5 litres/100 km on average. The 2.0 TDI has 170 bhp and gets to 100 kn/h in 9.5 seconds. The 3.0 TDI has 240 bhp and gets to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds, with a fuel consumption of 7.5 liters for 100 km.
