Audi offering Titanium Package for most 2011 models

Audi is set to offer a few more customization options for its 2011 model year cars, as Fourtitude reports that a new Titanium Package accessories kit will be showing up on options list for several key cars.

As such, the new A4, both in sedan and Avant body style, the S4, the A5 (pictured above) and the S5 will be suitable for the new Titanium package.

Why should you opt for the new kit? First off, it replaces all those shiny chrome inserts with more appropriate gloss black ones, including the grille. Add in the 19-inch RS wheels, the piano black interior trim, not to mention the sports suspension and sports seats, and you’ve got yourself one very attractive package.

The kit can’t be combined with the existing S-Line exterior package, but it will certainly attract a lot of long-time Audi fans. Pricing hasn’t been revealed, as 2011MY cars have yet to arrive in the USA. Expect more details in the following months.

B&B launches new tuning kits for the Audi A5/S5 Cabriolet

B&B launches new tuning kits for the Audi A5/S5 Cabriolet

After developing some interesting performance kits for the Audi Q7 facelift earlier this week, the German tuning house B&B has just revealed its tuning packages for the Cabriolet version of the Audi A5 and S5. All of the engines available for the models have been upgraded to produce more power.

First off, the top of the range 3-liter TFSI engine can now reach a dizzying 415 HP with 520 Nm, largely due to the new sport exhaust system, but also to an optimized airflow and re-balanced electronics in the engine. The new top speed for this model will be 285 km/h (177 mph).

The 3-liter TDI engine hasn’t been forgotten, as it will now reach 325 HP with a torque of 640 Nm. The progress to this performance is in three stages: the first will see the electronics changed and the boost pressure increased, letting 280 HP and 585 Nm for €1,198, the second will see another optimization of the electronics costing just €100 more, and the third will outfit special unit-injector elements and a suction pipe to the cooling system for the engine, costing a heftier €3,950, but will reach the aforementioned 325 Hp and 640 Nm.

A special four-staged tuning program was made for the 2-liter TFSI engine, which will steadily increase the output to 250 HP and 400 Nm, for €998, followed by 260 HP and 295 HP for the next two stages, and culminating with the last one, which squeezes 310 HP and 465 Nm, through outfitting the engine with a special turbocharger and a sport exhaust system.

Last but not least, the entry-level 2-liter TDI which develops 170 HP/ 350 Nm received two stages of tuning, one increasing its output to 200 HP/ 400 Nm and the other to 220 HP / 420 Nm, with the price starting at €1,198

Besides all of these performance upgrades, B&B also offers special adjustable suspension, and the B10 and B12 wheel sets, with 20 inch rims, in order to look better with the revamped bodykit.

Spied: Audi RS5 with retractable rear spoiler, could be the modern Ur-quattro?

The Audi RS5 is getting closer and closer to debut and spy shots are showing up everywhere. However, the latest ones, taken on the Nurburgring track, are definitely the most interesting ones, because for the first time we see the RS5 being equipped with a retractable rear spoiler, just like the other sports cars in the Audi range, the R8 or the TT.

So what does this mean? Well, we don’t know for sure, but there are a lot of rumors going around about Audi planning to revive the legendary 1985 ‘Ur-Quattro’, one of Audi’s most successful sports cars ever. According to these rumors, the car will weight less than 1,400 kg (3,086 lbs) and, powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0 liters V6 delivering 425 hp, will offer an incredible experience. If all these are true, we should expect the special RS5 to debut in 2012 at a starting price of around 70,000 Euros ($91,000).

The new Audi A5/S5 unveiled

I’m sure you all know that the Audi A5/S5 is one of our favorite cars out there and we’re more than thrilled any time something new shows up about the beautiful German coupe. And this time the news are really exciting, because Audi has unveiled the highly anticipated convertible version of the A5 which is extremely beautiful. Like we’re used to, Audi has fitted the new A5/S5 Cabriolet with a classic fabric top which opens in 15 seconds and closes in 17 seconds, with fully automatic open/close drive coming as standard, plus an acoustic top available as an option, which reduces wind noise. Beside the obvious weight advantage, the soft top also allows increased trunk space, the A5/S5 having 320 liters (11.3 cu ft) of unused storage volume.

