Chevrolet Beat

A new Chevrolet car can be seen on the Indian roads. This car is a small wonder manufactured by Chevrolet and named Chevrolet Beat. This mid-range hatchback vehicle is ready to compete against other incredible small cars such as the Ritz, the Swift or the Hyundai i10.

The Chevrolet Beat was designed by the Chevrolet’s Design Studio in Bupyeong, South Korea and benefits from additional inputs offered through the global network of General Motors designers. It was revealed at the Auto Expo which took place in New Delhi and uses the same platform as the Splash manufactured by Suzuki. This Chevrolet will be a great choice for the Indian customers interested in purchasing one of the many small cars available on the market. The Chevrolet Beat will be a fierce competitor in the small car niche, because of its aggressive and stylish look and because of its performance.

This mini Chevrolet is the most unique current hatchback model available on the Indian market. The unconventional design was sketched in Korea and the car was manufactured in India. At first sight, the Chevrolet Beat looks like a three-door car, because of the secret rear door handles integrated into the C-pillar of the mini car. One of the standard features is the integrated spoiler. In addition, a roof-mounted spoiler and an integrated and aggressive body kit transformed this mini car into an Ultra-racing concept car. Other stylish features which complete the Chevrolet Beat are the narrow headlamps, an elongated face, an angled grille and a jutting chin.

The interior of the Chevrolet Beat features a unique instrument cluster and a variety of compartments with enough space to store different items. Other features used on this Chevrolet are the integrated music system equipped with MP3 and USB port, the power steering, the power windows and the tilt steering.

Under the hood, the Chevrolet Beat is equipped with a 1.2 liter engine with Multi Point Fuel Injection Technology. This engine is able to deliver a maximum power of 82 horsepower. The Chevrolet Beat has a manual five speed gearbox, but I think that everybody hoped for an automatic gearbox which would be more efficient for a drive in the crowded traffic. You have the opportunity to choose even a diesel version of the Beat available with a three cylinder diesel engine. This diesel engine version has a displacement of 1.0 liters and produces a maximum power of 57 horsepower. The Chevrolet Beat features an automatic temperature controller placed inside the engine that uses a dome-type, long-skirt cylinder block which reduces the space between the intake valves.

The Chevrolet Beat is available in three different versions on the Indian market. The first version is the Beat 1.2 PS which is the base version available with AC and power steering. The second version is the Beat 1.2 LS and is available with AC, power windows, central locking, battery saver, digital clock, body colored bumpers, dual horn and an integrated spoiler. The third model is the Beat 1.2 LT which has all the features of the LS version and some additional components such as the LCD digital tachometer, the speedometer, the tubeless tires and the satin silver roof rails.

When it comes to the safety measures, the Chevrolet Beat is equipped with driver and front passenger air bags, an antilock braking system, seatbelts with load limiter and a 4-channel/4-sensor EBD-ABS system. The Beat has decent numbers when it comes to the fuel consumption: it consumes only 14kpl on a regular basis and even less on the highway in comparison with other mini cars. Definitely a must-have!
