The German tuners over at Schmidt Revolution have launched a mild upgrade program for the sexy Nissan 370Z Coupe and Roadster. No modifications as far as the engine’s output have been made, but they’ve worked on the car’s handling, looks and sound.

The first thing you’ll notice is the new set of 3-piece alloy rims that are available in two sizes: 20-inch with 245/30-20 Hankook rubber for the wheels in the front and 305/25-20 for the ones in the back – priced at $7,233; 21-inch wheels with 245/30-21 and 295/25-21 (front & back) – $8,680.

They also have added an H&R coilover suspension and dampers, along with a sport exhaust system that provides a throatier sound.
The Japanese automaker Nissan announced recently its updates for the European-spec 370Z model. For the new model year, the car is available with a number of transmission, suspension and equipment improvements for the entire 370Z Coupe lineup, while at the same time adding a new trim level, dubbed “GT Edition”.
Performance-wise, the 2011 Nissan 370Z Coupe has been fitted with retuned dampers that promise to bring a better balance between high-speed handling and ride comfort. The automaker said that thanks to the higher average speeds regularly enjoyed in this continent, the NTCE (Nissan Technical Centre Europe) technicians engineered these changes.
The car’s optional 7-speed automatic gearbox has been fitted with a snow mode that when engaged, starts the car in second gear and controls engine revs in order to prevent wheel spin on snow or ice. As standard, the car is going to be fitted with a tire pressure monitoring system. One of the new optional features available is a rear view-parking camera as part of the Nissan Premium Connect satellite navigation package.
The aforementioned GT Edition will be offered in three different body colors: Black Rose, pearl white and metallic black. The first one is exclusive to this new trim level and features contrasting stripes running along the car’s flanks. The car sits on 19-inch RAYS forged rims that are finished in anthracite color, replacing the standard 18-inch wheels.
After the heart warming Polar Bear ad for the Nissan Leaf electric vehicle, Nissan has followed up with a new commercial, showcasing the innovations it has implemented all across the range, not just in the Leaf.
Narrated by the same Robert Downey Jr., the ad is quite good, and seamlessly goes from the keyless entry tech on a crossover like the new Murano to the step in the Pathfinder’s rear bumper or the Leaf’s seats which were made from recycled plastic bottles.