Under the hood, the Audi A5 Cabriolet will be available with a range of five engines, two turbodiesels (190 and 240 hp) and a three gasoline engines (180, 211 and 265 hp). The top of the range engine, the 265 hp 3.2 liter TFSI V6 delivers 330 Nm (243.4 lb-ft) of torque and, goes from 0 to 100 mph (62 mph) in 6.9 seconds, up to a top speed of 246 km/h (153m mph) and averages 8.6 liters/100 km (27 US mpg). Of course, there will also be an S5 Cabriolet, powered by a supercharged 3.0 liter TFSI V6 which delivers 245 kW (333 hp), 440 Nm (324.53 lb-ft) between 2,900 and 5,300 rpm, does 0 to 62 (100 km/h) in 5.6 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), averaging 9.6 l/100 km (24.5 US mpg). For more details about the car, check out the official press release.

The first units are expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2009, with pricing starting in Germany at 37,300 Euros for the 160 hp 1.8 TFSI with six-speed manual transmission. Check out more cool photos after the jump. (more…)

Audi S5 to get new LED tail lamps

The Audi A5/S5, one of the best looking cars ever and one of our favorite cars, keeps getting better. After some time ago the Ingolstadt company announced that the S5 will get a new 3.0 liter supercharged engine that will deliver 333 hp (half evil?), a couple of days ago they said that all S5 models that will be built starting with December will get a new displacement for the tail lights, including LED lights (somehow similar to the ones on the A6 facelift), plus an optional third generation MMI system. The MMI III infotainment system features faster graphics, a large hard disk drive for storage of music files etc, and a topographical or 3D representation of images. The new MMI III will also be available for the A8, Q5 and facelifted A6. The ‘regular’ A5 will also have the system as an option, but the new LED lights are only available for the S5.

Is this the real Audi RS5?

According to Car Magazine, their October issue will feature a comparison test between the BMW M3 and the upcoming Audi RS5. On their website there’s a preview of the issue and we can have a first look at Audi’s RS5. Also, from the title on the cover “New Audi RS5: V8 turbo coupe, finally an M3-beater?” we find out that the rumors according to which Audi planned the V10 from the Gallardo for the RS5 were pure speculations. I must say this is very interesting and we can’t wait for the car’s debut, probably at the Paris Motor Show. Check out the cover after the jump. (more…)

420hp Audi S5 Evo tested in Spain

The Audi A5 si definitely one of our favorite cars over here at Auto Unleashed and we are happy to report some really interesting stuff. The guys from Infomotori had the chance to test drive an experimental car from Audi, based on the S5. Dubbed ‘Evo’, the car was powered by a modified version of the 4.2 liter V8 engine, which developed 420 hp and was equipped with Audi’s new seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. Of course, the first conclusions were that Audi is probably trying to fill the gap between the S5 (354 hp/260kw) and the upcoming RS5, which is expected to be powered by the same V8, but which will develop around 450hp (335kW). Rumors also say that the RS5 might be powered by the 500 hp 5.2 liter V8 from the Gallardo.

Besides the more powerful engine and the new gearbox, Infomotori reports that the four cars presented by Audi were having the same specs as the S5, but Audi refused to make more details available on the car and its future.

2008 World Car of the Year winners announced

Today, the 2008 World Car of the Year awards winners were announced. The cars were nominated for four categories, Overall Car of the Year, World Design of the Year, World Performance Car and World Green Car and the winners were voted by 47 journalists from 24 countries throughout the world.

The winner of the Overall Car of the Year award was the Mazda2, followed by the new Ford Mondeo and the Mercedes Benz C Class. The Mazda2 also came in second at the World Design of the Year, where the winner was the Audi R8 and the third place went to the Volvo C30. The Audi R8 also won in the World Performance Car section, followed by the Audi S5 Coupe and the new BMW M3. The fourth award, for the World Green Car was won by the BMW 118d with Efficient Dynamics followed by the SmartForTwo cdi and the Volkswagen Passat 1.9 TDI BlueMotion.

So, we can say that the big winners were the Audi R8, with two awards, and the Mazda2, which won the main category and also came in second at another. The winners of the second and third place in each category are ok, though we don’t really dig the Volvo C30 as a great design.
