I’ve always been a big fan of the Skoda Octavia RS and it’s nice to see that from time to time tuners do their work on this model. Milotec has developed a tuning package and styling kit for the hatchback version of the model which looks great.

They have installed a new front grille and matching headlamp covers, an updated front bumper that has a lid spoiler, a rear apron, carbon wrap for the roof, diffuser and a new boot spoiler. As you can see, the Octavia 2 RS by Milotec rides on a new set of 19-inch alloys that have the same color as the body of the vehicle. These rims are wrapped around in 225/35 R19 Hankook S1 Evo tires. They’ve also fitted the fast hatchback with an H&R sporty suspension kit that brings the car closer to the ground.

The new sports exhaust system can be installed on both gasoline and diesel versions of the Octavia RS which increases the output by 5%. The tuner has developed a new ECU for the model powered by the 2.0-liter TDI engine which increases the output to 200 hp.
The Volkswagen Group is trying really hard to increase the global sales of Skoda and their newest step is this Rapid model which is an entry-level model and is going to be manufactured at the company’s Pune plant located in western India. With this model, VW hopes that they will increase Skoda’s worldwide sells to 1.5 million (at least) cars annually by 2018.
Initially there were some reports that the Rapid is going to be the production version of the MissonL that Skoda unveiled last month during the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany, but this does not seem to be the case as the Rapid is nothing more than a rebadged version of the Indian market variant of the Volkswagen Vento, also known as the Polo sedan.
It got its name from a mid-late 1980s rear-engined Skoda coupe and it will be positioned between the Fabia and the Octavia (Laura). It is a 5-seat vehicle that measures 4.39 meters long, with a width of 1.70 meters and a height of 1.47 meters. The Rapid’s trunk volume is almost 500 liters which is pretty decent for a car of this size.
The production of the car started last Sunday and sales are expected to commence towards the end of this year. Clients will be able to choose from one of the two 1.6-liter power units available: a gasoline and a turbodiesel engine that produce 103 hp (77 kW).
Skoda’s list of models isn’t extensive so it is good news to hear that they plan on producing the Citigo, which is a city car based on the VW Up! It will go on sale in mid-2012 in the United Kingdom for a base price of about 7,000 pounds. This is going to be the first model in the company’s strong product roll-out that will result in a brand new model every six months. The Czech automaker plans on selling 1.5 million units annually by 2018, which is almost double than the 762,600 they’ve managed to sell last year.
Skoda Citigo
The design of the Citigo is inspired by the styling of the current Fabia as well as the MissionL and VisionD concepts we’ve seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It has a finned front grille set in a chrome-plated frame. The car measures 3,560 mm long, 1,650 mm wide and it is 1,480 mm high, while its wheelbase is 2,420 mm long, which should be enough in order to accommodate four passengers. The cargo room is 251 liters and by extending the rear seats you get 951 liters.
The standard 59 hp engine will be able to return 62.8 mpg UK and will have CO2 emissions of 105 g/km while the beefier 74 hp power unit will do 60.1 mpg UK and 108 g/km. More frugal Green Tec variants will also be available for both engines. The first one will do 67.3 mpg UK and 97 g/km, while the 74 hp will return 65.7 mpg UK and 99 g/km. As standard, these engines will be linked to a manual transmission, but clients will also have to possibility to choose an automatic gearbox.
Skoda Citigo
Inside the cabin expect to find satellite navigation which will come in the form of a 5-inch detachable and portable touchscreen, along with Bluetooth and a whole bunch of storage compartments. In addition, the Citigo will benefit from the company’s all-new brake assistance system for collision avoidance.
Part of the New Small Family city cars developed by Skoda, the 3-door Citigo will be the first model to be launched, which will be followed later on by a 4-door model that was previewed in the VW Cross Up! In addition, Skoda is also taking into consideration an electric variant of the Citigo but nothing is certain at the moment.
Skoda Citigo
The car will be produced starting with next month at the company’s factory in Bratislava and it is scheduled to go on sale in Czech Republic this year, ahead of its European roll-out which will occur in the summer of 2012.
Presented last year in Paris, at the French Motor Show, the first fully electric Skoda is taking steps to becoming a certainty. Skoda announced that the Octavia E Line has gone into production and, this fall, they will produce 10 cars which will be used as a trial version of the emissions-free technology. The point of this test is to evaluate how Skoda will further implement the technology and how it will use it to lower its average CO2 emissions.
“Emission-free mobility is one of our key goals for the future, and my opinion is that electric vehicles are the right answer o the increasingly stringent emission limits”, said Skoda’s board of directors member for Technological Development, Dr. Eckhard Scholz.
The Octavia E Line is based on the Octavia Combi, and it features a 26.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack placed under the floor and an electric motor with a constant output of 60kW (80HP) and a maximum power of 85kW (110HP). Its torque of 270 Nm or 199 lb-ft is available immediately, as it is will all electric cars.
Skoda’s first electric cars accelerates from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 12.0 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 135 km/h (84 mph), while its maximum range is about 140 km (87 miles).
Since electric cars are very quiet, Skoda added a sound generator that simulates the noise of a regular internal combustion engine at speeds up to 40 km/h (25 mph) in order to warn pedestrians. Without it, accidents would happen more often.
What do you think about the new electric Skoda? Would you buy one if it was made into a commercial vehicle?

