Steve Jobs never had a license plate on his cars

Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG

Steve Jobs was the person who founded Apple and Pixar, and can be considered a man who not only had a positive effect on the history of computers, but he also popularized a large number of novel products, like the iPhone, iPad and the iPod. As you probably know this, he unfortunately died at the beginning of this month at the age of 56 and soon after that some rumors have started circulating over the Internet, one of which was about the license plate on his car, or better said, the absence of it.

According to some people, Jobs didn’t had a license plate on his cars because he didn’t care about paying the fines while others stated that he was able to obtain some sort of special permit that would allow him to drive a vehicle without a license plate.

Steve Jobs was a man who liked to stick with certain things, like his sneakers, jeans and black turtleneck. We can say the same thing about his car as he was always seen driving a Mercedes SL 55 AMG. According to Jon Callas, who worked at Apple in various security positions, Jobs or a person in his entourage found out a loophole in the California law that allowed any person that bought a new car to drive it for 6 months without a license plate.

Apparently, the founder of Apple made a deal with the leasing company to change his car every 6 months, giving back his silver-painted Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG and receiving a new identical car.

  1. No Front License Plate says:

19 states do not require a license plate on the front of a registered vehicle. Is your state one of them? If not, maybe you should contact your governor or local representative about it.
