New Details About The 2013 Mini Cooper Emerge

2013 MINI Cooper

We’ve learned from our colleagues at AutoExpress.co.uk that the next generation of the Mini Cooper which should be out sometime in 2013 will be styled by Anders Warming. The new look will be more dramatic, featuring an upward-sweeping shoulder line, a steeply raked windscreen and a prominent front grille.

The new Mini will ride on an all-new front wheel drive platform that will be a little bit larger in comparison to the one on the current model. We don’t have in depth details about this but we can tell you that it will probably be flexible enough to spawn a 5-door hatchback, most likely the next generation of the Clubman.

The car will probably get a 3-cylinder 1.5-liter engine that generates 128 hp (130 PS / 96 kW) and 148 hp (150 PS / 110 kW) in diesel and gasoline variants, respectively. In addition, it will be available with a couple of engines borrowed from the BMW 1-Series in the form of some 4-cylinder 2.0-liter units, but nothing is certain at the moment. Lastly, the new Mini Cooper will get a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that will deliver 178 hp (180 PS / 132 kW) for the S version and 217 hp (220 PS / 162 kW) for the John Cooper Works (JCW) model.

The 2013 Mini Cooper will make its first appearance sometime next year at an important international motor show and will hit the dealerships the following year. We’ll keep you posted when more information will become available. Stay tuned.

2013 Ford Shelby GT500

Our colleagues from WCF have managed to grab a few spy shots with the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 while undergoing some testing at the Nurburgring track. The prototype you see in these shots has a huge intercooler which can only mean that the production version will be considerably a lot more powerful.

2013 Ford Shelby GT500

Although we don’t have any official information coming from the Blue Oval, if we believe the latest rumors going on the Internet, the car will be powered by a new V8 5.8-liter supercharged engine that might produce 620 hp (629 PS / 462 kW), which will be 70 hp (71 PS / 52 kW) more than the model it will replace.

The car looks just about the same as the current model, but when the production version will hit the dealership; it might be a little bit different. Stay tuned for more information.

2012 Audi S7 Spied Without Any Makeup

2012 Audi S7

WCF’s photographers have managed to grab a few spy shots with the upcoming 2012 Audi S7 which will be officially unveiled this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The car you see in these photos is a prototype while doing some tests near Nurburgring.

2012 Audi S7

As you might have noticed, it features a very aggressive front fascia and a four-tailpipe exhaust system, along with the aerodynamic side sills. Most likely, the production version of the S7 will benefit from a high-performance braking system, a sport-tuned suspension and faux aluminum mirror casings.

2012 Audi S7

Under the hood it will probably feature the same engine as we shall see in the new generation of the Bentley Continental GT, which is a turbocharged V8 4.0-liter unit that will develop at least 429 hp (435 PS / 320 kW).

Spy Shots – VW Cross Passat Variant

2012 Volkswagen Cross Passat Variant

It seems that the German automaker Volkswagen is working on a new version of the Passat, dubbed Cross, which looks like the wagon version but it seems to be sitting on a raised chassis. In addition, from these spy shots (courtesy of WCF) we notice that matte black paneling around the bottom, beneath the camouflage. Also, the wheel arches seem to be widened.

2012 Volkswagen Cross Passat Variant

The car will benefit from VW”s traditional 4Motion all-wheel drive system and some of the engines which are going to be available include the 2.0 TFSI gasoline unit that generates 207 hp (211 PS / 155 kW) and the 2.0-liter TDI engine that produces 167 hp (170 PS / 125 kW).

Hotter BMW M3 Sedan In The Works

We’ve learned from our colleagues at autocar.co.uk that BMW is working on a more powerful and faster version of the M3 sedan, before the next generation of the 3-Series debuts next year. These spy shots were taken on the Nurburgring track and we know that this hotter M3 will get the same V8 4.4-liter engine as the one in the M3 GTS. In addition, the car will go on a diet and lose some pounds, making it a more track-focused model.

The 0-62 mph sprint should be done in a mere 4.5 seconds, while top speed will be almost 190 mph. Expect to see some changes in the suspension and braking configuration of the car. From these spy shots we can see that the new variant of the M3 sedan will look a little bit more aggressive, featuring updated front and rear bumpers, along with new front and rear splitters as well as some lighter body panels borrowed from the aforementioned M3 GTS. In addition, it will take the GTS’ lightweight sports exhaust system.

