Used Car Mazda Mpv

Nowadays, many people choose to buy a used vehicle because of the lower prices that allow them to purchase a better car. If you need a minivan then the used Mazda MPV models might be what you need, especially the Mazdas manufactured after 2000. You just need to know what these Mazda models offer and you will realize you should definitely buy one.

The Mazda MPV is a minivan Mazda started producing in 1989 as a rear-wheel drive model. But during its production, the Mazda MPV suffered different changes that determined the specialists to consider three different generations: the first generation between 1989 and 1999, the second one between 2000 and 2006 and the third from 2006 until nowadays. The Mazda MPV is the first minivan that became available on the US market and was called the “go anywhere” minivan. The first generation models were able to carry up to eight passengers (a new feature for a minivan) and were equipped with a V6 engine and a manual transmission. Once it was released, the MPV was sold very quickly, but after Toyota and Nissan released their van models on the market, Mazda started losing points.

In 2000 an improved second generation of the Mazda MPV was released. The engineers decided to use the new V platform called Ford Windstar. The van featured now dual sliding doors, a third row of seats that could be folded and roll-down power windows. This Mazda MPV was equipped with a 2.5 liters V6 engine able to produce 170 horsepower. For the 2002 models, Mazda replaced the engine with a 3.0 liter Duratec engine able to produce around 200 horsepower and added a five-speed automatic transmission. The 2004 Mazda MPV received a new exterior design and became available in three new trim levels: the GX, the GS and the GT version. The exterior design was improved with the help of new headlights and Altezza clear taillights while the interior featured a new steering wheel and gauge surrounds. As optional features, the buyer could choose antilock brakes, a rear-mounted spoiler, leather seats, DVD player and rear air conditioning. In 2006 the production of Mazda MPV was stopped for the USA and European market.

The third generation was released in 2006 in Japan and is available nowadays on the Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Malaysia and Thailand markets. This generation of Mazdas is equipped with a 4 cylinder MZR 2.3 engine or a turbo engine version. In 2008, the car suffered some exterior changes that involved a new front bumper and new fog lights. Inside the third generation Mazda MPV features leather upholstery, heated mirrors, a power moonroof, CD player and cruise control.

So, if you decide to buy a used Mazda MPV model you should do a little research in order to find out more details about a specific model. Nowadays, the prices for a used Mazda MPV vary from $779 to $2,344 for models manufactured between 1989 and 1999. The second generation is much interesting and comes with a lot of improvements. That’s why people are more interested in these models, especially those who live in the USA and Europe. A used Mazda manufactured after 2000 usually has a price that varies between $3,288 and $10,102 depending on the model, the year and the features available.

When you decide to buy a used Mazda MPV, you should try to find a well-maintained model and keep in mind to check if the model you choose is equipped with an automatic transmission. No matter what used Mazda MPV you buy, you will get a reliable family car.
