Gemballa 2011 Porsche Cayenne

Gemballa 2011 Porsche Cayenne

This week Gemballa revealed the tuning program for the Porsche Cayenne sport utility vehicle. Based on the Cayenne II 958, the all-new Gemballa Tornado offers an increased power and a different exterior look. The SUV will be equipped with the Stage Two power pack which raises the engine’s output by 35-40%, reaching 675 hp – 700 hp. With this tuning program, the Cayenne is estimated to offer an incredible torque of 1000 Nm. In order to safely handle all that power under the hood, the engineers at Gemballa have equipped the SUV with Brembo brakes that have 420 mm vented discs with 6-pot calipers for the front wheels and 405 mm vented discs and 4-pot calipers for the rear wheels.

The car now rides on 10.0J x 22-inch rim that have 295/35 ZR22 tires at the front and 12.0J x 22-inch wheels with 335/30 ZR22 tires at the rear of the Cayenne-based Gemballa Tornado. The wide body kit of the car has now increased to 2.05m in width and it is manufactured from carbon fiber. Also new are the rear lights of this car which have been entirely redesigned.

This tuning program for the Cayenne is the first product of GEMBALLA GmbH and according to the CEO of the company, Andreas Schwarz “Carbon-fiber is a high strength, low weight structural material that needs to be used honestly, and not just for decoration”.  Other than the roof panels, hatchback and the steel body-in-white rear quarter, all the other steel body components have been replaced by carbon-fiber equivalents.

The engineers at Gemballa managed to shave off 70 kg from the original version by adding a carbon-fiber bonnet, doors, side still covers, rear hatch outer skin and front/rear bumper/valance. All of these new panels use the factory mounting points. Despite these significant changes in comparison to the original Porsche Cayenne, the security-related features like the door side impact protection or the passenger safety have not been altered in any way. Also, the high level of comfort of the Cayenne is still there, according to the Gemballa press release.

Gemballa 2011 Porsche Cayenne

Looking at the 2011 Gemballa Porsche Cayenne sport utility vehicle from the front, you will notice the large grille which is flanked by the two smaller ones, all of them offering the necessary amount of ram air for the two stages of uprated, twin-turbocharged power units. Beside the fog lights, Gemballa installed the brake cooling ducts. The matte black visible carbon finish was used on the redesigned tail panel and rear corners of the Cayenne. The recessed surfaces available in matte finish visible carbon offer the Tornado a stronger sculpted appearance, similar to the Avalanche GTR.

All of the four disc brakes of the car are cross-drilled and slotted; and were designed and manufactured exclusively for the company in these sizes. The Stage One tuning program for the 2011 Porsche Cayenne developed by Gemballa offers a total engine power of 580 hp and the Tornado will be fitted with the Stage Two program which will offer between 675 and 700 hp. This model will celebrate 30 years of activity for the Gemballa brand.

There is no information at the moment regarding the price of the Stage Two program, but what we do know is that Gemballa will be making only 30 of these cars, so grab one while you still can.

VW Amarok By Oettinger

Oettinger VW Amarok

Oettinger, a German tuner took the VW Amarok pick-up truck and came up with a very interesting tuning program. The original model is fitted with a 2.0-liter BiTDi engine capable of producing 163 hp (120 kW) and a maximum torque of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). With this tuning the engine is capable of producing 190 hp (140 kW) and a 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) torque.

The list of improvements does not end here as the tuning program installed by Oettinger on the Volkswagen Amarok provides an extra 37 lb-ft (50 Nm) of torque in the 2800-400 rpm critical band, very important to any pickup truck out there. This additional torque of 50 Nm allows not only swift progress but at the same time also the alternative of relaxed gliding at low rpm’s  in town and on main roads.

With the tweaking of the ECU, the truck is no capable of reaching 100 km/h in approximately 10.5 seconds which is not very bad. Top speed is about 116 mph (187 km/h).

For those of you that own a VW Amarok and want to get this tuning program, you will have to pay $1,490 (including warranty and installation).

In our opinion, it is one of the best-looking pick-up trucks ever produced and with this affordable tuning program; the VW Amarok (by Oettinger) is a pretty good deal taking into consideration the looks of the car and the power of the engine. Unfortunately Volkswagen still has no plans on introducing the Amarok pickup truck into the United States market.

M5 & M6 Hurricane RR From G-Power

G-Power M5 Hurricane RR

Back in August, German tuning manufacturer G-Power released their version of the BMW M5 that established the World’s Fastest Sedan record. It has a top speed of 231 mph (372 km/h), similar to the legendary McLaren F1 launched in the 90s. The M5 Hurricane RR is the reiteration of the RS version that used a 551 kW (750 hp) V10 twin-supercharged engine, which was able to hit a top speed of 228 mph (367.4 km/h).

The M5 HRR received a 6.67% boost in power and was equipped with a 588 kW (800 hp) engine that has a whopping 590l lb-ft (800 Nm) torque. The car is able to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.35 seconds and 200 km/h (124 mph) in 9.5 sec. It will need about 25.8 seconds to get to 186 mph (300 km/h).

