How do Gran Turismo 5′s virtual cars compare to real cars?

The Gran Turismo 5 racing game has been a long time coming, but is now closer than ever, having just been confirmed for a November release date.

We’ve already shared some of the details before, but it seems that Polyphony Digital, the game’s developer, and Sony, its publisher, have released a few new pieces of information about the game.

From the 1,000-car roster, around 800 will be standard, meaning their models have been taken from previous GT games, and optimized for the PlayStation 3′s hardware. The remaining 200 ‘Premium’ cars have been rendered from scratch, in order to portray the best photo-realistic model of a real car.

Don’t believe us? Check out these comparison shots of Gran Turismo 5′s virtual cars against the real vehicles which served as a model. Hit the jump to view all of the photos (click on them to enlarge) and then see which are real and which are virtual. Will you be able to guess?
