Report – 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 To Get 570+ HP

2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

The extremely hot Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 won’t be out until early 2012, but if we were to believe a recent report, our wait won’t be in vain as it seems that it is going to feature an engine that will produce more than 570 hp (578 PS / 425 kW).

2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

You probably remember that during this year’s Chicago Auto Show, when the car was introduced, General Motors stated that its 6.2-liter supercharged engine is going to produce about 550 hp (557 PS / 410 kW). However, according to this report, GM will raise the output of the engine in order to get as close as possible with the upcoming 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 which promises to deliver an impressive 620 hp (629 PS / 462 kW) from its V8 5.8-liter power unit.

The automaker did not offer other details regarding the car but mentioned that all right-hand variants will come as standard with a leather interior cabin.

In other news, Chevy confirmed that the Camaro Convertible will hit the showrooms in United Kingdom in early 2012 and it will have a starting price of 34,995 pounds. Opting for the entry-level model will get you the one powered by a V8 6.2-liter engine that produces 426 hp. Chevrolet Rs

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS was released recently by Chevrolet and it is absolutely stunning. The car has a lean and muscular look with an aggressive front end because of the optional front grille. The rear of the car catches the eye with its round tail light and the big aggressive exhausts. To complete the exterior design, the manufacturer used for this Chevrolet RS 19 inch rims which have a thick five spoke pattern. These rims feature an alloy finish having a sporty and aggressive look and providing great handling and style.

2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS

Inside, the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS is spacious and functional. The seats are amazing, covered in leather while the steering wheel is big having a retro look. When it comes to the dashboard, this is plain and tries to match the style of the classic Camaro. A disadvantage of the dashboard is that some of the gauges are placed under the HVAC and the stereo controls. Because of that, if you are trying to look at them you will have to take your eyes off the road and that has a dangerous potential. But you must keep in mind that the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS is a performance car, so it isn’t about luxury and fancy dash navigation systems. But, Chevrolet should have given more attention to the dashboard’s design.

The four passenger cabin is tastefully designed featuring modern touches. The buyer has the opportunity to choose the ambient light package which includes advanced LED light pipe technology which offers a special glow to the interior. The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS is also equipped with cruise control, rear deffoger, rear park assistant and USB port, air conditioning, remote start and a personal device interface for iPod. When it comes to the entertainment system you have everything you need including a single-CD radio with six speakers, XM Satellite radio and power door locks.

Under the hood, this Chevrolet RS hides a powerful engine. The car is equipped with a 3.6 liters V6 direct injection engine producing 312 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. The 2011 Camaro RS is available as an SS version as well, equipped with a 6.2 liters V8 engine which produces more than 400 horsepower. If you want to take this car for a ride, you should know that the 2011 Camaro goes from zero to 60 mph in only 6.1 seconds. This amazing Chevrolet RS also benefits from some of the latest technological advances including antilock brakes, traction and stability control, variable valve timing and an independent rear suspension. You can say that this 2011 Camaro is the modern version of the classic Chevy Camaro. The car is available with the Hydramatic 6T70 six speed automatic transmission that helps the driver shift easily during the ride and offers the opportunity to choose different gears.

When it comes to the fuel economy, this Chevrolet’s RS consumption was estimated by EPA to be around 17 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on highway. The safety measures are also respected by the Chevrolet Camaro RS. The standard package includes antilock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags, stability control, full-length side curtain airbags and the OnStar system.

If you love the American muscle cars and you are looking for a powerful engine, the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS is the perfect choice for you. If you are interested in buying this car it will cost you $40,000. If you desire the entire optional package which includes the sunroof, the body kits, the V8 engine and something extra, the price goes up. Nonetheless, the performance is worth spending every penny.

Sport Chevrolet

Like any respectable American, when you think of sports cars, you’re definitely thinking of the sweet Chevy Corvette or the muscle Chevy Camaro. These two cars have been every boy’s dream since their appearance. As usual the manufacturers from Chevrolet unveiled the two model cars and, naturally, there were faces melted. Let’s start with the Camaro and see what’s it all about.

Sport Chevrolet

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro may be categorized as a muscle car, but in many other ways it can be “judged” as a smoking exotic car but with far than exotic price. Just like a face-melting exotic, the Camaro looks spectacular at the very least, with all sorts of details that reminds you of childhood, realizing that you just got to have it. And there’s plenty to show besides the looks: powerful acceleration, and the “I don’t care” attitude makes you the envy of the highway.