As such, Mercedes-Benz will offer an array of engines that might appear under the bonnet of the next Z car. And before you ask, no, we aren’t talking about fire-breathing AMG-spec engines, but fuel efficient diesels or even hybrid assemblies.
According to the speculation, the 3.5-liter V6 engine, coupled with the electric motor from the S400 hybrid might be transplanted to the Japanese model. Other likely candidates are the diesel V6 from the E350 CDI or even the future Diesotto 1.8-liter unit, currently in development at Mercedes-Benz.
We’re still a bit reluctant that these things will happen, but given harsher fuel average and emissions regulations, a change is definitely coming. Hopefully, instead of this hybrid mumbo jumbo, we might get to see the 370Z’s 3.7-liter V6 replaced with a smaller, possibly turbocharged V6 or maybe even a four-cylinder.
Nissan celebrates 40th anniversary of first Z-car championship win with BRE 370Z
As most of you know, Nissan is commemorating this year the 40th anniversary of its performance Z-badged cars. But besides the birth of the iconic range, the company is also celebrating 40 years since it first won a prestigious championship in the USA, thanks to the Datsun 240Z.
The competition was the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) Championship, held at Road Atlanta in 1970. The team that led the Datsun to victory was Pete Brock’s Racing Enterprise (BRE), with driver John Morton behind the wheel.
In order to properly celebrate the first victory of a Japanese car in front of German or British models, Nissan teamed up once more with BRE to create a special 370Z model, decked out in the iconic livery sported by the Datsun 40 years ago.
Even though it was customized to be up to the SCCA T2 specifications, the BRE 370Z is just a show car and will be showcased around the country this summer, including the Nashville ZCon in July. If you still want to celebrate Z cars, the 40th Anniversary special edition 370Z is still available in Nissan dealerships.
Nissan and Top Gear have unleashed a new contest, which gives anyone the chance to win a day at the famous Top Gear test track and have at it with the famous tame racing driver: the Stig.
The competition centers around the 40th anniversary of Nissan’s Z cars, with the recent 370Z taking center stage. Besides being able to register in the competition and winning a day at the Top Gear track in the hot Japanese roadster, you’ll also be able to become a “traitor”, and write about what you think makes the 30Z so out of the ordinary. The prize for your writing skills? Driving a Nissan 370Z for two weeks and having your article published in the Top Gear mag.
You check out the official website of the contest, where besides the competitions, you can also admire the history of Z cars from Nissan and try your button-mashing skills in a special web game.
Nissan has just launched a very special 370Z Black Edition model which celebrates the 40th anniversary of all things Z-badged coming from the Japanese carmaker.
The new car doesn’t include any performance upgrades, but customers will be able to find some very interesting features, including metallic black or quartz paint, a red leather and suede interior, leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching, a set of 19-inch wheels, red brake calipers and, last but not least, an upgraded touchscreen for the satellite navigation unit.
Only 370 cars will be sold in Europe, starting from April with a price of £33,645 (around $53,000) for the manual gearbox option and £35,045 ($55k) for the automatic.
We cover quite a lot of crashes on our blog, but this recent one involving a Nissan 370Z roadster is quite unique. Not that such cars don’t crash, but that not a lot of cars crash into churches, like this Japanese model did.
No concrete details were given, but it seems that either the 370Z is the devil’s work, or maybe its driver was really late for the church service. Either way, it seems that the driver managed to escape and maybe said a prayer or two.
Most of us reached a point where we got sufficiently drunk to pass almost everything we hear as a good idea. Well so has this guy right here, who thought that taking his Nissan 370Z through a mud pit at the Freak Show in Kingston, North Carolina, would be terrific.
At least this is what he claims on the YouTube page where he uploaded the video of him getting the beautiful Nissan 370Z very dirty. Just looking at the performance car get thrashed like that, not to mention that beautiful engine getting revved way past its safety standard is enough to bring a tear to my eye.
Nissan’s latest entry in the hot coupe market, the 370Z has certainly attracted many eyes with its great design and top notch performance. But the team at Senner thought there was enough room for improvement and has just announced that it will release its first tuning kit for the Japanese model.
Revamping both the outside and the mechanical inside of the car, the new kit from Senner upgrades the 3.7-liter V6 engine with a new Invidia exhaust system and various other tweaks, in order to boost the performance, taking its output to 353 HP. The suspension has also been overhauled, as the team added a KW Variant 3 one, which allows the ride height to be lowered between 15 and 50 mm in the front and between 15 and 45 mm for the back axle.
On the outside, the tuners fitted a new body kit, including various carbon fiber parts like a front apron and a rear diffuser. The boot lid also received a spoiler in order to complete the package. Making contact with the ground is a set of 20-inch light alloy rims, available in racing white or matte black finish, wrapped in Vredestein tires which are narrower at the front, 9 inches, and wider at the back, 10 inches.
No price was announced sadly, but we can still enjoy the pics of the Senner tuned Nissan 370Z.
The New York International Auto Show, which opened its doors for press today, marks the debut of the 2010 Nissan 370Z Roadster, the topless sibling of the 370Z Coupe launched last year. Besides the obvious, the new 370Z Roadster comes with a lot of cool features like Nissan Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, the first-ever Z Roadster heating and cooling ventilated net seats, 6 CD Bose audio system, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, satellite radio and advanced Nissan Navigation System.
The standard black cloth convertible top features a fabric inner liner which reduces noise in the cabin, plus a glass rear window with integrated rear window defroster. The top, which closes and opens in 20 seconds, is controlled either by a console-mounted switch or by a button located on the doors. To make room for the top and increase safety, several adjustments had to be made, such as the shortened windshield and the aerodynamically rounded rear deck.
Under the hood, the new Nissan 370Z Roadster will come with a 3.7 liter DOHC V6 engine with Variable Valve Event and Lift Control (VVEL), which delivers 332 hp at 7,000 rpm and peak torque of 270 lb.-ft. at 5,200 rpm. Nissan offers two transmissions for their new cabrio, a close-ratio 6 speed manual with SynchroRev Match (controls and adjusts engine speed when shifting to the exact speed of the next gear position) and a 7-speed automatic with Downshift Rev Matching (DRM) and Adaptive Shift Control (ASC). According to the Japanese carmaker, the 370Z roadster achieves a fuel economy of 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
The 2010 Nissan 370Z Roadster is scheduled to hit US showrooms this summer, with prices to be announced closer to release date.
The Nissan 370Z will make its debut at next week’s LA Auto Show and though no official information was released so far, if you check the show’s website, you’ll see that there are a few details about the upcoming coupe, conforming the rumors that showed up some time ago.
Nearly every piece and component of the 370Z has been rethought and redesigned, including a shorter wheelbase, greater use of lightweight body materials, larger engine with 26 more hp, a new 7-speed automatic transmission and the world’s first synchronized downshift rev matching system for the 6-speed manual transmission. Performance has been enhanced with a more rigid body structure, better power-to-weight ratio and a new 332 horsepower 3.7 liter DOHC V6 engine with Variable Valve Event and Lift Control.
We’ve seen the new Nissan 370Z almost unveiled in a previous Need For Speed Undercover game trailer, plus some renderings of the convertible, but now we have the real thing: the first set of official photos released by Nissan. From the photos we see that the car’s not just a facelift, because a lot of things have changed, the 370Z going for a more retro look than the 350Z. However, for more details we’ll have to wait until the official launch, in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show. However, rumors say that the 370Z name indicates a 330 hp 3.7 liter V6 under the hood and the fact that the car will be shorter and lighter means extra performance. After it’s LA debut, the Nissan 370Z is expected to go on sale at the beginning of 2009.
Besides the official photos, we’ve also got the latest Need for Speed Undercover video game trailer, where the 370Z is one of the game’s stars. See more after the jump. Enjoy! (more…)