In order to achieve a respectable 25% space increase for the air volume, G-Power installed generous superchargers. The M5 RR sports 19-inch wheels covered by Michelin Pilot Sport Tires.

The current record might be taken down once the Bugatti 16C Galiber is officially available with its 8.0-liter 16 cylinder engine like the Veyron, but using superchargers (not turbochargers). The Bugatti will most likely be available starting with the second part of 2012.

G-Power M6 Hurricane RR

Recently G-Power came with another great car, the M6 Hurricane RR, based on the BMW M6. It has the same V10 800 PS & 800 Nm engine as the M5 version. Again, G-Power claims that this model is “world’s fastest 4-seat coupe.”

Although the coupe is quite heavy at almost 2,000 kg, it will only needs 4.35 seconds to do 0-100 km/h. For 0-200 km/h, the M6 Hurricane RR will need 9.5 seconds. 0-300 km/h is done in 24.9 seconds. This powerful model will roll on G-Power Silverstone Clubsport 20 inch forged rims (10 x 20 in the back, 9 x 20 in the front), covered by the 285/30ZR20 & 255/35ZR20 high performance tires.

For those of you interested in the M6 Hurricane RR, the basic price is €252,100 (including the standard BMW M6 car).

Mansory tunes the Maserati GranTurismo S, doesn’t make our eyes bleed

Tuning company Mansory isn’t exactly favored by many car fans, largely because it usually chooses to dress up its tuned models in questionable materials or paint jobs. We’ve seen an eye burning Porsche Panamera in Cobalt Blue, as well as a Bugatti Veyron with an interior wrapped in gold and various types of leather.

Now, things have gotten a bit more sensible, with the company’s newest tuning package for the Maserati GranTurismo and the GranTurismo S.

A complete carbon fiber body has been installed, consisting of front and rear aprons, new spoilers and a revamped grille. Everything, as you can see, has been dressed in a relatively tame black and red two-tone paint scheme.

In terms of performance, the GranTurismo and GranTurismo S now have 30 HP more than the stock models, and are equipped with a new suspension system that lowers ride height by 30mm. All of this is rounded off by a set of custom Mansory wheels in red and black inserts.

Armored Hennessey VelociRaptor SUV is perfect for the apocalypse

We’ve already praised the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor pickup truck quite a few times, but Hennessey newest version of the off-road ready monster is definitely worth a special look.

After releasing the upgraded VelociRaptor edition, the US tuner has revealed a new modification, the Hennessey VelociRaptor APV SUV.

The company decided to turn the pickup into a full pledged SUV and, just for the kicks, added special armor plating, in case people try to shoot you while you’re blazing through desert dunes and over huge rocks. A special non-armored version will appear in the future, but for an upcoming apocalypse, we prefer the one with armor plating.

At the heart of this new VelociRaptor is a 6.2-liter V8, tuned to develop 575 HP, and, as we’ve seen on the regular VelociRaptor, capable of impressive performance.

Pricing has yet to be revealed, but you can be sure that it’s going to require a bit of a financial effort.

Shelby considering new Ford Mustang models like a V6 GTS or a 1,000 HP twin-turbo GT500

Traditional Ford Mustang tuner Shelby has begun polling customers about what other types of tuned and upgraded models they might like to see in the future.

Among the options listed we see a monster Shelby GT500 (pictured above), based on the last generation performance model (2007-2009). This ugpraded muscle car would get a special variable twin-turbo system on the 5.4-liter V8 which will take output as high as 1,000 HP, all sent to the rear wheels. As you can imagine, upgraded suspension, a new wide body kit and plenty of other upgrades are also included. Sadly, the estimated price of $100,000, without the cost of a stock Shelby GT500, is a bit of a downer.

Luckily, Shelby is also considering a tuned version of the Mustang V6, presumably badged as a GTS model. The main upgrades will be made to the insides, including a revised suspension, braking system and a new exhaust. The exterior will also be treated with a special body kit. Pricing for the Shelby Mustang V6 GTS package is a bit more plausible, ranging from $9,000 to $12,000.

There are also two other concepts, based on the 2011 Mustang GT, which include most of the upgrades already revealed for the GTS. Still, those that want extra power from their GT can already choose from superchargers made by Ford Racing or Roush Performance.

Video: Six-wheeled Nissan SUV proves Arab Sheiks (don’t) know tuning

Here we are with yet another example of one rich Arab sheik’s ingenuity. It seems that Sheik Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan decided that his Nissan SUV needed something more personalized, for when he’s riding around the desert and checking out his oil fields.

That’s why he mounted another axle in the front of the car, and, through a customized hydraulics system, he can switch up the front axles.

Why? Nobody really knows, but when you’ve got his money, things like customized six-wheeled Nissan SUVs don’t need a reason.

Check out the crazy contraption in the video below.
