Chevrolet SSR For Sale

Chevrolet has always impressed us with amazing and unique vehicles that offer all the features we need in order to enjoy the time we spend driving. One of these amazing cars is the Chevrolet SSR which is a perfect combination between the look of a 1950 pickup and the rear powertrain of a sports car. The SSR uses the midsize SUV platform and has two seats, a meager towing capacity and a narrow pickup bed. Unfortunately, it ceased to be manufactured in 2007, but by then it had already been sold in 25,000 units. 25,000 is not such a big number, so it’s very difficult to find a used model on the market if you are interested in buying one.

The Chevrolet SSR has a unique design that represents a “pure automotive style statement”. When you first look at this incredible Chevrolet you remember the muscle cars manufactured in the ‘60s and the ‘70s. The SSR is equipped with a two-piece power-retractable top which can be folded and stored between the seats and the rear storage bed. It also features small headlights and stylish grills with the Chevrolet tie-bow symbol placed on them. The interior is comfortable with a dashboard which is a reminder of the pickup style that inspired the SSR. When the Chevrolet SSR was released in 2003, it was equipped with a 5.7 liter V8 engine able to produce 350 horsepower. For the 2005 model, the engineering team installed a 6.0 liter engine which produced around 400 horsepower. The 2005 Chevrolet SSR also received an improved interior and the first six-speed manual transmission used on this model.

The standard package included interesting features such as leather upholstery, a power-operated convertible hardtop, CD/MP3 stereo, cruise control and power accessories. The optional features available were the heated seats, a high performance audio system and the auto-dimming mirrors. With the help of the cosmetic options available you could choose to customize the Chevrolet SSR you bought by showing interest in a chrome interior and an exterior trim, in color-keyed bed strips and chrome wheels. When it comes to the safety measures, I must tell you that this version wasn’t that gifted. It featured only front and side torso airbags, antilock brakes and traction control while stability control and curtain airbags weren’t available. But even so, many consider that this Chevrolet model offers an incredible handling, performance and driving experience.

2006 Chevrolet SSR

The 2006 version was inspired by race cars and is equipped with a 6.0 liter LS2 V8 engine able to produce around 400 horsepower. As a result, the 2006 Chevrolet SSR goes from zero to 60 mph in 6.54 seconds. It also features a four-speed automatic transmission, short and long arm front suspension and a rear-wheel drive system. This version offers a good mileage of 14 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway. The interior of the 2006 model features leather bucket seats, remote keyless entry, Bose sound system, power windows, four speakers and air conditioning. The safety features that equip this model include front and side-impact airbags, traction control, antilock brakes and side impact bars.

If you are interested in buying a Chevrolet SSR you should know that these models are rare on the used car market. If you find one the price varies between $16,750 for a 2003 model and $23,743 for a 2006 version. The Chevrolet SSR is the perfect car for someone who is interested in buying a stylish and comfortable cruiser.
