Hyundai announces two new engines

2012 Hyundai Veloster Turbo

A few days ago Hyundai has released new details about two of their newest engines. The first one is the 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline (aka Gamma 1.6 T-GDI) that generates 204 hp (207 PS / 152 kW) and a peak torque of 195 lb.-ft (265 Nm). The engine was developed entirely by the company at a cost of $60.6 million and comes with direct injection, an intercooler and variable valve timing. We don’t know which will be the first model that will get this engine but various reports are indicating that the 2012 Veloster Turbo will be powered by this new unit.

The other one is a diesel that churns 148 hp (150 PS / 110 kW) and a maximum torque of 282 lb.-ft (383 Nm). We don’t have any other details concerning this power unit but we can tell you that it is Euro 6 compliant.
