Suzuki has introduced a new concept at the Geneva Motor Show last week, the G70 which represents the company’s idea of a new global small vehicle. Emphasizing on aerodynamics and a low curb weight, this concept is motivated by a tiny 800cc turbocharged gasoline engine that benefits from direct injection.
This power unit is linked to a CVT transmission and comes with the stop/start technology and brake regeneration, allowing the G70 to return 75 mpg UK in the combined cycle. If you remember, we’ve already seen this car at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show where it was called the Suzuki Regina. The new “G70” designation refers to the fact that the car is capable of having CO2 emissions of less than 70 g/km.
The Suzuki G70 is 3.5 meters long, and 1.6 meters wide, while it weighs only 730 kg. Compared to the company’s popular Swift model, the G70 offers 10% improved aerodynamics and implements various new manufacturing processes which use curved high-tensile steel elements for lowering the number of necessary parts while at the same time improving the car’s rigidity. Inside it comes with a staggered dash which permits more room in the cabin.
This is a car that the team here at rpmGo has always liked – the Suzuki Kizashi Sedan. It isn’t a huge success for the Japanese automaker but Suzuki is trying its luck with the car by introducing it to new markets. The latest entry would have to be United Kingdom where the car will be soon available.
2012 Suzuki Kizashi Sedan
UK citizens will be able to order model car starting with January 2012 for a starting price of 21,995 pounds. There’s only engine available and Suzuki has said that the company’s plans for next year are to sell 500 units in United Kingdom so they don’t get their hopes up too high.
2012 Suzuki Kizashi Sedan
The Suzuki Kizashi is powered by a 4-cylinder 2.4-liter gasoline engine that develops 178 PS @ 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 169.6 lb.-ft (230 Nm) reached at 4,000 rpm. The car is able to return 34 mpg UK (28.3 mpg or 8.3 liters / 100 km) on the combined cycle.
2012 Suzuki Kizashi Sedan
The car arriving in UK comes with a CVT gearbox and the company’s newest generation of the intelligent all-wheel-drive system (aka i-AWD) that can also be operated in a 2WD mode where the power is sent to the wheels in the front with a minimum amount of torque sent to the wheels in the back.
2012 Suzuki Kizashi Sedan
The car is going to be available in only a single trim level that offers as standard the sports package which includes a bunch of internal and external modifications, like the sport steering wheel, contrasting stitching for the parking brake boot, gear shift surround and for the leather seats. It also has a sport steering wheel, 18-inch alloys, lower body side chrome trims, body side sill extensions and other chrome accents.
2012 Suzuki Kizashi Sedan
The Suzuki Kizashi sedan features seven airbags as standard, along with Dual Zone automatic air conditioning, electric windows, keyless entry & start, MP3/WMA compatible CD tuner with 8 speakers, and folding heated door mirrors. The only available extra option for the car in the United Kingdom is going to be a touchscreen sat-nav system.
2012 Suzuki Swift Sport arrives in UK for 13,500 pounds
2012 Suzuki Swift Sport
The high-end version of the Suzuki swift lineup has arrived in the United Kingdom and it is scheduled to go on sale next month for 13,500 pounds. The Sport version of the Swift is motivated by a 1.6-liter VVT Euro 5 compliant gasoline engine that produces 136 hp and a peak torque of 118 lb.-ft (160 Nm) available at 4,000 rpm. This engine is mated to a newly developed six-speed manual gearbox that sends the horsepower to the wheels in the front.
2012 Suzuki Swift Sport
According to the Japanese automaker, the car needs 8.7 seconds for the 0-62 mph sprint, before hitting a top speed of 121 mph (195 km/h). The fuel consumption is rated at 44.1 mpg UK (36.7 mpg US). It comes with a modified steering system, a stiffer suspension setup and rolls on beefier 17-inch alloys that are wrapped around in 195/45R17 tires to enhance handling.
