DeLorean DMC-12 From Back To The Future 3, Set To Go On Auction

DeLorean DMC-12

Those of you who are fans of the Back to the Future movies and have deep pockets will have the chance to grab a piece of movie history when the car from the third part of the series will go on auction. The car we’re talking about is one of the seven original DeLorean DMC-12 cars that were driven by Michael J. Fox during the film. Today, only three of these cars exist so you can imagine how precious it is.

The car which will go on the auction organized by Profiles in History has been in private hands for 8 years and features a full roll cage, new suspension and a V6 engine borrowed from VW. The organizers say that this DeLorean DMC-12 will fetch anywhere from at least $400,000 to $600,000. The car was used for the 1955 drive-in movie scene where Marty McFly raced back to 1985 in order to find Dr. Emmet “Doc” Brown, a character played by Christopher Lloyd.

At this auction, aside from the car there will be other artifacts that will be auctioned, including Doc’s burned toy Caddy, the Tales From Space comic, costumes, Clock Tower cables as well as a full set of five types of hoverboards. Some of the money obtained from this auction will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease. This auction will be organized on December 15-17.

Ford GT40 Prototype, Up For Auction

Ford GT40 Prototype

RM Auctions is known for selling some of the world’s rarest and most exclusive cars. Their latest offering will be a 1965 Ford GT 40 prototype which will be auctioned on May 21st at the Villa d’Este auction. Ford built only five prototypes of this model and this one, the GT/111, participated in the Targa Florio rally, but encountered several problems.

Ford GT40 Prototype

Its V8 4.7-liter engine was only firing on 7 of its cylinders, and on the latest lap, the car crashed. The roadster was transported back to England where it was stripped down and forgotten, due to the reason that the coupe was the predominant body style during those days of racing.

Ford GT40 Prototype

As it happens with many rare cars, it was eventually discovered and restored, and RM Auctions expects to fetch from $3.6 to $4.3 million.

Up For Auction – Ferrari FF And Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster

Ferrari FF

If you haven’t heard of the Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance that is organized on an annual basis in Florida, you should know that they have become a high-profile, national automotive event and for its 5th edition, it should be the best one. Why? Because up for auction there are going to be two cool cars: the Ferrari FF and the Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster.

What is even more special is that these will be the first units that rolled out the assembly line so they should go for a pretty good sum. This isn’t the first time when they auction off first examples of some great cars as in the last two years, they managed to sell the very first 2010 Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI Quattro, 2010 Ferrari California, 2011 Audi R8 V10 Spyder Cabriolet Convertible, 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia, 2011 Hyundai Equus and a 2011 Mercedes SLS AMG.

Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster

The tradition will continue this year with the first Ferrari FF and the first Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster. In addition, there are going to by other cool cars auctioned off, like the first Audi R8 GT and a Mercedes CLS63 AMG “C” Limited Edition (only 30 units planned to be produced). Last but not least, up for grabs is going to be a tour of Jay Leno’s extensive garage that has some of the rarest and most expensive cars ever made.

The event will be held this month on the 26th.

Up For Auction – 2011 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Brad Paisley Hero Edition

2011 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Brad Paisley Hero Edition

Chevrolet is really not joking about these limited editions and they roll out one very often, maybe too often in my opinion. I can’t complain about this one as it will be sold at a fund-raising event for a charity – Kids Wish Network HERO program. What is special about this Corvette ZR1 is that it was tuned by Lingenfelter so it should be really fast.

2011 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Brad Paisley Hero Edition

This one-off Corvette features a massive LS9 V8 6.2-liter supercharged engine that received a Lingenfelter performance upgrade system, allowing the V8 to output more than 700 hp, which is a lot more taking into consideration that the normal version produces 638 ponies. This incredible engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with a twin-disc clutch.

2011 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Brad Paisley Hero Edition

Aside from this extra power, the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Brad Paisley Hero Edition comes with a signature under its hood, you’ve guessed it, Brad Paisley’s.  The car you see in these pictures is a part of the 2010 Corvette Dream Giveaway, along with a fully-restored 427 Corvette Roadster from 1967.

Special MINI Cooper by Paul Weller on auction for charity

MINI has announced that they partnered with rock artist Paul Weller and created a special one off MINI Cooper which will go on auction for one month, starting with November 11. The money raised will go to charities Nordoff Robins and War Child. The special MINI Cooper features an unique pink and brown stripes exterior finish, 17-inch Crown Spoke alloy wheels, black leather on the interior, front heated seats and Chili Pack.

MINI UK’s Director, Jochen Goller says “Both MINI and Paul Weller are synonymous with the quintessential British mod scene. That’s why we were the ideal match to create this unique car.”

Paul Weller said “I’ve always loved and driven MINIs so when I was given the opportunity to design a bespoke Mini Cooper I wanted to create something that reflected the mood and colours associated with the Mod era, which was also the classic Mini’s hey day. I’d already expressed these colours in a shirt I designed for Ben Sherman a few years ago, so it made sense to me to continue the theme using a MINI Cooper as a palate.”

Movie cars up for sale: KITT Ford Mustang, Hangover Mercedes and Iron Man Cobra

In case you’ve got a big stack of cash just burning a hole in your wallet, you might be interested in an upcoming auction event, set to be held on May 19th at the Indiana Fair Grounds where some pretty famous cars will be sold to the highest bidder.

How famous? Among the main attractions are vehicles like the 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220SE which hauled a tiger in ‘The Hangover’, two unused Shelby Cobra bodies from the first Iron Man and, the true ‘center pieces’, two Ford Mustangs Shelby GT500KR used in the failed revival of the Knight Rider TV series.

While we didn’t really love the reimagining of the cult show, we’re pretty sure many boy racers will flock to the event just to get their hands on one of these modified ‘Stangs. If you’re into more old school rides, the Chevrolet El Camino featured in the ‘My Name is Earl’ TV series is also up for sale. If bikes are more your thing, a 2011 Buell police chopper, used in ‘Terminator: Rise of the Machines’ is also set to be auctioned off.

If you’ve got nothing else to do and want a car which scored some time on the TV or movie screen, then this auction event is just for you.