The car will be slotted above the standard M3 and under the M3 GTS, which usually was M3 CSL territory, but we don’t know if the car will wear this moniker.

2012 Porsche Boxster, New Details Available

2012 Porsche Boxster

Our colleagues from CarMagazine have learned that the upcoming 3rd generation of the Porsche Boxster will be more differentiated from the 911, featuring a 4-cylinder engine and lots of technical modifications. The next Boxster (981) will not be an evolution of the current model, but an entirely new vehicle that will feature a cab-forward design which will be crisper and with sportier proportions.

The wheelbase of the new Boxster will be 60mm longer, while the overall length will be up by 37mm. The height will be dropped by 10mm and in the cabin; the legroom will be improved by 18mm. Despite the fact that it is going to be a little bit bigger and with more equipment, the 3rd generation of the Porsche Boxster will weigh 15 kg less than the outgoing model, which means that it will have a curb weight of 1320 kg for the standard version and 1340 kg for the “S” model.

2012 Porsche Boxster

The standard model will be powered by a 2.7-liter engine that will develop 265 hp and a peak torque of 280 Nm, while the Boxster S gets a more powerful 3.4-liter that churns 315 hp and 266 lb.-ft. of torque. Mated to the PDK gearbox, the standard model will do the 0-60 mph sprint in 5.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 164 mph. The “S” needs only 4.9 seconds for the sprint and can reach a top speed of 171 mph

The 3rd generation of the Porsche Boxster will make its official debut in January next year at the Detroit Motor Show.

Spy Shots – Aston Martin Rapide S

Aston Martin Rapide S

We have some fresh new spy shots of the upcoming “S” version of the exquisite Aston Martin Rapide, courtesy of our colleagues form AutoExpress. In these shots we see a prototype undergoing some road rests near the company’s headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire.

Aston Martin Rapide S

The standard version of the Rapide features a massive V12 6.0-liter engine that cranks out 470 hp, enough for a 0-60 mph sprint in 5.3 seconds. However, the “S” version will be even quicker than that and more powerful, featuring an uprated engine coming from the DBS, with 510 ponies. Most likely, the car will get carbon-ceramic disc brakes as standard, along with a firmer configuration of the suspension.

Aston Martin Rapide S

The model should be out later on this year and it will certainly be more expensive than the standard Rapide so expect to see a price tag of almost 200,000 pounds.

Production Version BMW M5 Spied

BMW M5

During the Shanghai Motor Show last month, BMW brought a concept version of the upcoming M5 and now we have some fresh spy shots with the production model which will hit the dealerships towards the end of this year. The guys over at AutoCar managed to take these photos somewhere near Nurburgring.

BMW M5

It will make its official debut this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show and it will be powered by a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbocharged V8 engine that generates 552 hp and has a peak torque of 510 lb.-ft, which is 52 hp and 126 lb.-ft more in comparison to the outgoing model that packs a V10 5.5-liter naturally-aspirated power plant.

BMW M5

With this engine, the new M5 will be able to do the 0-60 mph sprint in about 4.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 155 mph (limited just like all “M” models). The German automaker said that the new generation of the M5 will be 25% more fuel efficient compared to the model that it will replace, thanks to the fact that it will feature the company’s EfficientDynamic technologies, like: start/stop function, disengaging alternator and brake energy recuperation.

BMW M5

BMW is also developing an all-wheel drive version of the upcoming M5 in order to satisfy its U.S. clients, where AWD Audi and Mercedes/AMG models are selling very well.

BMW M5

In the United Kingdom, prices should start from around 75,000 pounds.

Spy Shots – Audi R8 GT Spyder

Audi R8 GT Spyder

Our esteemed colleagues from WorldCarFans have managed to grab a few spy shots with the upcoming Audi R8 GT Spyder. As you can see, it wears the familiar GT bodykit that comes with a rather unattractive big rear spoiler and cool 19-inch alloy rims.

Audi R8 GT Spyder

The car will be powered by the same engine that we find in the normal GT version, which is a V10 5.2-liter unit that generates 553 hp (560 PS / 412 kW) and 398 lb.-ft (540 Nm). This means that the 0-60 mph sprint will be done in about 3.8 seconds and the top speed will be approximately 193 mph (311 km/h).

