Citroen and Peugeot have cut EV price tags
Citroen C-Zero & Peugeot iOn
Citroen and Peugeot have reduced the price tag of the Citroen C-Zero and Peugeot iOn EVs by 6,939 pounds to 21,216 pounds, taking into account the 5000-pound plug-in car grant offered by the UK government. Both French automakers have said that the availability of the cars will be improved, as Peugeot said that the iOn will be available in 23 dealerships, while Citroen stated that its C-Zero is going to be sold at 11 dealers. Peugeot and Citroen have also launched new contract hire rates that cost from 249 pounds / month for a 3-year plan with 30,000 miles.
Both EVs are motivated by a rear-mounted electric motor that generates 64 hp, and both of them share the same 16 kWh, 88-cel lithium-ion battery which is installed under the center of the cars. Using a domestic socket will take six hours to fill up the battery pack which should be enough to offer a range of up to 93 miles with the condition that the AC system is turned off. The range of both cars while using the AC in high-traffic conditions is of approximately 46 miles
Starting with next year, both Peugeot and Citroen will launch electric vans, as the former will introduce the Partner electric van, while the latter will begin selling the electric Berlingo van. Both of them are going to be available in the United Kingdom with an 8,000 pounds EV grant offered by the government.

Earlier this week Peugeot released a teaser for the 208 GTi Concept, and now we have a new batch of photos and official details about the hot hatch which is scheduled to make its official debut on March 6th at the Geneva Motor Show.
Under the hood of the 208 GTi is a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that pumps out 197 hp (200 PS / 147 kW) and 203 lb.-ft (275 Nm). If these figures sound familiar, you should know that Peugeot borrowed this engine from the sexy RCZ THP 200. It is linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox which enables the car do to the 0-62 mph sprint in less than 7 seconds.
Compared to the standard version, this hotter GTi edition brings some mild updates like the sill skirt extensions, lower bodywork spoilers and a brushed aluminum “GTi Concept” logo sitting on the grille as well as on the quarter panels. Inside the cabin of the Peugeot 208 GTi Concept we find LED backlighting and a flat bottomed steering wheel wrapped around in perforated leather.
Even though that this is a concept, most likely the production version will be announced soon after Geneva and it will probably look a lot like this concept.

Peugeot 208 XY Concept announced, can change its color!
This year’s edition of the Geneva Motor Show will be organized next month when the French automaker Peugeot will be bringing its 208 range. Aside from the already known 3- and 5-door hatchbacks, the company will also be bringing the 208 GTi Concept and this 208 XY Concept.
Peugeot considers this as an urban chic vehicle that is wearing a unique “Pulsion” livery which can change its color depending on how close you are sitting near the car. They managed to do this by applying no less than 16 coats of paint and lacquer. Aside from this cool paint, the Peugeot 208 XY Concept is riding on dual effect 18-inch alloys as well as a panoramic glass roof.
The concept is powered by a 1.6-liter e-HDI engine that is capable of producing 115 hp and is linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Peugeot 908 HDi FAP
Today we have some sad news coming from PSA Peugeot Citroen as they’ve announced to withdraw from endurance racing because of the difficult economic conditions in Europe. By taking this move, PSA will focus more on the upcoming car model launches. This decision is also part of the company’s plans to save $1.03 billion (800 million euros) and to slash 6,000 jobs this year, according to Reuters.
The Peugeot 908 prototype race managed to grab 14 victories in 16 races, the most important one being in 2009 when they obtained a double win at the demanding 24 Hours of Le Mans. With this victory, Peugeot managed to end Audi’s five-year consecutive winning streak.
The good news is that Peugeot will still take part in the World Rally Championship (WRC). Too bad that we won’t see them at Le Mans anymore. Hopefully, in the future they will come back in this competition and they also should consider returning to F1.

