Car Auction Results

In May 2011 took place in Cernobbio, Italy the first European car auction organized by RM. The car auction results made it possible for this auction house to record sales of 23 million Euros by selling 32 high quality cars (six of these cars from the Bertone car collection).

The star of this 2011 RM car auction was the incredible 1955 Ferrari 375 MM Berlinetta which convinced its new owner to pay €3,360,000. This classic car is equipped with a 4.2 liter V12 engine able to produce 320 horsepower and a four-speed manual transmission. It was restored by Wayne Obry and is the last model manufactured by Pinin Farina. The second best sold classic car was the breathtaking 1938 Talbot-Lago T150-C SS sold for €3,136,000. This amazing classic car is equipped with a 3.9cc V6 engine able to produce 140 horsepower, a four-speed gearbox, an independent front suspension and four-wheel drum brakes. It was completely restored with the help of a talented team that used interior upholstery similar to the original one and carefully repaired the wooden trim and the instruments.

Another spectacular sale was that of the 1957 Ferrari 500 TRC Spider which impressed its new owner and convinced him to spend €2,800,000. This is a classic sports racing car equipped with a 1.9 liter DOHC four-cylinder engine able to produce 190 horsepower. It also features a four-speed manual transmission and two Weber 40 carburetors. This is the 6th of the total of 19 cars ever built. Another expensive Ferrari sold was the 1959 Ferrari 250GT LWB California Spider sold for no more and no less than €2,520,000. This Ferrari impressed its new owner with its exterior design, its powerful 2.9 liter V12 engine able to produce 240 horsepower and its four-speed manual gearbox. It was recently restored and won the Platinum Award-level standards from the Ferrari Club of America.

The 1967 Lamborghini Marzal part of the Bertone collection was one of the most interesting cars auctioned. It features a V6 engine able to produce 175 horsepower, a five-speed gearbox, antiroll bars and many other incredible engineering components. The new owner paid €1,512,000 for this landmark example of the futuristic Lamborghini design. Another classic car which was sold for more than one million Euros was the 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabriolet A. This classic car comes equipped with a V8 engine able to produce 180 horsepower, a four-speed manual transmission and an incredible blue exterior color. It convinced its new owner to pay €1,400,000.

The outstanding sales of this 2011 RM car auction continued with the auction of a 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 Competition Spider included in the Bertone collection and sold for €672,000. This car is one of the three vehicles built using a 2.9 V6 engine able to produce 140 horsepower and a four-speed manual transmission. Another classic car sold was a 1957 BMW 507 which convinced its new owner to pay €728,000 and is equipped with a 3.1 liter V8 engine and a four-speed manual transmission. It’s one of the only 250 models built and was fully repaired by a previous owner.

Another favorable car auction result was registered because of a 1970 Lancia Stratos HF Zero which managed to convince its new owner to spend €761,600. This incredible classic car is the functioning prototype of Marcello Gandini design being the first successful rally car. It was fully restored in 2000 and features a 1.6 V4 engine able to produce 115 horsepower, a five-speed gearbox and a futuristic design. The auction also hosted a 1939 Delahaye 135 MS Grand Sport Roadster which was sold for €784,000.
