Ferrari 599 Replacement Will Get V12 Engine

Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano Replacement

The Italian automaker Ferrari will reveal the replacement for the 599 GTB Fiorano in March 2012 at the Geneva Motor Show. The all-new two-seat supercar will be one of the company’s fastest cars ever made. It promises to be more powerful and lighter in comparison to the model it replaces, and according to various sources it will get a brand new engine and gearbox, derived from the ones developed for the gorgeous FF model.

The new model will be motivated by a massive V12 6.3-liter engine that will be able to develop 700 hp, which will make it the most powerful model in the company’s lineup, with 50 more ponies than the aforementioned FF and 88 hp more than the 599 GTB Fiorano. The entire horsepower will be sent to the back wheels, unlike the FF which has an AWD system. The power will be transmitted via the twin-clutch 7-speed gearbox of the FF and it will have an F1-style electronic differential.

Ferrari’s new model will use a lot of aluminum and it will get adaptive dampers. The new chassis is developed from the FF and will be made of a mix of alloys, while the wheelbase will be shorter than the one of the FF. Less weight and more power means that the new model will probably be able to do the 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds, en route to a top speed of 215 mph, which should make it just as fast as the Lamborghini Aventador.

As far as the styling is concerned, expect to see something evolutionary in the form of a combination between the 458 and the FF, along with a 599 GTO-inspired diffuser and a strip of LED daytime running lights

The sales of the 599 replacement will commence towards the end of next year and the base price will probably be somewhere around 225,000 pounds, which will be about 13,000 pounds more than the 599 GTB Fiorano.