As most of you know, the Peugeot 208 isn’t available yet at the moment in dealerships but the French automaker has already planned a special edition of this model which will be sold as the Ice Velvet. They will make only 650 units that will be sold in 18 European countries. 208 cars will be sold in France for 23,500 Euros a pop.
This limited run of the 208 will be available only as a three-door model and it will wear this name due to its bespoke, satin finish paint. The bodywork of the car will adopt several chrome details, along with fog lights, a black finish for the grille, side mirrors and a panoramic roof. In addition, the 208 Ice Velvet is going to wear bright chrome on the exhaust pipe and the window surrounds, and it will ride on 17-inch alloys that aren’t available for other models in the company’s lineup.
As standard, the car will be offered with a panoramic glass roof that will have blue guide lights, along with LED daytime running lights, satellite navigation system, a big touchscreen located on the center console, sports seats and automatic climate control.
Peugeot said that the car will be available with a choice of two power units, a 1.6-liter gasoline unit with 120 hp linked to a 5-speed manual transmission, and a 1.6-liter diesel that develops 115 hp and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Earlier this week Peugeot revealed the facelift for the tiny 107 model, which brings better fuel efficiency, an upgraded interior cabin and lower CO2 emissions. On the outside we notice the new design of the front bumper that now has a deeper lower front panel, along a new shape for the fog lights housing and LED daytime running lights, something that you haven’t seen before on a car in this class.
The small three-cylinder gasoline engine of the 2012 Peugeot 107 has CO2 emissions of only 99 g/km. Moving inside the cabin, we should mention that the facelift version comes with better equipment like AC as a standard feature on the Active trim level, while the Allure versions now have Peugeot Connect Bluetooth and USB, a rev counter and alloy wheels as standard.
The Peugeot 107 was introduced back in 2005 and since then the French carmaker managed to sell more than 650,000 units. The 2012 version will be arriving in dealerships next month for a base price of 7,995 pounds.

Both Peugeot and Citroen have decided to take a rather different approach to rival the rise of Dacia, Renault’s budget sub-brand. The French automakers will be rolling new models and maybe new sub-brands in a couple of years.
Peugeot is planning on launching a budget sedan that will cost somewhere around 8,000 pounds and will be sold in developing markets in Europe, North Africa, China and Latin America. Codenamed the M3, this new affordable sedan will be 4.15m long and will probably be sold under the Talbot badge which was last used by the automaker back in the 80s.
Citroen will also work on its own version of this M3 which will probably be sold in China taking into consideration the success of the brand there. Citroen also plans on launching the M4 which will share the underpinnings of the M3. The new model will be a simple yet functional car that will come at a more premium price tag and they’ve already outlined their vision for this upcoming model with the Lacoste and C-Cactus concepts.
According to various sources, this model and any variants of the M4 that might be launched in the future will complement the DS range. It shouldn’t be a surprise if the M4 will be a reskinning of the M3’s interior cabin with better trims and materials.
Thomas d’Haussy is Citroen’s product planning chief and he said that the automaker is working on a car that will not have “all the equipment, but with the things that are most important.”

Peugeot 308 successor scheduled for a 2013 release
According to the journalists from Autocar, the successor of the Peugeot 308 will be launched sometime in 2013 and the model will get the 301 designation, not the 309 as you would expect. These are the first photos of the car which were taken in the France and Spain border region and as you’ve probably guessed this already, it’s an early chassis mule that is running the body of a current-generation pre-facelift 308 model.
Just like they did with the upcoming 208, Peugeot will make the replacement of the 308 more elegant and it will have more compact proportions. In addition, the weight of the car will be lowered while the interior will get better materials. The 301 will be available with several 3-cylinder engines.
Autocar’s sources have mentioned that the reason why the French automaker will not use the 309 name is because it’s too soon to resurrect it since the last time they’ve used it was in the 90s. As for the 301 name, Peugeot used it the last time in the 30s.
The new model will feature the same platform as the Citroen C4 and DS4, and from these photos we can tell that it will be a little bit wider and shorter than the model it will replace. In addition, the car will probably be lower than the 308.
The bad news in my opinion is that Peugeot doesn’t plan on launching a three-door version of the 301. However, the five-door will benefit from a sportier look in order to compensate the absence of a three-door version. The French car maker will release the SW five-door version of the new model, along with a four-door sedan for selected markets.
There won’t be a CC (coupe cabriolet) model of the Peugeot 301 because the automaker plans on launching a retractable hard-top version of the superb RCZ, a vehicle which is based on the current platform of the 308.
The entry-level engine for the Peugeot 308 will probably be a small 1.0-liter turbo unit that develops 100 hp. The car will also be available with new 3-cylinder engines and a few units that will benefit from the e-HDI diesel micro-hybrid technology which will lower the CO2 emissions to less than 100 g/km for most of the variants.