2012 Suzuki Swift Sport
The sportiest Swift comes with an attractive aerodynamic package that has a specially developed front bumper, a glossy black grille, a roof spoiler, revised rear bumper and more aggressive side skirts. In addition, the diffuser is more prominent while the tail pipes are bigger in comparison to the regular Swift.
2012 Suzuki Swift Sport
Inside the cabin, the 2012 Suzuki Swift Sport has sports seats that are covered in a bespoke model fabric, while the steering wheel has a three-spoke design. Some of the standard goodies we should mention include seven airbags, ESP, Bluetooth, cruise control, push button start, fog lamps, air conditioning and HID projector headlamps with headlamp wash.
One of the most frugal cars to hit the Japanese market is this Suzuki Alto Eco that promises to deliver an impressive fuel economy of 32 km/L (75.3 mpg or 3.1 liters / 100 km) in the local 10-15 test cycle and 30 km/L in the JC08 driving cycle.
JDM Suzuki Alto Eco
This petite city car is motivated by a tiny new Suzuki R06A 0.66-liter, 3-cylinder engine that comes with the stop/start system borrowed from the 3rd gen MR Wagon. This power unit is capable of developing 52 hp @ 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 46.5 lb.-ft (63 Nm) at 4,000 rpm. The horsepower is sent to the wheels in the front via the continuously variable transmission.
JDM Suzuki Alto Eco
The car will be available in Japan in two trim levels: S ($12,830) and L ($11,540). The JDM Suzuki Alto Eco will hit the dealerships in mid December.

What we have here in this article is the Regina concept which previews a new city car that will be slotted below the Swift in Suzuki’s lineup. The car will make an appearance later on this month at the Tokyo Motor Show which will be organized at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba City, Japan.
Suzuki Regina
According to Suzuki, the Regina weighs only 1,609 pounds (730 kg) and has a drag coefficient 10% less than the current models in this segment. Even though that this concept doesn’t have a powertrain, the carmaker has mentioned that with a conventional gasoline engine, the Regina is able to return 72.3 mpg (3.1 liters / 100 km or 32 km/lt in the JC08 test cycle), while the CO2 emissions would be of 70 g/km.
Suzuki Regina
This concept reminds us of the original Citroen DS and it measures 3,550 mm long, 1,630 mm wide and 1,430 mm tall, while the wheelbase measures 2,425 mm. The interior cabin has enough room for four people which sit in a very minimalistic ambiance dominated by various shades of green.
After a month since Suzuki revealed the first official photo of the new Swift Sport, we know have all the juicy details about the car, along with a bunch of photos taken during the first day of this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. When you first look at it, you’ll probably say that it looks like the standard version that has been going to the gym. The front fascia has a brand new grille and bigger air intakes. At the back, you’ll notice the two exhausts and the diffuser.
2012 Suzuki Swift Sport
The car is motivated by the same engine as the predecessor, in the form of a 4-cylinder 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated unit, only this time the output has increased to 135 hp from 125 hp, while peak torque is now 118 lb.-ft (160 Nm), up from the previous 109 lb.-ft (148 Nm).
2012 Suzuki Swift Sport
Not only did they increased the power of the engine, but they’ve managed to improve fuel efficiency as it now manages to return 36.7 mpg (6.4 liters / 100 km) while the model it replaces returns 33.1 mpg (7 liters / 100 km). In addition, CO2 emissions have been shaved off by 11%, from 165 g/km to 147 g/km.
2012 Suzuki Swift Sport
The entire horsepower is sent to the front wheels through the 6-speed manual transmission which has been created especially for this model. Regarding the rear suspension, it has been revised with greater toe as we all camber rigidity. In addition, for improving the stability of the car, Suzuki installed larger wheel bearings. The car promises to provide better handling thanks to the increased front & rear spring rates plus added rebound springs.
2012 Suzuki Swift Sport
The 2012 Suzuki Swift Sport will be manufactured along with all of the other models in the Swift lineup at the company’s plant located in Hungary. Sales will commence in Europe this October at a yet undisclosed price.
