Cadillac Rolls Out Limited Edition CTS-V Wagon

Cadillac CTS-V Wagon

The CTS-V Wagon is Cadillac’s limited-production V model of the very successful CTS wagon. The heart that powers this car is a 6.2 liter, supercharged V8 that is capable of outputting an impressive 556 hp and a massive torque of 551 lb-ft. It is a rear wheel car that is equipped as standard with a 6-speed gearbox or with an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.

In comparison to the standard CTS model, the V is 0.59 inch (15 mm) lower and looks very aggressive thanks to the chiseled lines that give it a very distinguished appearance. Being a “V” model, it comes with a lot of goodies, including Brembo brakes, a magnetic ride control, and 19-inch aluminum rims covered by Michelin Pilot Sports tires. For those of you (not many we are sure) interested in the cargo room available, you will have 58 cubic feet, plenty enough in our opinion.

As standard, the car is offered with a Bose stereo system, navigation and heated seats (Recaro seats are optional at $3,400). People at AutoWeek took it for a spin and have nothing but nice things to say about it. They liked the raw power of the car and the very good materials used for the inside. Handling is top-notch and the magnetic ride control is not just a gimmick, it really does the job very good.

For those of you interested in this model you should know that it will be available in a very limited edition at a starting price of $62, 990. The car has a top speed of over 190 mph and 0-60 mph is done in exactly 4 seconds which is remarkable for a vehicle that weighs 4,390 lb.

2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen won’t use 2011 Jetta sedan platform

A few weeks ago, the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta sedan was revealed, boasting an upgraded design, increased size, an all-new platform and the promise to take on other mid-size models on the tough US market.

Now, as a blow to those who want a bit more practicality, Volkswagen has revealed that the 2011 Jetta SportWagen version won’t use the new platform. Instead, it will continue to sport the Golf mk V underpinnings, meaning it will keep its exterior dimensions largely the same.

Volkswagen admitted that it will make some interior changes, as well as bring in a few styling cues from the 2011 Jetta sedan. Except that though, don’t expect any other changes in terms of engines or other such things.

The Jetta SportWagen will continue to be made in Germany, while the 2011 Jetta sedan will be brought in from VW’s Mexico plant.

2011 Volvo V60 revealed, the Sports Wagon version of the S60

After Volvo revealed the impressive 2011 S60 sedan, it was only a matter of time before the Swedish company presented the wagon version of that same model.

Now, the 2011 Volvo V60 Sports Wagon has been formally revealed, complete with an impressive video.

In terms of equipment, you won’t find any big changes, as it really is just the wagon version of the S60 sedan. Still, Volvo did try to implement a more aggressive design, with a sloped rear end, aiming to really highlight the sporty nature of its sports wagon.

There are changes from a technical standpoint though, as two chassis versions will be offered, Touring and Dynamic. The main differences reside with the suspension system, which is much more responsive in the Dynamic flavor. Still, both versions will provide an adequate amount of comfort, even on low quality roads.

As usual for Volvo, a huge amount of safety systems are offered, including the Pedestrian Detection one, which premiered on the S60 sedan. Hopefully, all of the systems will work in real life conditions. All-wheel drive is offered as standard for the top-of-the-range version, while you can order it as an option for other ones.

In terms of engines, Volvo is throwing everything it has on the V60, with three diesels and no less than five gasoline units. The diesel range offers the 115 HP 1.6-liter DRIVe, the 163 HP 2.0-liter D3 and the 205 HP 2.4-liter D5. Gasoline fans will be able to choose from the 150 HP 1.5-liter T3, 180 HP 1.5-liter T4, 203 HP 2.0-liter 2.0T, 240 HP 2.5-liter T5, 304 HP 3.0-liter T6.

No word yet on US availability, seeing as how Volvo might operate some changes to the American lineup. Still, Europeans will be able to enjoy the sleek new 2011 Volvo V60 Sports Wagon starting this fall.

Until then, check out the photo gallery below and then hit the jump for an interesting presentation video.

Volkswagen CC Wagon version rumored

The Volkswagen CC (or Passat CC, as Europeans know it), is proving to be a pretty big sales hit for the German company. Through its combination of more upmarket accessories and a price without the added premium of brand recognition, like Audi or BMW, the CC is definitely a surprise hit.

That’s why Volkswagen executives are rumored to be considering a wagon version of the CC, in order to exploit a whole other niche.

Currently, it seems that the next generation Volkswagen Passat won’t be sold in the US. As such, VW leaders are considering a wagon versions of the CC, in order to fill the void left by the Passat’s departure.

While we’re not really holding our breath for this rumor, a utility-inclined five-door “coupe” does sound pretty tempting. What do you think? Would a wagon CC make any sense for the US market? Share your thoughts below.

Subaru reveals STI-tuned Legacy 2.5GT tS in sedan and wagon form

Subaru isn’t just about the Impreza and its numerous performance editions, as it has just revealed the newest creation of its STI tuning division, the Legacy 2.5GT tS.

In case you’re wondering, tS stands for ‘Tuned by STI’, which means that both the sedan and the wagon variants of the Legacy received a wide array of sporty and handling upgrades. Sadly, the 2.5-liter turbocharged Boxer engine hasn’t received any tweaks, keeping the power level at 265 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque.

Still, we’re pretty sure people will enjoy things like the enhanced aerodynamics, thanks to a restyled front bumper and a subtle rear spoiler. A set of 18-inch wheels were added, wrapped in performance tires. For the inside, customers will get a mix of leather and alcantara, complete with contrast stitching. STI branding is also par for the course.

The real improvements were made to the handling of the Legacy 2.5GT, as it received Bilstein suspension and new strut tower bars. Add in the upgraded sports exhaust system and you’ve got yourself a perfect ride for any self-respecting family person.

Sadly, the Subaru Legacy 2.5GT tS is exclusive to Japan, as only 600 models will be made. Still, you can bet STI is developing some upgrades for international Legacy models as well.

2011 Buick Regal might get wagon and hatchback variants plus diesel engine

The 2011 Buick Regal is quickly becoming the turning point for the Tri-Shield brand and a bold experiment for General Motors.

It seems that the badge-engineered Opel Insignia will share a lot of things with its European cousin. We’ve seen the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and the six-speed manual confirmed for the upcoming Regal, but some even bigger news have now been revealed by Car and Driver.

According to the magazine, the Regal will also receive the two other body styles of the Insignia, a slightly shorter five door hatchback form and a full pledged wagon version. While both are rumored to join the sedan at one point in time, we don’t know how much customers are going to have to wait.

Besides the new body forms, a special treat is prepared to US diesel fans, as such a unit will make its way onto the Regal in the future. No figures were given, but it will certainly boost the green credentials, alongside the flex-fuel capable gasoline engines.

Factor in the performance oriented Regal GS, and the new Buick model is set to really blow away the competition. What do you think? Share your thoughts below.

BMW 3-Series Touring Wagon Facelift Spy Shots

Scheduled to be released sometime next year, probably third of fourth quarter, the 2008 BMW 3-Series Touring Wagon was spied while being tested on the streets in Germany. As we can see from the photos, the car will get new headlights and tail-lights, new bumpers and new air intakes.

The 3-Series Touring customers will be able to choose between a 268 hp 3.5 liter V6, mated with a seven-speed automatic transmission and a 228 hp 3.0 liter V6 engine (mated to a six-speed manual transmission).