And still, just like an exotic car, the Chevy Camaro is filled with compromise. It may be a little more difficult to see outside, even worse for who ever stays in the back seat since it’s uncomfortable as well. The trunk is rather small and the overall ergonomics are quirky. Therefore the driver has to sacrifice some elements at the expense of power and muscle terrifying looks. You could go to Ford or Dodge for that but you would loose the shimmering appeal of the Camaro.

Despite the fact that the new Dodge Challenger and the Ford Mustang have upgraded their engines to V6 and V8, still Chevy updating the engine’s output remained the king of the performance charts. Giving the Camaro the edge it needs to defeat the competition in a straight line (naturally it steers as well as a truck).

Furthermore, a new convertible debuts this year as well. Equipped with an automatic, power operated top the new Camaro is looking more sharp than ever. It may be configured with both versions: V6 and V8 engine.

Heading to serious business, the 2011 Chevy Camaro doesn’t claim the top of the straight line performance charts for nothing. It’s most powerful version, The Camaro SS is equipped with a massive 6.2 liter V8 engine that will smoking rubber in it’s path as it develops nothing less than 426 hp. It comes with a six speed manual transmission, altogether taking the Camaro to an awesome 5 sec on a 0 to 60 mph run.

Now this one, the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette is the exact automotive equivalent of …The Expendables. A lot of “firepower” lots of actions, sturdy and attractive bodywork but no the most sophisticated script. All in all, a whole lot of fun with a full tank of gas underneath.

If you’re looking for “special effects” than you need to look under the hood. The strongest version, the ZR1 is like “Vulcan Cannon” among a pack of M-16s developing a rocking, explosive, rapid fire 638 hp coming from a supercharged 6.2 liter V8 engine. Take all that and combine it with the intelligent adaptive suspension and strong gripping Michelin tires and you’ll be launching your car on the road in no less than 3.8 seconds on a 0 to 60 mph run. Adding carbon ceramic brakes to the equation, you will be getting a lot of precision while galloping at high speeds.

In terms of safety the antilock disk brakes come to the rescue. The “Active Handling” capability has been configured in such way that it doesn’t panic you when it activates while the Performance Traction Management system has been upgraded to keep your car moving smoothly even at top speed.

Chevrolet Ke Mai Luo (Camaro), Heading To China

Chevrolet Camaro

At the Shanghai auto show that will be organized next month, General Motors will bring the latest generation of the Camaro, but it will have a different name: Ke Mai Luo. The car will be offered with a V6 direct-injection 3.6-liter engine at a starting price of RMB 500,000, which is approximately $76,400. The car will be very expensive there if we look at the price for the Camaro V6 in the United States – $22,680, making the model sold in China about three times more expensive!

GM said that in the last couple of years, the luxury sports car segment in China has increased significantly and that the market for cars priced between RMB 400,000 and 800,000 grew by a whopping 141% last year.

Spy Shots: Chevrolet Camaro Synergy Special Edition

Chevrolet Camaro Synergy Special Edition

Our colleges from WCF have managed to take a couple of spy shots with the forthcoming Chevrolet Camaro Synergy, yet another special edition for this model. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as back in February, Chevrolet announced that they will roll out a special edition of the Camaro every six months.

The next one to be released is this Synergy edition which will come with its own set of rims, interior trims and a new body kit. Customers will have to choose from one of the following colors: Summit Black, Summit White, Victory Red and Cyber Gray.

Chevrolet Camaro Synergy Special Edition

If you recall, there was another Synergy Special Edition for the Camaro, available between February and May 2010. That model was based on the 1LT and it had a V6 3.6-liter that developed 304 hp. The base price was $26,790 and had a metallic green paint; this was the only “green” thing about it.

Chevrolet Camaro Synergy Special Edition

Anyway, I’m sure that this new addition will sell like cupcakes, up to some point. I believe that if they continue with this trend of rolling out two special editions per year, the car will soon depreciate and they’ll lose many customers, because special edition (aka limited edition) is supposed to be somewhat exclusive, but if there are a lot of them, it beats the purpose of rolling out a limited-run edition of a certain model, in this case the Camaro.

