SEMA 2011 – Hyundai Genesis Coupe Hurricane SC
The car you see in these photos is a prototype that the Hyundai America Technical Center Inc. (HATCI) has been working on over the last two years in cooperation with Rhys Millen Racing, Magnuson Products, Torvec Inc. and Harman International.
The heart of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe Hurricane SC is the company’s V6 3.8-liter that has gotten a liquid to air intercooler, a supercharger, a free flowing sport exhaust system, plus a bunch of other performance components in order to be able to develop more than 450 hp.
The aforementioned Torvec Inc. was in charge of creating the IsoTorque differential to improve the traction capability and the handling of the car, and the company stated that thanks to this new differential, the car is quicker by one second on the Hyundai road course in comparison to the regular Genesis Coupe.
The car has also been fitted with a stiffer Blistein suspension along with a 6-piston Brembo brake system. As you can see, the Genesis Coupe Hurricane SC is riding on a new set of 19-inch alloys that are wrapped around in high performance tires that measure 245/40 for the front wheels and 275/35 for the rear ones.
The aero package developed by Rhys Millen Racing (RMR) includes a new hood, front grille, front bumper, side skirts, rear deck with spoiler and a new diffuser, along with several updates for the cabin. In addition, the interior of the coupe also has Katzkin custom premium leather and suede seats that have been accented with blue inserts.
