Mystery buyer orders 10 Aston Martin One-77 hypercars for $17 million

Aston Martin kicked up its exclusivity factor into overdrive when it announced that only 77 models of the upcoming One-77 hypercar will be made.

But while people were blown away by its performance figures, over 700 HP drawn from its 7.3-liter V12, a new bit of info is certain to get some more hype going around the future model.

It seems that an anonymous buyer, presumably from the Middle East, has placed an order for a ‘few’ One-77 models. How many, you ask? Just 10 cars, totaling about $17 million.

That’s right, one lucky (or crazy) guy dropped that money to get 10 Aston Martin One-77 hypercars, each set to be distinguished by exterior and interior trim. Aston doesn’t want to say who that specific buyer is, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see a trailer with 10 such models rolling around the Arab Emirates when the cars start shipping.

So, remaining rich people, you should definitely order a One-77 as soon as possible until they’re all accounted for.

Aston Martin might offer completely customized one-off models

Aston Martin is looking in new directions to make a profit these days. But besides the Cygnet city car, which is just a customized Toyota iQ, it seems that the British brand might open up a new division, which can completely customize any model in the range, for people willing to pay for such a privilege.

According to the Aston Martin design director Marek Reichman, the experience gained from building the One-77 hypercar from scratch has generated a new train of thought in the company: why not offer an even wider choice range, so that customers can create their own one-off model.

Think of it as how Ferrari can create new editions based on current models, like it did with the 599-based P540 Superfast Aperta. As such, you will be able to order new body types for DB9 or Rapide models, with an interior made just the way you like it. Expect a considerable premium to be added to the base price, but I’m sure potential customers won’t mind.

Video: Aston Martin One-77 proves its worth in new footage

Aston Martin is preparing to launch its most powerful model to date (that is, if we don’t see a performance variant of the Cygnet), the One-77.

The car, powered by a 7.3-liter V12 engine capable of 750 HP, will reach speeds in excess of 220 mph, and thoroughly offer some extreme thrills to all of the 77 customers which will receive it.

In order to further showcase the car, Aston Martin released a new video of the One-77, while doing some testing laps. Hit the jump to enjoy this luxurious yet extremely powerful model.

Aston Martin One-77 reaches over 220 mph (354 km/h), will be fastest Aston ever

Many called the upcoming Aston Martin One-77 excessive, flamboyant and highly exclusive. But according to Aston, they won’t be able to say it’s slow, as during company tests on a dry track but with heavy wind, the coupe model achieved 220 mph (around 354 km/h).

The model, which will see all of its 77 models go on sale this summer, has beaten the Vanquish, which achieved 200 mph. As such, it seems that the exclusive model, which will cost around £1.2 million (around €1.3 mil or $1.9 mil), is definitely going to offer some excitement to all of its 77 owners.

2010 will definitely be a busy year for the UK company, as not only will it market the One-77 coupe, but also the Rapide sedan and the Toyota iQ-based Cygnet city car.

Aston Martin One-77 finally unveiled to the public

This weekend, the amazing Aston Martin One-77 was finally unveiled and we got to see it in all its splendor at the Concorso d’Eleganza which took place at the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como, Italy. The car was first shown at last year’s Paris Motor Show, but it was partially covered with a cloth, Aston representatives saying that potential buyers will see it first and only after that the rest of us, mortals, will get the chance to have a look at it. Unfortunately, we couldn’t attend the Italian event, but judging by these photos we can say that the car is amazing. And we’re not the only ones saying that, because the car made an impressive debut, winning the Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes, with more than 30% of the total votes given by the visiting public.

Aston Martin Chief Executive, Dr Ulrich Bez said: “Embodying everything Aston Martin stands for; the One-77 has proven itself as the most desirable automotive art form at its premiere today. We have achieved a new level of design and craftsmanship which has been clearly recognised by the public here in the homeland of design at Villa d’Este.”

Video: Aston Martin One-77 Episode 2

Aston Martin has just published a new video about their amazing project, the One-77. After seeing only a small part of the car at the Paris Motor Show, now we get more of what we think it’s going to be an incredible car, plus we can hear a few members of the project team talking about the supercar. In case you forgot, the £1 million One-77 will be built in only 77 units (though the demand is higher) and it will be powered by a 7.3 liter V12 engine that will develop around 700 hp. But enough talking, enjoy the video!

Aston Martin One-77 leaked photos

The Aston Martin One-77 made sensation ever since it was first announced. The British company managed to create quite an interesting mistery around the car, by only partially unveiling it at this month’s Paris Motor Show. However, it seems that the first official photos were leaked and were published by the Dutch website 925.nl. We can see that the ultra exclusive supercar follows the design cues Aston Martin gotten us used to, but in a more extreme interpretation. The front part is awesome, the same’s the rear, not to mention the side vents. Under the hood, a 700 hp 7.3 liter V12 will power this £1 million car. However, if the pricing’s not an issue for you, we’re sorry to tell you the car’s already sold out.

Check out more photos after the jump. (more…)

Ultra exclusive Aston Martin One-77 already sold out

When you think about £1.2 million (more than $2 million), you’d say that’s a huge amount of money to pay for a car, right? Especially with the recent economic situation. But there are some people that wouldn’t agree with that. About 100 of them. Because that’s how many orders Aston Martin has received for their ultra exclusive One-77, of which only 77 units will be created. There’s aren’t many details about the Aston Martin One-77, who has just sent the Veyron to the second place in a top of the world’s most expensive cars, except that the car will be powered by a 7.2 liter V12 engine and will top over 200 mph. The car was only partially unveiled at the recent Paris Motor Show, Aston Martin reps saying that the first people to see the whole car will be the ones that placed their orders and paid the £200,000 ($343,000) deposit. If everything goes according to Aston Martin’s plans, the first units will be delivered in the autumn of 2009.

2008 Paris Special: Aston Martin One-77, still a mistery

One of the reasons we were excited to come to the Paris Motor Show was the ultra exculsive Aston Martin One-77. However, we were pretty dissapointed to find out that we won’t be seeing the £1 million car. There was one there, but covered with a cloth, with only two corners uncovered. One of the Aston representatives told us that they’re only using the Paris show as a teaser, because they want the first units to be seen only by customers that placed their order. After that, at an unmentioned time, they’ll show it to everybody. Like I said, we were dissapointed that we didn’t get to see the car, but let’s face it, that’s maybe the coolest teaser ever. We did, however, get the chance to take some close photos of the car, and we must tell you, judging by what we see and by the overall shape, this must definitely be one heck of a car.