Chevrolet Classic Car

In the world of car manufacturers, classic cars have an important role in their history. And even if they all made everything possible to bring in the world something amazing each time, in the domain of classic cars Chevrolet is one of the “sacred monsters”. This company begun as an independent firm and over the time has manufactured hundreds of cars that are nowadays considered classics. Chevrolet classic cars can surely be considered “iconic”.

I believe that the most of us have seen a Chevy Corvette or a Chevy Bel Air. But do you know that those cars are the most popular Chevrolet classic cars? You might ask me why? You will find the answer written bellow and I’m sure that you will end up agreeing with me.

An interesting model of Chevrolet is the Chevy Camaro. It’s very appreciated among car lovers. The car was built as a reaction to the Ford Mustang’s release on the market. We can honestly say that Chevrolet was the winner of the “fight”, leaving the competition behind. This model was designed to be equipped with wide tires, an upgraded suspension and bumblebee stripes placed on front of the car. The Road&Track magazine considers the 1971 Camaro as being one of the best ten cars ever built.

Chevrolet Camaro

Another Chevrolet classic car is the Chevy Bel Air. This is one of the cars that brought fame to the Chevrolet brand. All car collectors think that the first Chevy Bel Air built in the late 1950’s and the later version that was released in the 1960’s are still the most wanted classic cars. This Chevrolet line had the biggest success possible when it came to sales and it defeated all its competitors. That’s why the company continued manufacturing the Chevy Bel Air until the middle of the 1970’s.

In 1958 Chevy Impala became the second best selling car manufactured by the Chevrolet brand, right after the Bel Air. The car is one of the most popular Chevrolet classic cars. The 1958 Chevy Impala had taillights on each side, a new frame and a new chassis design. The new frame offered a lower and larger passenger compartment and an increased rigidity. The car was powered by a 283 cubic inch engine that could reach 290 horsepower. In 1965 the Impala model was sold in over a million units and it holds that record to this very day.

Another incredible classic car built by Chevrolet is the Corvette, which is a muscle car. The car was manufactured for the first time in 1953 when only 300 units of this model became available for sale. All the units had the well known fiberglass body, the black canvas tops, the white wall tires and the red interior. Chevy Corvette is one of the rarest Chevrolet classic cars and collectors appreciate it not only through words, but also through a well-deserved price of one million dollars.  The 1960 model was equipped with a 283 cubic inch V8 engine and could produce 315 horsepower. The same car model had a four speed manual transmission, AM/FM radio and a removable hardtop.

Chevrolet Corvette

These are just a few of the Chevrolet classic cars that were built over the years. The designs are able to satisfy all tastes and helped Chevrolet be a part of car history. Even if we talk about the Chevrolet classic cars or the nowadays Chevrolet cars, you know that your confidence will never be deceived.

2010 Camaro Used Car Prices

Well if you’re on the market for a used car, which is also built in 2010 well it can’t be much of a used car, can it?

One of the top releases of 2010 was the Fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro. This “heavy on the muscle” type of car, carries it’s heritage all the way back to the mid ’60s having released five generations of overpowered, turbocharged, massive-hooded, mean looking machines.

The fifth generation consists in five models, all with their own performance standards and personality. If you want to be inconspicuous this is not the car for you, since you will be turning heads and possibly plugging ears since the car is just about as silent as a fire truck. Yet that’s one of the main characteristics of this car.

It’s got power and it knows it has it. If you’re the kind of driver that knows value and history in a car then this one is perfect, if not go buy a Prius.

Chevrolet Camaro

Let’s check out some of the features the five models: LS, 1LT, 2LT, 1SS and the 2SS, have to offer

The LS has a 3.6L V6 engine with tow possibilities for transmission: manual or automatic, equipped with a MP3 player and a sound system big enough to overcome even the engine, will definitely improve the driver’s need for speed.

Traction control and stability control help keep this “bullet” stable as it releases 300 horsepower on the track. The price for this baby that comes with little use, since is barely 1 year old, is somewhere in range of 21000 $.

The 1LT and the 2LT are very similar, both powered by 3.6 L V6 engine, despite having the same engine as the LS series, these are more luxurious, equipped with 18-inch black “Heritage” steel wheels, a slick, keyless entry, cruise control, a fully equipped audio system complete with CD/Mp3 player plus a satellite radio and auxiliary plug and play, if necessary, added to the package that makes this car a perfect candidate for cruising and within a price range of 21500$, very affordable from my point of view, considering the little use on it.

