Cars We Hate Part 6 – Ford Scorpio Mark 2

It looks like a frog and is based on an old Ford Sierra, could it get any worse than that? The funny thing is that Ford created this model in order to compete in Europe with Mercedes and BMW in the executive car segment. With looks like that, you can imagine how popular the car was. Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson wrote in The Times that the Ford Scorpio was the ugliest car on the road at that time.

Before the production ended in 1997, Ford dealers were offering huge discounts to the top-spec models in their attempt to get rid of all the remaining cars. As a funny fact, the Blue Oval never released the sales figures of the Scorpio, claiming that all expectations have been met, yeah right.

wrong again (atleast in the USA) as the Scorpio we had here which was the 5 door was quite a trendsetter even if sales were flat…

  2. How can a car be a trendsetter if sales are low? And if it was as you say, what trend are you talking about?