Audi R8 GT Spyder

If we were to believe the latest rumors regarding the R8 GT Spyder, Audi plans to make only 333 units. The car will make its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Production-ready Toyota FT-86 Spied

Toyota FT-86

The highly anticipated production version of the Toyota FT-86 has been spied in Germany by our colleagues from WCF. Despite the fact that it is wearing a lot of camouflage, we can guess that it will feature a design that mixes what we’ve seen in the first FT-86 concept and the more aggressive FT-86 II concept.

Toyota FT-86

This rear-wheel drive car will feature a 2.0-liter boxer power unit that will generate about 200 hp (203 PS / 149 kW). This engine will be mated to either a standard 6-speed manual gearbox or the optional 6-speed automatic transmission.

Toyota FT-86

The production version of the Toyota FT-86 will make its official debut later on this year and will be followed by the Scion FR-S as well as a Subaru variant.

2013 Mercedes S-Class, New Details Emerge

2013 Mercedes S-Class

We have showed you plenty of spy shots with the upcoming 2013 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but now we have more information about the car. We’ve learned from our colleagues at Car Magazine that MB’s luxury flagship will ride on the all-new Mercedes rear-wheel drive architecture (MRA) platform that features a 4-link front suspension and air springs. This platform promises to be very versatile if we take into consideration that the German automaker plans four body styles for the S-Class: a SWB sedan, a LWB sedan, a 4-seat convertible and a coupe.

2013 Mercedes S-Class

Tech-wise, the new S-Class will come with the Magic Light Control system – adaptive LED headlights, an improved and updated COMAND system which will benefit from Internet connectivity and will be able to download software updates, along with the Magic Body Control which is a system that has two cameras for scanning the road for imperfections and it can configure the suspension of the car in order to provide a silky smooth ride.

2013 Mercedes S-Class

The 2013 Mercedes S-Class will be available with a variety of power units, like the V6 3.5-liter twin turbo that produces 301 hp (306 PS / 225 kW), a V8 4.6-liter twin-turbo that delivers 429 hp (435 PS / 320 kW), along with two engines coming from AMG, the V8 twin-turbo 5.5-liter with 518 hp (525 PS / 386 kW) and the top-spec V12 that unleashes 650 hp (659 PS / 485 kW). Aside from these gasoline engines, the new S-Class will also be available with a couple of diesels, a plug-in hybrid and maybe an all-electric version.

Spy Shots – Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster

2012 Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster

Last week, the German automaker Mercedes-Benz released a batch of photos with its upcoming 2012 SLS AMG Roadster model, wearing a little bit of camouflage. Now, courtesy of Carscoop, we get to see the car in all its roadster glory, without wearing any makeup, except for the badge on the bonnet and on the lights. These spy shots were taken on the streets of Germany and I have to say that the car looks absolutely remarkable, but not as pretty as the coupe version.

2012 Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster

The company said that because the coupe and roadster versions were created in parallel, the engineers had the possibility to consider the structural differences between these two, managing to keep the weight of the open top version down to a minimum. And so they did, as the bodyshell of the cabrio has a curb weight of 536 pounds (246 kg), only five pounds more than its coupe sibling.

2012 Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster

As a reminder, the SLS AMG Roadster features the same engine as the one found in the Coupe, a V8 6.2-liter that produces 571 hp (for the European version), and 563 hp  (for the U.S.-spec model). The power unit has been installed behind the car’s front axle and all that power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

2012 Audi S7

The car will probably come with a V8 4.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces about 429 hp (435 PS / 320 kW). According to previous reports, a possible RS7 version might offer a 600 hp (608 PS / 447 kW).

Spy Shots – 2012 BMW M6 Coupe

2012 BMW M6 Coupe

Our esteemed colleagues from WCF have managed to grab a batch of spy shots with the upcoming 2012 BMW M6 Coupe. Unfortunately, this prototype still wears a lot of camouflage, but we can see that it has been fitted with all the “M” goodies, like the big rims and the lowered suspension, along with the aerodynamic kit.

2012 BMW M6 Coupe

Under that hood there shouldn’t be any surprises as it will feature the same engine that we will find in the highly-anticipated F10 M5, a V8 4.4-liter twin-turbo power unit that will be mated to a 7-speed DCT Drivelogic double clutch gearbox. This engine will most likely output about 557 hp (565 PS / 416 kW).

The 2012 BMW M6 Coupe will be revealed later on this year. Stay tuned for more information and spy shots.
