Like any respectable American, when you think of sports cars, you’re definitely thinking of the sweet Chevy Corvette or the muscle Chevy Camaro. These two cars have been every boy’s dream since their appearance. As usual the manufacturers from Chevrolet unveiled the two model cars and, naturally, there were faces melted. Let’s start with the Camaro and see what’s it all about.

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro may be categorized as a muscle car, but in many other ways it can be “judged” as a smoking exotic car but with far than exotic price. Just like a face-melting exotic, the Camaro looks spectacular at the very least, with all sorts of details that reminds you of childhood, realizing that you just got to have it. And there’s plenty to show besides the looks: powerful acceleration, and the “I don’t care” attitude makes you the envy of the highway.

And still, just like an exotic car, the Chevy Camaro is filled with compromise. It may be a little more difficult to see outside, even worse for who ever stays in the back seat since it’s uncomfortable as well. The trunk is rather small and the overall ergonomics are quirky. Therefore the driver has to sacrifice some elements at the expense of power and muscle terrifying looks. You could go to Ford or Dodge for that but you would loose the shimmering appeal of the Camaro.

Despite the fact that the new Dodge Challenger and the Ford Mustang have upgraded their engines to V6 and V8, still Chevy updating the engine’s output remained the king of the performance charts. Giving the Camaro the edge it needs to defeat the competition in a straight line (naturally it steers as well as a truck).

Furthermore, a new convertible debuts this year as well. Equipped with an automatic, power operated top the new Camaro is looking more sharp than ever. It may be configured with both versions: V6 and V8 engine.

Heading to serious business, the 2011 Chevy Camaro doesn’t claim the top of the straight line performance charts for nothing. It’s most powerful version, The Camaro SS is equipped with a massive 6.2 liter V8 engine that will smoking rubber in it’s path as it develops nothing less than 426 hp. It comes with a six speed manual transmission, altogether taking the Camaro to an awesome 5 sec on a 0 to 60 mph run.

Now this one, the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette is the exact automotive equivalent of …The Expendables. A lot of “firepower” lots of actions, sturdy and attractive bodywork but no the most sophisticated script. All in all, a whole lot of fun with a full tank of gas underneath.

If you’re looking for “special effects” than you need to look under the hood. The strongest version, the ZR1 is like “Vulcan Cannon” among a pack of M-16s developing a rocking, explosive, rapid fire 638 hp coming from a supercharged 6.2 liter V8 engine. Take all that and combine it with the intelligent adaptive suspension and strong gripping Michelin tires and you’ll be launching your car on the road in no less than 3.8 seconds on a 0 to 60 mph run. Adding carbon ceramic brakes to the equation, you will be getting a lot of precision while galloping at high speeds.

In terms of safety the antilock disk brakes come to the rescue. The “Active Handling” capability has been configured in such way that it doesn’t panic you when it activates while the Performance Traction Management system has been upgraded to keep your car moving smoothly even at top speed.
