BMW presents its Christmas gifts in the 2010 Lifestyle Collection


Even though there are still a few months before the winter holidays, BMW has already presented its new Lifestyle Collection, filled with interesting gift ideas for any dedicated BMW fan.

First off, as you can see above, is an electric miniature version of the BMW M3 GT2 race car, which can reach a ‘dizzying’ 1.5 mph and can go up to 1.5 hours before it needs to be recharged (hopefully things are better with the Megacity project).


Next up, for kids who like to spent their winter in the snow, BMW offers a special Snow Racer sled. It has a special steering system with built-in suspension, an ergonomic seat, and even a horn mounted on the handlebars.

Those who travel a lot can get a special BMW Joy backpack. It’s filled with compartments to store your various things, and is black with the Joy logo being branded in the center.


For the ladies, BMW offers a special watch. It has a black screen, on which the BMW logo is present. Even though it has German branding, the watch has been custom made in Switzerland, according to BMW.

Last but not least, we have a special USB memory stick, shaped like an actual BMW key. It can store up to 8 GB of data, and will certainly fool quite a lot of your friends.

Video: Lamborghini Gallardo shows off in the snow


When you consider vehicles made for snowy conditions, a Lamborghini Gallardo isn’t at the top of the list, to say the least.

But the team at Reiter Engineering believed that a set of BF Goodrich snow tires would be enough for the Gallardo to have some fun in the snow, at a German ski resort.

As a testimony to the efficiency of its all-wheel drive system, the Gallardo had no problems. To see the Italian supercar tear some snow up on the course, hit the jump.

Video: Rolls Royce Phantom goes drifting in the snow


As with any winter season, the snow provides not only worries and problems for drivers, but also the opportunity to have some serious fun.

But according to this recent video, this fun isn’t limited to normal car owners, as a Rolls Royce Phantom proves it can hold its own by drifting in the snow alongside performance cars like a Porsche Cayenne or a 911.

Video: BMW takes X5 M and X6 M on the ice skating rink


BMW is still quite confident in its X5 M and X6 M performance models, and has just released the third part of its Snow Action web series, in which the cars are thrown around various winter challenges, like drifting, going up and down a hill and now, in the latest video, gaining traction in slippery conditions like ice.

To do this, the company took the two cars on an ice skating rink. The same recipe is also used, with the BMW drivers showcasing the electronic systems of the X5 and X6 M models, which can get traction even on the ice from the skating rink, and then those systems are turned off, and the guys unleash the power of the big SUVs.

Video: BMW X5 M and X6 M drift on snow for educational purposes


You have to love BMW. After releasing the M editions of the X5 and X6 SUV and SAV, the company saw fit to “educate” its drivers in the finer ways of wielding the powerful behemoths (a lesson this guy probably missed).

As such, this video is the first in an educational series, which shows you how to gain control of your SUV if it is drifting on the snow. But while the instructor can say that with a straight face, I’m thinking he and his colleague just wanted to do donuts in the snow with the X5 M and X6 M.

BMW X5 M flips due to snow in mountain resort


You would think that with such a large and heavy car like the BMW X5 M, with its wide stance and all-wheel drive system, would have no trouble on a snowy road.

But not for this driver at least, which managed to flip the steroid-enhanced Bavarian behemoth on a road to a mountain resort in Europe. It seems that due to black ice, he hit a guard rail which apparently turned the big old SUV on its back.


Other details are scarce, but it’s not everyday that you see such a thing. Luckily the car protected its inhabitants, which came out with just a scare.

Video: What do you do when your car slides on ice? Jump out!


As it is with every winter season, many unsuspecting motorists venture out on the streets thinking that driving on snow or ice is just like in the rain, and they’ll be fine.

After that, videos like these surface to show us some of the results. This one, coming from the UK, shows a couple driving a Ford Fiesta in Paignton, and tried to go down a hill, coated in black ice. It seems they didn’t see the pedestrians who could barely climb nor a truck which was stuck for quite a few hours.

Needless to say, the car started sliding down the ice uncontrollably, so the couple decided to do the sensible thing: they jumped out the car!

Luckily, they weren’t badly hurt, but it still goes to prove that driving should be considered an extreme sport, especially in the winter. Hit the jump to see the video.

Video: BMW wishes everyone “Happy Holidays” with new X1-themed ad


BMW has just released a winter-themed ad, based around the new X1 model, which we recently had a chance to test drive.

It shows that the new baby crossover has what it takes to enter the X line of models, and is quite skilled in the snow. You can also send an X1-themed e-card to your loved ones by using the special service BMW has also revealed.

Tips on getting your car ready for the winter season


In most countries, the winter season is rapidly approaching, meaning that your precious car will be subjected to some serious wear and tear. Be the fastest on the slopes with Porsche Design bobsleigh and sledge


Just when you thought you’ve seen it all, comes this new release from the Porsche Design studios. Tired of branding things like clothing, watches, perfume, phones and other such “useless” objects, the company has just announced that for this winter season, you could be taking your own Porsche down the slope.

Sadly it isn’t a new discipline of downhill driving of some kind, as the company released a special bobsleigh and sledge so that you and your family can go down the slopes of your favorite winter destination in style. The bobsleigh guarantees the best handling and maneuverability, just like a real Porsche the press release says, weighing in at under 4 kilograms and will offer the best quality for people very enthusiastic about their winter sports.


The sledge, on the other hand, will be the more stylish choice, as it will be completely foldable and offers, besides the stainless steel runners, an artificial leather seat, branded with the Porsche logo. The two objects will come in special carrying bags, and are available at worldwide stores and on the Internet at the Porsche Design store.

Video: Nissan GT-R unleashed on the snowy Nurburgring

With the Nurburgring track covered in snow, you’d expect things to be quiet over there. But not when some mad Germans decided to have some fun. The guys from Autohaus Brömmler equipped a Nissan GT-R with a set Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 performance winter tires and took it for a spin around the track. Not the fastest lap the Ring has seen, but it definitely was incredibly fun. Enjoy!