Skoda took a heavily modified Octavia vRS to the Bonneville Salt Flats and managed to reach a top speed of 202.15 mph (325.33 km/h). The engineers from the company’s team in United Kingdom along with REVO Technik fitted the car with the 2.0-liter TSI engine from the VW Group and they’ve tweaked it in order to output 500 hp (507 PS / 373 kW).
However, in one of their previous announcements, Skoda said that this engine will fire between 542-592 hp (550-600 PS / 405-441 kW) and a peak torque of 332 lb.-ft (450 Nm) while using high-octane fuel as well as 26-28 PSI of boost.
The guy behind the wheel was journalist Richard Meaden and he hit that speed during the Bonneville Speed Week.
This week, Skoda revealed its plans to bring a specially-modified Octavia vRS to the Bonneville Salt Flats. The one-off car was developed in collaboration with REVO Technik and is powered by a 2.0-liter TSI gasoline engine that benefits from a Garret turbocharger. By using high-octane race fuel, the engine will be able to develop 549-592 hp (550-600 PS / 405-441 kW) and a peak torque of 332 lb.-ft (450 Nm).

The company says that the Octavia vRS will be able to hit a top speed of over 200 mph (322 km/h). In order to accomplish this, Skoda’s engineers have installed a limited slip differential and a K&W coilover suspension that reduces the car’s ride height by 80mm. In addition, the car will ride on 15-inch steel rims that have aerodynamic covers, wrapped around Goodyear Eagle Land Speed rubbers.
It will also feature fire extinguishers, a parachute and a roll cage in order to meet the safety regulations imposed by the SCTA – Southern California Timing Association.
Skoda and Laurin & Klement have teamed up again, this time for dressing up the Superb Combi model and they’ll unveil it at this year’s Autosalon Brno. It was created in order to be one of the most luxurious cars from Skoda, featuring chrome exterior accents and a new set of bespoke 18-inch alloy rims. The interior benefits from Magnetic Brown leather upholstery, stainless steel door sills and a piano black trim.

Customers will be able to choose from one of the three engines available: two gasolines and one diesel. The first gas engine will be the 2.0 TSI unit that produces 197 hp (200 PS / 147 kW), along with a more powerful V6 3.6 FSI that generates 256 hp (260 PS / 191 kW). If you prefer diesels, you can opt for the 2.0 TDI CR DPF unit that churns out 168 hp (170 PS / 125 kW).

During this year’s Worthersee event, Skoda has revealed its Fabia vRS2000, a concept especially developed for this tuning show. The concept is based on the company’s Super 2000 rally car and has been transformed as you can see, into a roadster, which means that this probably is the first open-top rally car in the world in which you can take three of your best friends.
Skoda Fabia vRS 2000
If we compare it to the standard vRS, this concept has significantly wider wheel arches and track, a new hood that sports two vents that cool down the engine, along with updated front and rear bumpers.

Besides this concept, Skoda also brought to the 2011 Worthersee event the Fabia RS and the Fabia Monte Carlo.
If you didn’t know, the man in this photo, Gerhard Plattner is the current world champion as far as economy driving is concerned. His latest achievement is driving this Skoda Fabia GreenLine from Austria to Denmark without stopping to refuel the eco hatchback. In other words, the Fabia’s 45-liter gasoline tank was enough to cover a distance of 1,246 miles (2,006 km).
His trip started on May 10 in Reutte, Austria, arriving in Bov, Denmark and after that going back. Most of the distance was done on motorways and the tiny 1.2-liter diesel engine under the hood of this Fabia GreenLine managed to average just 2.2 liters / 100 km (106.4 mpg US / 127.8 mpg UK).
To make sure that Plattner won’t refuel the car during his trip, the journey was supervised by the International Police Motor Corporation that also sealed the Fabia’s tank before starting the trip.
Inspired by the design language of the Vision D Concept, this is a study of a rally car created by Pavel Hruby for the Czech magazine AutoDesign&Styling. The vehicle show what a new rally car from Skoda would look like, and is based on the latest design idiom which we saw last month during the 81st edition of the Geneva Motor Show.
The exterior of the rally car features the traditional sharp and precise edges that were adapted for a rally car that has less constraints regarding production feasibility. AutoDesign&Styling commissioned this project and it was published in the latest issue of the Czech magazine, with the title “Go, Skoda, Go!”