The 2012 Suzuki Swift Sport will make its official debut next month during the Frankfurt Motor Show but the automaker decided to reveal the first official photo of the car, along with some juicy details. The car looks just about the same as the concept we saw back in March at the 81st edition of the Geneva Motor Show which can only be a good thing.
The vehicle will be powered by a 1.6-liter M16A engine that was developed especially for this model. This 4-cylinder power plant generates 134 hp (136 PS / 100 kW) and has a peak torque of 118 lb.-ft (160 Nm). The engine will be linked to a 6-speed manual transmission.
The company stated that the Swift Sport will have “more responsive handling” thanks to the fact that it is going to feature an all-new rear-suspension design as well as internal rebound springs in the struts. Some of the other goodies that we should expect include the ESP, seven airbags and an impact-absorbing body.
Probably you all remember the 2003 Pepsi ad campaign, with Beyonce and J.Lo. as guest stars droving the two Suzuki Hayabusa with a special design. The news is that the motorcycle used by Jennifer Lopez is now up for sale at GBP19,995. And we are not talking about any motorcycle, but probably about one of the most desirable bikes on the planet.
The motorcycle looks great: it still has the dragon graphics and, additionally, it features LED lighting underbody, all so important for ladies wih good taste. As about the technical part, the superbike is well-preserved, it has 160 kilometers on board and it comes with a set of exclusive photos of the modification and processing time in Hong Kong.
So, this is the last chance for you to get your hands on this beauty on two wheels, as Beyonce’s motorcycle has been already been sold to a collector during a closed auction.
Here it is the 2003 Pepsi commercial:
Would you want this Suzuki Hayabusa J.Lo-Pepsi Edition for yourself?
If we were to believe a recent report that surfaced the Internet a few days ago, Suzuki will be rolling out the Swift Sport model at the beginning of next year. We don’t have many details to provide but it seems that the automaker’s Russian subsidiary has issued a press release in which it is mentioned that the car is going to be a 3-door hatchback designed after the S-Concept that was revealed at the 81st edition of the Geneva Motor Show.
Suzuki Swift S Concept
The car will probably be powered by a 4-cylinder, 1.6-liter gasoline engine that generates 134 hp (136 PS / 100 kW) and it will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or an automatic one.
If this report turns out to be true, expect an official debut of the Suzuki Swift Sport at the Tokyo Motor Show. We’ll keep you posted.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Suzuki SX4 and this special edition seems to be even more interesting. Available only in the United Kingdom, the X-EC version is based on the SZ4 trim level and packs a few more goodies.
Suzuki SX4 X-EC
For 13,430 pounds, this limited edition SX4 comes with a choice of various metallic paints: Cool White Pearl, Cosmic Black Pearl or Galactic Grey; along with color satellite-navigation system, USB port, Bluetooth, electric folding door mirrors, bespoke alloy rims, a rear privacy glass as well as a new design for the seat fabric.
Suzuki SX4 X-EC
The Suzuki SX4 X-EC is powered by a 1.6-liter gasoline engine that develops 120 PS and is linked to a manual gearbox. The engine is Euro 5 compliant and benefits from variable valve timing along with variable intake system, allowing the car to do the 0-62 mph sprint in 10.2 seconds. The 2WD version has a fuel consumption of 45.6 mpg UK.
Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Won By Monster Tajima
This year’s edition of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb was won by Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima, for the 6th consecutive time, rounding up the total victories to 11 since the first one which occurred back in 1988. The hill climb master drove a specially-adapted Suzuki SX4 that was powered by a V6 3.1-liter turbocharged engine that generates 912 hp (924 PS / 680 kW) and a peak torque of 656 lb.-ft (890 Nm).
In the final leg up of the popular course, he had to face some problems coming from a sudden loss of power steering and a blow radiator but in the end managed to hold on to the first place. What’s even more impressive is the fact that he is the first driver who breaks the 10-minute barrier, finishing the climb in 9 minutes and 51.278 seconds.