The 2LT is even more equipped, adding to the equation 19-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, and for the series with automatic transmission even a remote engine start. All these spell: comfort comfort comfort, yet the car will not let you forget that you’re still driving “a muscle”. This one is set out for nothing less than 23500$. Very tempting…

The, 1SS and the 2SS, that’s a completely different story.  Trading luxury for power, these are completely different beasts. Powered by a massive 6.2L V8 engine develops a heart-stopping 426 hp on the manual transmission and a bit less on the automatic version which is 410 hp but also equipped with cylinder-deactivation feature which enables a better fuel economy.

This kind of power and torque will enable some massive tire burn-outs in the parking lot but also come at a heavier price of 28000 for the 1SS and 30.200$ for the 2SS which combines the 1SS power and the luxury of the 2LT

I don’t know about you, but i’m getting one.

Chevrolet Gives New Meaning To The Word “Limited”

2011 Chevrolet Camaro Synergy Series

It seems that Chevrolet is planning on introducing a “limited edition” Camaro every six months for attracting more and more customers. According to an Automotive News report, the automaker will not only revive various nameplates from the past, but at the same time they will introduce some brand new ones.

According to Al Oppenheiser who is the chief engineer of the Camaro – “our plan is to keep evolving the Camaro”. Nevertheless it really takes the limited out of “limited”. He also said that the upcoming editions will follow a similar formula to the 2012 Camaro ZL1 that borrows its name from the 1969 Camaro ZL1, which at the time of launch was Chevrolet’s fastest car.

2011 Chevrolet Camaro Synergy Series

The aforementioned ZL1 is considered to be the company’s most powerful Camaro ever made, offering 550 hp from its V8 6.2-liter supercharged engine. It also sports advanced Brembo brakes and an upgraded suspension with the Magnetic Ride Control.

2011 Chevrolet Camaro Synergy Series

The automaker has revealed the fact that they will be offering 500 replicas of the 2011 Camaro SS Convertible Pace Car as well as the Camaro Synergy V6 model. The latter will be targeted for those enthusiasts that are on a tight budget. Both of these editions will be available starting with this spring.

2011 Chevrolet Camaro Synergy Series

More than that, rumors say that Chevrolet is also working on a 2012MY Transformers edition, but there is no official information on that matter. We’ll keep you posted.

Chevy’s Miss Evelyn Is The Most Watched Ad Ever

The numbers of this year’s Super Bowl edition were published and the winner for the most watched ad is General Motors with its ad “Miss Evelyn’s Wild Ride” for the Chevrolet Camaro. According to the estimates made by Nielsen, the ad about two guys describing a woman’s wild journey in a silver-painted Chevy Camaro was watched by 119,628,000 people, making it the most-watched ad ever made.

GM took down last year’s record that was achieved by a Doritos ad which was watched by 116,231,920 people. More than that, General Motors managed to grab the second place also, with the ad for the Chevrolet Cruze, watched by 119.3 million people.

Despite all of these achievements, the favorite commercial aired during the 2011 Super Bowl was VW’s little Darth Vader for the new Passat which according to Nielsen’s liability index it rated 186 which is quite impressive taking into consideration the fact that the average score for the Super Bowl commercials is 100, making Volkswagen’s ad almost twice as liked as the average commercial.

VW’s second ad was for the new Beetle and ranked 6th most favorite ad with a 146 score. The ad for Chrysler’s 200 model which featured rap star Eminem got a 138 score, good for the 8th place, while Audi’s A8 ad ranked 10th place with 127.

A couple of weeks ago, GM has announced a special edition 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible prepared exclusively for the annual Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. The car was priced at $75,000 and only 100 units will be made. Considering the regular Camaro Convertible will start at $30,000, you’d figure there wouldn’t be so many who would pay all that money for a few “high-end” features. Well, you would be wrong, because GM has sold all 100 units in only 3 minutes, last night.

The Neiman Marcus Camaros are SS models with the 6.2-liter V8 and feature exclusive Deep Bordeaux exterior color with “ghosted” rally stripes, color matching fabric top, 21-inch polished aluminum wheels, LED halo-ring headlamps, amber-colored leather seating surface, Bluetooth connectivity and a 245-watt Boston Acoustics sounds system.
