BMW plans to sell 100,000 M3s

Recently official announced, the BMW M3 will go up on sale in September. The new high performance coupe from BMW will be powered by a 420 hp V8 engine that takes the car from 0 to 100 km/h (60 mph) in 4.8 seconds and has a top speed limited electronically of 250 km/h or 155 mph.

In a recent interview, Carsten Pries, the BMW’s M division product manager said that BMW plans to sell over 100,000 M3 models. These plans are based on the growing popularity of the M3, with the past generation selling better and better (from 18,000 units, the first generation E30, to the latest E46, which sold in 90,000 units). However, competition is taugh, with the BMW M3 facing the Audi RS4 (which offers the best day-to-day experience so far), the recently launched Mercedes C63 AMG and the upcoming Alfa Romeo 159 GTA.
