Audi preparing 600 HP twin-turbo R10 model? | Rpmgo.com

Before all of you Audi fans get excited, do bear in mind that this is just a rumor, but knowing the track record of Lamborghini, Audi is keen on getting a Murcielago-type model to the Gallardo-like R8. This means that a new model, dubbed the R10, is already in development, and will share the engine with the upcoming replacement for the aging Lamborghini Murcielago.

The unit in question is a massive twin-turbo 5.0-liter V10 engine, which will be mounted in the middle and send around 600 HP to all of the four wheels. The platform will also be shared with the new top-of-the-range Lambo, being built from aluminum with a dose of carbon fiber for good measure.

Rumors also suggest that the new model is already under serious tests, and might arrive as soon as 2012. Given the popularity of the R8, it does make some sense than an R10 will arrive sometime in the future, and with the e-Tron concept paving the way for a baby, more eco-friendly R model, the lineup from Audi will be complete.
