Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible

One of the coolest cars launched this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show is the convertible version of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 which shares its genes with the upcoming coupe version and it will go on sale in the last part of next year. In order to compensate for the lack of a unifying roof structure, the engineers from GM fitted the convertible with tower-to-tower brace under the bonnet an underbody tunnel brace, a transmission support reinforcement brace, a rear underbody “V” brace and a front “X” brace and stiffer cradle.

They also added some structural reinforcements in order to improve vibration and noise characteristics and reduce body and ride motions. They managed to do this y installing a hydrofoamed tube in the A-pillars, a reinforced front hinge pillar, an inner reinforced bracket in the windshield header along with reinforcements inside the rockers.

Just like its coupe sibling, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible will ride on the third generation of GM’s Magnetic Ride suspension and it will be fitted with a Performance Traction Management system.

Chevrolet Rs

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS was released recently by Chevrolet and it is absolutely stunning. The car has a lean and muscular look with an aggressive front end because of the optional front grille. The rear of the car catches the eye with its round tail light and the big aggressive exhausts. To complete the exterior design, the manufacturer used for this Chevrolet RS 19 inch rims which have a thick five spoke pattern. These rims feature an alloy finish having a sporty and aggressive look and providing great handling and style.

2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS

Inside, the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS is spacious and functional. The seats are amazing, covered in leather while the steering wheel is big having a retro look. When it comes to the dashboard, this is plain and tries to match the style of the classic Camaro. A disadvantage of the dashboard is that some of the gauges are placed under the HVAC and the stereo controls. Because of that, if you are trying to look at them you will have to take your eyes off the road and that has a dangerous potential. But you must keep in mind that the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS is a performance car, so it isn’t about luxury and fancy dash navigation systems. But, Chevrolet should have given more attention to the dashboard’s design.

The four passenger cabin is tastefully designed featuring modern touches. The buyer has the opportunity to choose the ambient light package which includes advanced LED light pipe technology which offers a special glow to the interior. The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS is also equipped with cruise control, rear deffoger, rear park assistant and USB port, air conditioning, remote start and a personal device interface for iPod. When it comes to the entertainment system you have everything you need including a single-CD radio with six speakers, XM Satellite radio and power door locks.

Under the hood, this Chevrolet RS hides a powerful engine. The car is equipped with a 3.6 liters V6 direct injection engine producing 312 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. The 2011 Camaro RS is available as an SS version as well, equipped with a 6.2 liters V8 engine which produces more than 400 horsepower. If you want to take this car for a ride, you should know that the 2011 Camaro goes from zero to 60 mph in only 6.1 seconds. This amazing Chevrolet RS also benefits from some of the latest technological advances including antilock brakes, traction and stability control, variable valve timing and an independent rear suspension. You can say that this 2011 Camaro is the modern version of the classic Chevy Camaro. The car is available with the Hydramatic 6T70 six speed automatic transmission that helps the driver shift easily during the ride and offers the opportunity to choose different gears.

When it comes to the fuel economy, this Chevrolet’s RS consumption was estimated by EPA to be around 17 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on highway. The safety measures are also respected by the Chevrolet Camaro RS. The standard package includes antilock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags, stability control, full-length side curtain airbags and the OnStar system.

If you love the American muscle cars and you are looking for a powerful engine, the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS is the perfect choice for you. If you are interested in buying this car it will cost you $40,000. If you desire the entire optional package which includes the sunroof, the body kits, the V8 engine and something extra, the price goes up. Nonetheless, the performance is worth spending every penny.

Sport Chevrolet

Like any respectable American, when you think of sports cars, you’re definitely thinking of the sweet Chevy Corvette or the muscle Chevy Camaro. These two cars have been every boy’s dream since their appearance. As usual the manufacturers from Chevrolet unveiled the two model cars and, naturally, there were faces melted. Let’s start with the Camaro and see what’s it all about.

Sport Chevrolet

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro may be categorized as a muscle car, but in many other ways it can be “judged” as a smoking exotic car but with far than exotic price. Just like a face-melting exotic, the Camaro looks spectacular at the very least, with all sorts of details that reminds you of childhood, realizing that you just got to have it. And there’s plenty to show besides the looks: powerful acceleration, and the “I don’t care” attitude makes you the envy of the highway.

And still, just like an exotic car, the Chevy Camaro is filled with compromise. It may be a little more difficult to see outside, even worse for who ever stays in the back seat since it’s uncomfortable as well. The trunk is rather small and the overall ergonomics are quirky. Therefore the driver has to sacrifice some elements at the expense of power and muscle terrifying looks. You could go to Ford or Dodge for that but you would loose the shimmering appeal of the Camaro.

Despite the fact that the new Dodge Challenger and the Ford Mustang have upgraded their engines to V6 and V8, still Chevy updating the engine’s output remained the king of the performance charts. Giving the Camaro the edge it needs to defeat the competition in a straight line (naturally it steers as well as a truck).

Furthermore, a new convertible debuts this year as well. Equipped with an automatic, power operated top the new Camaro is looking more sharp than ever. It may be configured with both versions: V6 and V8 engine.

Heading to serious business, the 2011 Chevy Camaro doesn’t claim the top of the straight line performance charts for nothing. It’s most powerful version, The Camaro SS is equipped with a massive 6.2 liter V8 engine that will smoking rubber in it’s path as it develops nothing less than 426 hp. It comes with a six speed manual transmission, altogether taking the Camaro to an awesome 5 sec on a 0 to 60 mph run.

Now this one, the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette is the exact automotive equivalent of …The Expendables. A lot of “firepower” lots of actions, sturdy and attractive bodywork but no the most sophisticated script. All in all, a whole lot of fun with a full tank of gas underneath.

If you’re looking for “special effects” than you need to look under the hood. The strongest version, the ZR1 is like “Vulcan Cannon” among a pack of M-16s developing a rocking, explosive, rapid fire 638 hp coming from a supercharged 6.2 liter V8 engine. Take all that and combine it with the intelligent adaptive suspension and strong gripping Michelin tires and you’ll be launching your car on the road in no less than 3.8 seconds on a 0 to 60 mph run. Adding carbon ceramic brakes to the equation, you will be getting a lot of precision while galloping at high speeds.

In terms of safety the antilock disk brakes come to the rescue. The “Active Handling” capability has been configured in such way that it doesn’t panic you when it activates while the Performance Traction Management system has been upgraded to keep your car moving smoothly even at top speed.

Chevrolet Ke Mai Luo (Camaro), Heading To China

Chevrolet Camaro

At the Shanghai auto show that will be organized next month, General Motors will bring the latest generation of the Camaro, but it will have a different name: Ke Mai Luo. The car will be offered with a V6 direct-injection 3.6-liter engine at a starting price of RMB 500,000, which is approximately $76,400. The car will be very expensive there if we look at the price for the Camaro V6 in the United States – $22,680, making the model sold in China about three times more expensive!

GM said that in the last couple of years, the luxury sports car segment in China has increased significantly and that the market for cars priced between RMB 400,000 and 800,000 grew by a whopping 141% last year.