Peugeot 208 revealed
I really liked how the Peugeot 206 looked like when it first came out, but I can’t say the same thing about its successor, the 207. The French automaker has found again the perfect recipe for the supermini with the 208 which looks absolutely wonderful from every angle. According to Peugeot, the all-new 208 model represents the “most ambitious specification overhaul” that the company has made to a road car, with the new model being sleeker and considerably lighter than the outgoing 207, even though the wheelbase is identical.
Peugeot has heard the complaint the 207 it got due to its rather high curb weight and the inert handling, and for the new model they’ve tried to adopt some of the driving characteristics that the old 205 had.
The lightest variant of the Peugeot 208 weighs only 975 kg, which makes it 173 kg lighter than the 207. The new model measures 3960 mm long so it’s 70 mm shorter than the model it replaces, and it’s also 10mm lower, standing at 1492 mm. As we said before, the wheelbase has remained the same, measuring 2540 mm, despite the fact that the exterior dimensions have been reduced, while the interior cabin is now roomier. In addition, the trunk space has also gone up by 15 liters, up to a total of 285 liters.
The French car maker stated that the new 208 comes with a better interior and they’ve focused their attention on higher quality materials and a simple style. The steering wheel is now smaller, while the instrument panel has been elevated. It also comes with a touchscreen cabin control that makes the vehicle more driver-focused.
Gone are the 1.4- and 1.6-liter engines of the 207 as Peugeot will replace them with economical 1.0- and 1.2-liter VTi power units. The most efficient gasoline engine of them all will be able to return 65.7 mpg UK and have CO2 emissions of only 99 g/km. The horsepower figure will range between 75 and 100 hp.
The Peugeot 208 will be offered with a choice of five diesel engines, some of which will get the company’s own “micro-hybrid” technology that reduces fuel consumption. Four of these engines will also get the stop/start system, and the most frugal of them all will return an impressive 83.1 mpg UK and have CO2 emissions of just 87 g/km.
The car is scheduled to go on sale in the United Kingdom in the summer of next year in both the 3- and 5-door versions. Later on in 2012, based on the three-door model, Peugeot will launch the hot 208 GTI model.

After it debuted at the middle of September during the Chengdu Motor Show, the new Peugeot 308 Sedan is now available on the Chinese market and it is the company’s third model in the last eighteen months which has been developed for China, after the 307 and 308 sedans.
The car is produced locally with the automaker’s partner Dongfeng Motor Corporation and it is available with a choice of two power units. The first one is a 1.6-liter engine that develops 106 hp and has a peak torque of 142 Nm, while the other one is a beefier 2.0-liter that churns 147 hp and a maximum torque of 200 Nm. Both of these engines can be mated to either a manual or an automatic gearbox.
The French carmaker says that along with the aforementioned 307 and 308 sedans, they will be able to sell 150,000 units in the C-segment next year, which will account for approximately 60% of the company’s total sales in China. For the first full year, Peugeot wants to sell 60,000 units of the recently introduced 308 sedan model.