The difficult Pikes Peak challenge consists of 19.9 km where there are 156 turns, starting from an altitude of 9383 feet (2860 meters) and ending at 14,107 feet (4300 meters) where the summit of Pikes Peak is and where the engines lose 30% of their power.
Earlier this week, Suzuki announced that the Swift model is going to be available with a new 1.3-liter DDiS engine starting with next month. This 4-cylinder turbocharged power unit develops 74 hp and emits only 109 g/km of CO2, which is 9% less in comparison to the previous diesel engine that equipped the old Swift version.
Fuel consumption has also been improved by 8%, which means that the Swift can do 67.3 mpg (UK) combined and has a driving range of up to 500 miles. With this Euro 5 compliant engine, the car can do the 0-60 mph sprint in 12.7 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 103 mph.
The base model costs 12,890 pounds for the 5-door version and for this money you’ll get: 7 airbags, AC, 16-inch alloy wheels, heated electric door mirrors and an USB port.
If you live in North America and you are in the market for a very cheap car, here are the least expensive models that you can buy this year. All the prices are MSRP + destination charge:
01. Hyundai Accent GL – Starting From $10,705
Hyundai Accent GL
A little bit more expensive than the previous generation, but still the most affordable car you can buy, the Accent GL (formerly known as the Accent GS Base and Accent Blue) is what you would call a standard car. For the base model, you can forget about the AC system (another $1,000), power windows, automatic gearbox, radio, etc. If you want all of these, prepare to pay $13,415 for the Accent GS, but in this price range, you’ll find better cars. The Accent GL features a 110-hp engine and power steering. You need to know that in crash tests, it didn’t score so well and the safety equipment is quite limited.
02. Nissan Versa 1.6 – Starting From $10,740
Nissan Versa 1.6
If the Accent isn’t your cup of tea, maybe this Nissan Versa will do the trick. You get two more doors, more space inside the cabin and better resale value. The 2011MY comes as standard with door locks and power windows, but you don’t get a stereo or many options for the paintwork: only black, silver and blue. If you add AC, automatic gearbox and antilock brakes, the price tag jumps to less than $13,000. For $15,780, you can get the Versa 1.8 that comes with AC, stereo, cruise control and ESP.
03. Chevrolet Aveo LS Sedan – Starting From $12,685
Chevrolet Aveo LS Sedan
For the entry-level Aveo you’ll get AM/FM radio with MP3 player input jack, OnStar and AC. There are lots of colors to choose from and for $200 more, you can get the hatchback model. On the down side, the Aveo is not a very good car to drive, lacks safety equipment and if you add power windows and a CD player, the price jumps past the $15,000 mark and for that money, there are lots of cars to choose from.
04. Kia Rio Base Sedan – Starting From $12,990
Kia Rio Base Sedan
Just like the aforementioned Hyundai Accent GL and the Nissan Versa 1.6, it comes with a very short list of standard equipment. The engine is quite eager but the car’s non-power-assisted steering feels awful in the curves and you’ll have to work a lot while parking the car. The more expensive Rio LX ($15,690) comes with AC, ABS and a CD player. It does look better than the Accent and the Versa though, but not a very good car to drive.
05. Smart ForTwo Pure – Starting From $13,240
Smart ForTwo Pure
No AC, no power windows or mirrors, not even a stereo for the cheapest ForTwo. You do get automatic gearbox, ABS, ESC and side airbags. If you want the comfort features, prepare to pay another $2,000 for the ForTwo Passion.
06. Toyota Yaris 3-door Liftback – Starting From $13,615
Toyota Yaris 3-door Liftback
It offers a pretty good standard package that includes AC, ABS, ESP, along with an $800 optional automatic transmission. For $300 more, the 5-door version of the Yaris can be yours. It looks really good, it is easy to drive and thanks to its small size, you can squeeze it into small parking spaces.
