Edo Competition unveils 700 hp Porsche Panamera Turbo S

Porsche Panamera Turbo S By Edo Competition

About one year ago, the tuners from Edo Competition launched an upgrade program for the Porsche Panamera Turbo which increased the output of the engine to 750 hp. Now they’ve taken the Turbo S version of the Panamera and installed new turbochargers, exhaust manifolds, air filters and catalytic converters. Aside from this, they’ve also tweaked the car’s ECU.

The result? The 4.8-liter V8 engine has gained 150 hp and 96 lb.-ft (130 Nm) of torque, for a grand total of 700 hp and a maximum torque of 649 lb.-ft (880 Nm). The German tuner has stated that this Panamera Turbo S needs only 3.5 seconds in order to do the 0-62 mph sprint, while hitting 124 mph (200 km/h) takes 11.4 seconds. This is considerably quicker than the standard version of the car that sprints to 62 mph 3.8 seconds and to 124 mph in 13.5 seconds. Thanks to the power increase, the sedan is now capable of reaching a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h).

Aside from these upgrades, the tuners also installed a lowering module that brings the Panamera Turbo S closer to the ground by 30mm. It rides on a new set of 22-inch rims that have a carbon-fiber finish, wrapped around in wider and stickier rubber.

Porsche Releases Video With Panamera Turbo S

I don’t know who made this clip but they’ve managed to make the Porsche Panamera look kind of nice but I still think that there is a lot of room for improvement, as far as the aesthetics of the car are concerned.

Anyway, the Turbo S variant of the Panamera is powered by a massive V8 bi-turbo 4.8-liter engine that churns 542 hp (550 PS / 405 kW) and has a peak torque of 590 lb.-ft (800 Nm) with the overboost function and 553 lb.-ft (750 Nm) as standard. With such a powerful engine, no wonder that the car is able to do the 0-62 mph sprint in only 3.8 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 190 mph (306 km/h).

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S went on sale in June and has a base price in Germany of 167,067 Euros, including VAT.

Porsche Announces Panamera Turbo S

Porsche Panamera Turbo S

It was only yesterday when we talked about a possible April launch of the Porsche Panamera Turbo S and now 24 hours later, the German automaker has decided to reveal the most powerful version of its ugliest car in the current lineup. The Turbo S version will benefit from the same V8 4.8-liter bi-turbo engine, but with more oomph as it will deliver 542 hp (550 PS / 405 kW) and 590 lb.-ft (800 Nm) of torque with overboost, and 553 lb.-ft (750 Nm) without it. The standard version offers 493 hp (500 PS / 368 kW) and 516 lb.-ft (700 Nm).

With these extra muscles under the hood, the car will be able to do the 0-60 mph sprint in 3.8 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 190 mph (306 km/h). This additional power was possible thanks to the addition of new titanium-aluminum turbines for the car’s bi-turbo system, along with an optimized engine management.

They also were quite attentive at the Panamera’s fuel consumption and according to the car manufacturer; it will eat up only 11.3 liters / 100 km, for the model fitted with the specially-designed 19-inch rims covered by low-resistance all-season tires, courtesy of Michelin. They also offer 20-inch wheels.

The car will come as standard with Porsche’s Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), along with the Sport Chrono Package Turbo.

Porsche Panamera Turbo S To Be Revealed Next Month

2011 Porsche Panamera

According to various rumors, the German automaker Porsche will unveil the Turbo S version of its very unattractive Panamera model sometime in April. Although nothing is set in stone at the moment, this timeline matches with the upcoming New York and Shanghai Auto Show and if we look back in 2009 at the Shanghai motor show, it was then and there were Porsche launched the original Panamera Turbo.

Reports say that under the hood the car will feature a V8 4.8-liter twin-turbo engine, good enough for 542 hp (550 PS / 405 kW) and more than 590 lb.-ft (800 Nm) of torque. With this engine, the Panamera Turbo S will be able to sprint to 60 mph in less than 3.8 seconds, on its way to a top speed of over 188 mph (303 km/h).

Although the car is pretty ugly if you ask me, I do have to admit that 3.8 seconds and 188 mph are great figures for such a big car.

If all these rumors turn out to be true, the car will most likely hit the dealerships in late June / early July.
