2013 Toyota Avalon Announced

We haven’t heard in a while any news about Toyota’s Avalon but now we have fresh details about the upcoming 2013MY which will be offered with a choice of two power units. The base model is motivated by a V6 3.5-liter engine that cranks out 268 hp (272 PS / 200 kW) and a peak torque of 248 lb.-ft (336 Nm). This power unit is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox that allows the car to perform the 0-62 mph sprint in under 7 seconds. It has an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 21 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg in the combined cycle.

Also available is a hybrid version of the 2013 Toyota Avalon which comes with a 4-cylinder 2.5-liter engine with 154 hp (156 PS / 115 kW) and a 140 hp (142 PS / 104 kW) electric motor, along with a 245V nickel-metal hydride battery. The combined maximum power output of the hybrid Avalon is of 200 hp (203 PS / 149 kW) and returns an impressive 40 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway and 40 mpg in the combined cycle. This hybrid version of the Avalon features an EV mode which enables the car to run only on electric power for up to a mile at a speed of up to 25 mph.