07. Kia Soul Base – Starting From $13,995
Kia Soul Base
If you are in the market for a funky mini-wagon, the Kia Soul Base might be the solution for you. You’ll get as standard: power windows and locks, ABS, ESP and CD stereo with USB. You can choose from only three colors: black, white and silver. Under the hood there is a 1.6-liter engine that produces 122 hp and it can be mated only to a manual transmission. The car is pretty comfortable, safe and practical.
08. Ford Fiesta S Sedan – Starting From $13,995
Ford Fiesta S Sedan
Same price as the Kia Soul Base, and the latest model in this top. You get four doors, a pretty capable 120-hp engine, ESP, power steering, AM/FM + auxiliary input jack. The Fiesta is known as one of those cars that are very fun to drive and this S Sedan version is no exception. We recommend paying extra for the 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.
09. Suzuki SX4 Sedan – Starting From $14,244
Suzuki SX4 Sedan
The entry-level SX4 Sedan is a pretty basic car as you don’t get an automatic gearbox, AC, stereo and the only color available is white. However, you do get ABS, power windows and locks and a pretty potent 2.0-liter engine that cranks out 150 hp. It features a pretty big back seat and is very fun to drive. The styling is also quite nice.
10. Nissan Cube 1.8 – Starting From $14,740
Nissan Cube 1.8
The Nissan Cube 1.8 comes with a lot of standard equipment: AC, CD player, ABS, ESP and power windows and locks. The design is pretty cool and you get a lot of space inside the cabin. While some of you will like its cutting-edge style, others will disapprove.
Outside of this top 10 we find the Mazda2 Sport, with an entry-level model that will set you back $14,795; Hyundai Elantra GLS ($15,625); Kia Forte LX ($15,690); Scion xD ($15,765); the Mitsubishi Lancer DE ($15,755); Honda Fit ($15,850); Mazda 3i SV ($16,595); Nissan Sentra 2.0 ($16,270); Honda Civic DX Coupe ($16,355) and the Volkswagen Jetta S ($16,765).
As you can see, there are a lot of cars to choose from if you are looking for something very affordable that will get you from point A to point B. If we were to choose a car from this top 10, it would have to be the recently introduced Ford Fiesta S Sedan as it offers plenty of standard equipment and it looks pretty good. Plus, it probably is the most fun to drive car in this price range.
Today at the New York Auto Show, Suzuki unveiled two new concepts: the Kizashi Apex and EcoCharge.
Suzuki Kizashi Apex Concept
The first one is powered by a 2.4-liter engine that produces between 275-300 hp (205-224 kW). This power unit features a Garrett/Honeywell 2871 R ball bearing turbocharger, along with an air-to-liquid intercooler. Taking into consideration that the automaker wasn’t able to say exactly how much power this 4-cylider 2.4-liter DOHC produces, it means that they haven’t really tested the car a lot.
Suzuki Kizashi Apex Concept
As you can see from these photos, the Apex Concept sports Euro-spec HID headlights, LED fog lights and sits on 19-inch rims, covered by Yokohama S.Drive tires that measure 245/35/R19 on all four wheels. Inside the cabin, they’ve fitted the concept with a black leather finish that is complemented by a laser blue Alcantara trim for the steering wheel and the sport seats.
Suzuki Kizashi EcoCharge Concept
Moving on to the EcoCharge, it is a hybrid concept that couples a 2.0-liter engine (144 hp / 127 lb.-ft) with a tiny 15 kW electric motor. With the help of a 15 kWh lithium-ion battery, the fuel consumption drops by 25%.
Suzuki Kizashi EcoCharge Concept
The Suzuki Kizashi EcoCharge has a luminescent white-satin paint finish, with a light blue undercoat. It also sports new headlights, aluminum rims with low roll-resistance tires, and LED fog lights.
Suzuki Will Bring Two Kizashi-based Concepts To The NY Auto Show
2007 Suzuki Kizashi Concept
At this year’s edition of the New York International Show, the Japanese automaker Suzuki will bring two concepts based on the company’s Kizashi sedan. The first one is going to be a hybrid version, while the other will most likely be a tuned model with various styling cues inspired from Suzuki’s motorcycle division.
