Volvo Plans To Hire 1,200 Workers And Increase Production Capacity
As most of you already know, the China-based Geely company is the owner of the Volvo brand, and they have big plans for the car manufacturer for the years to come. They want to reach 800,000 global sales annually by 2020 (or sooner). In order to make this happen, Volvo must increase the capacity of its factories and hire new employees.
Their first step will be to hire 1,200 workers in Europe to fulfill the increasing demand. 900 of these jobs will be only for the engineering department, boosting Volvo’s R & D center in Sweden. Another 200 employees will work at the company’s factory in Ghent, Belgium. The rest of 100 jobs will fill various other positions in the company. To increase the number of sales, Volvo wants to start building cars in China.
It is always a healthy sign when you hear that a manufacturer hires more workers and increases production. Let’s hope that this trend will involve soon other car manufacturers as well.