Skoda Working On Up!-Based City Car And Low-Cost Sedan
The first results of VW’s new strategy for the Skoda brand are beginning to show as the Czech automaker will launch a new affordable sedan model that will be placed between the Fabia and the Octavia. This new model will target developing markets and will most likely be a competitor for the Dacia Logan. The car will be launched sometime in 2012 but first Skoda will roll out a city car based on VW’s forthcoming Up! series.
According to Skoda both the small sedan and the city car will be “practical vehicles with an optimal offer of space and an outstanding price/value ratio.” The Czech automaker also confirmed the fact that the styling of their forthcoming cars will be influenced by the VisionD concept car that was revealed at the beginning of this month in Geneva.
Both models will play an important role in Skoda’s plan to double its annual sales to 1.5 million cars by 2018. In 2010, they’ve managed to sell 762,000 units, a record for the company. Almost 50% of these cars were Octavia models (350,000 units).
During the company’s annual press conference, Skoda confirmed that they will introduce two new models. Although there aren’t many info available at this moment regarding these two new cars, one of them will be most likely a city car that will have its debut later on this year. Nothing is official at the moment, but our bet is on a rebadged Volkswagen Lupo / Up! with updated grille, headlights and bumpers.
This city car will most likely be offered with a choice of a 1.0-liter gasoline engine and a 1.2-liter diesel that develops 74 hp (75 PS / 55 kW), as well as a more powerful 1.2-liter TSI that outputs 84 hp (86 PS / 63 kW). Rumors say that Skoda will also roll out later on, a EV variant of this city car that will be fitted with an electric motor that churns 80 hp (82 PS / 60 kW) and 155 lb.-ft (210 Nm) of torque.
Next year, the Czech automaker will introduce a new compact to its lineup, which will be slot between the Fabia and the Octavia models. It has been described as a high-volume car that will be practical, spacious and will have an “outstanding price to value ratio.” We don’t know if this new car will replace the current Roomster.
The Czech automaker Skoda has revealed at the beginning of this week its new Fabia R2, a race-spec mode intended for the R2 rally category. The model is based on the series production Fabia and comes with many changes to the gearbox, engine, suspension and chassis.
In comparison to the production model, the Fabia R2 comes with a modified chassis and has a rally-tuned suspension. Under the hood they’ve fitted a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter 16v gasoline engine that produces 177 hp (132 kW) and 143 lb.-ft (194 Nm) @ 5,500 rpm. This power unit is linked to a 5-speed sequential gearbox developed by Sadev, while the R2’s electronics comes from Magneti-Marelli.
Skoda Fabia R2
The Skoda Fabia R2 Rally Car has been developed, tested and prepared for rallies for about two years. The Czech automaker teamed up with Impromat Car, a motor sports specialist that will also be in charge of distributing the car.
The model has received the FIA homologation and you can take it rallying right away, but first prepare to pay about $86,200 for it.
Last week we’ve mentioned that Skoda will introduce its new VisionD Design Study at the 81st edition of the Geneva Motor Show. With this concept, the automaker wants to drop its old style language in exchange for a fresh new bolder corporate design direction. The target is to highlight the company’s green line up while at the same time differentiate the brand from the rest of the car makers in the VW Group.
Skoda VisionD Concept
The first concept born under Skoda’s new design direction is the VisionD which has a simple and clean design, something that we will be seeing in future models. With an unobtrusive and taut design, the car looks pretty good in my humble opinion. The Czech company managed to emulate a class and sophistication that we usually see in more premium (aka more expensive) models. I really like the sharper, more dominant grill that we usually see in upper-segment cars.
Skoda VisionD Concept
Along with the new concept, Skoda also introduced their new logo which no longer has a natural green color pattern as they opted for a “SKODA Green” with a chrome contour. The idea behind this new logo and language design is to highlight the automaker’s growing strength on the automotive market.
Revealed back in mid-January this year, the Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo has made its first public debut at Geneva this week. This limited edition model was built in order to celebrate the rally’s 100th anniversary and comes with an exclusive exterior look. It features gloss black accents, a black roof and tinted lightning units, along with the more aggressive stance thanks to the installation of a lowered sport suspension and 16-inch alloy rims.
Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo
Inside you’ll find a rally-inspired look, sports seats, aluminum pedals, silver kick plates and a perforated leather steering wheel.
Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo
The car will be available with a bundle of engine choices. The entry-level 1.2-liter gasoline unit can produce 59 hp (60 PS / 44 kW) and 68 hp (69 PS / 51 kW). The more powerful 1.2 TSI engine outputs 85 hp (86 PS / 63 kW) and 104 hp (105 PS / 77 kW). There is another gas engine, a 1.4-liter that cranks out 84 hp (86 PS / 63 kW).
Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo
If you prefer diesels, the Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo edition can be fitted with a 1.2-liter TDI plant that offers 74 hp (75 PS / 55 kW) or a 1.6-liter with three output variations: 74 hp (75 PS / 55 kW), 89 hp (90 PS / 66 kW) and 104 hp (105 PS / 77 kW).
