Back in 1972, the German automaker BMW founded its M division and to celebrate the 40th anniversary they have decided to launch a limited edition of the M3, dubbed Competition Edition. Only 40 cars will be made and all of them will go to the United States. All cars will be identically-equipped and they will carry a price tag of $81,060 so it’s going to be more than $21,000 pricier than the regular M3 Coupe.

The BMW M3 Coupe Competition Edition is powered by the same V8 4.0-liter engine that produces 414 hp and is linked to an M DCT double clutch gearbox that allows the coupe to reach 60 mph in only 4.5 seconds.

The car’s height has been reduced by 10 mm and it rides on 19-inch M3 GTS rims with wider offset for extra stability. In addition, the car has a revised Electronic Damping Control, while the M Dynamic Mode has a higher-threshold programming.
