Tuning companies from all around the world try and succeeded to transform some of the most important and luxurious supercars manufactured each year, into even more luxurious and high performance cars. That’s the case of the Oakley Design Company which after the huge international success it received due to the makeovers that resulted in the luxurious Porsche GT2, GT3, Ferrari 458 and Panamera has decided to design a tuning program for the outstanding Lamborghini LP700-4 Aventador.
This high performance version of the incredible Aventador will be released in 2012 as the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP760-2. The edition signed by Oakley Design will be limited because it will include only five supercars and each of these cars will have a unique numbered plaque. In addition, some individual parts of the car will be available for the interested customers who won’t want to purchase the entire tuning package. You should know that three of the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP760-2s have already been sold. That’s why if you are interested in purchasing one of these limited edition supercars you should quickly make a reservation.
This limited version of the Lamborghini Aventador will be manufactured using a new ultra-light alloy wheel. This special alloy was developed in collaboration with their partner, HRE and weighs 4 kg less per corner than the alloy used on the regular model. That’s a characteristic that distinguishes the work of Oakley Design because the same alloy was used for the Ferrari and Porsche models. The exterior design of this Aventador will be sportier because of the use of a titanium exhaust system, a larger airbox and of an intake feed pipe diameter. The new lights and the wider wheels will complete the incredible exterior design of the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP760-2.
This tuning company will not change the factory measures of the front wheels and the well known Pirelli P Zero tires, but will increase the wheel width by 0.5 inches in front and by one inch in the rear. Because of this incredible change, the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP760-2 will have a wider footprint while the rear wheels will have a more mechanical grip in the “corsa” mode. But if a Lamborghini owner doesn’t want to buy the entire package, he will be able to purchase only the modified exhaust, the carbon-fiber parts or the re-mapped ECU system if he is interested in transforming his Lamborghini in a more unique sports car. The owners will have also the possibility to buy a rear-drive system which will save some weight and will increase the overall performance.
Under the hood the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP760-2 will host a powerful 6.5 liter V12 engine able to produce around 760 horsepower. That’s more than the 700 horsepower delivered by the engine which normally equips the Aventador. Considering that the factory Aventador goes from 0 to 60 mph in only 2.9 seconds, I think we can all imagine that the tuned version will definitely achieve a better time. An interesting aspect regarding this 2012 tuned Aventador is that the engineering team managed to reduce the car’s weight by 253lb. That because the Oakley Design team managed to remove the drive shafts and the drivetrain from the car’s front and save around 187 lbs. This helped them design a “rear-wheel monster” that will also feature a more sophisticated suspension which will help the driver handle the sports car at high speeds.
I’m sure that the work of the Oakley Design team will be a huge success and the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP760-2 will establish new standards for the next tuned Lamborghini cars.