The French automaker Peugeot has unveiled its new 4008 model which will be available solely as a 4×4 model in Europe and will feature three drive modes: LOCK (permanent all-wheel drive), 4×4 and 2×4. The compact SUV was previewed in the HR1 Concept and is based on the Mitsubishi ASX platform.
As far as the engines are concerned, the 4008 will be offered with a 1.6-liter gasoline unit that produces 114 hp (115 PS / 85 kW) and a peak torque of 112 lb.-ft (152 Nm), along with a more powerful 2.0i that churns 148 hp (150 PS / 113 kW) and 146 lb.-ft (198 Nm). Both these engines come mated as standard to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
If you prefer diesels, the Peugeot 4008 can be ordered with a 1.6 HDi that generates 109 hp (110 PS / 82 kW) and 199 lb.-ft (270 Nm) of torque. There’s also a beefier 1.8 HDi with 148 hp (150 PS / 110 kW) and 221 lb.-ft (300 Nm). These diesels are linked as standard to a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Peugeot 4008 will get its official debut next year at the Geneva Motor Show and is scheduled to go on sale in Q2 2012.

Spy Shots – Peugeot 2008
The French automaker Peugeot is working hard on a new model which will go head-to-head with the Ford Kuga. Our colleagues from Auto Express have managed to grab a few spy shots with the SUV which will most likely be called 2008. The car is developed in collaboration with Mitsubishi and it is in faced based on the ASX model of the Japanese car company. This is not the first collaboration between PSA and Mitsubishi as the Citroen C-Crosser and the Peugeot 4007 are both based on the Outlander.
Most likely, the 2008 will preview design elements of the replacement for the outgoing 207 model so we should expect to see a front grille that looks similar to the one on the 508 as well as a prominent badge. Inside, it will probably be more premium and clients will be able to choose from a longer list of optional goodies, including satellite navigation.
The Peugeot 2008 will be launched sometime in 2012 and it will be available with a bunch of gasoline and diesel engines. Citroen will also launch its own version and the price tag for both models is expected to start from somewhere around 16,000 pounds.

The Peugeot 207 is getting older and will soon reach the end of its cycle so the French automaker is working hard on its successor, the 208 which will probably make its official debut in October. Until then, all we have is these spy shots of a 3-door 208 prototype that previews a production version that will hit the dealerships in mid 2012.
Rumors say that Peugeot will launch a hot 208 GTI version that will be powered by a 1.6-liter turbo engine which will develop 197 hp. Looking at these spy shots, we notice that the company has borrowed a few design cues from its 508 sedan, along with other styling ideas from the HR1 and the SR1 roadster.
We won’t have that annoying oversized nose in the new model as it will probably adopt a more elegant and sleek look, just like the one in the aforementioned SR1. According to company insiders, although the dimensions of the car will be smaller, the room inside the cabin will not be reduced at all, on the contrary, it might be even bigger than in the outgoing 207. In addition, the car will probably be 100 kg lighter than the model it will replace while the interior is going to be significantly better as far as the materials are concerned.
Aside from that 197 hp engine 1.6-liter engine, the new Peugeot 208 will be available with a 3-cylinder gasoline unit, a bunch of frugal diesels, while the stop/start system should be available for all of these engines. In the future, the 208 will probably get an SUV-inspired model as well as a hard-top cabrio.

Peugeot brought this year to Frankfurt its hybrid 508 RXH model which is the crossover variant of the 508 SW. It will carry a base price tag of more than 30,000 pounds and will be motivated by a 2.0 HDi engine – the one you’ll find in the 3008 HYbrid4- which will power the front wheels, along with an electric motor that drives the ones in the back.
The car will have a combined fuel economy of 67.2 mpg UK and will have CO2 emissions of only 109 g/km. The combined output of the power units is 200 hp, while the torque is 330 lb.-ft, and the car will allow the driver to choose from one of the four following modes: automatic, zero emissions, sport and four-wheel drive.
Compared to the aforementioned 508 SW, the new hybrid 508 RXH has different dimensions as it features a 40 mm wider track while the height has increased by 50 mm. The vehicle will feature a head-up display, electric front seats, 18-inch alloys, dark-tinted acoustic laminated side windows, a panoramic glass roof and a half-leather trim – all as standard features.
The diesel/electric hybrid exhibited at the Frankfurt Motor Show is a part of a special launch edition that Peugeot plans on rolling out. Only 300 cars will be made and 10% of them will go to UK customers when the car will be available starting with the spring of next year. Each of them will be individually numbered and will wear a brown exterior paint finish, along with a leather and Alcantara interior cabin.
