Range Rover Evoque Convertible
I’ve always liked the looks and style of the Range Rover Evoque but the idea of a convertible SUV is just ridiculous, but at least it is better than the hideous Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet. Anyway, Land Rover has introduced the concept at the Geneva Motor Show and in the next few months it will analyze whether they will put the model into production. The idea behind this concept is to figure out if there is a market for such a car, a method that Land Rover used before when they developed the DC100 concepts which could form the foundation of the new Defender.
Range Rover Evoque Convertible
The convertible version of the Range Rover Evoque could be 2WD or 4WD and either gasoline- or diesel-powered. According to the engineers from Land Rover, about 75kg of strengthening is necessary in comparison to the hard-top sibling which as you probably know is a huge success for the British automaker.
Range Rover Evoque Convertible
If the car will get the green light for production, Land Rover is going to spend two years for engineering the car before they will be able to actually sell this model. Most likely, the car will be manufactured at the company’s Halewood factory. The regular Evoque has been sold so far in approximately 50,000 units and the company has already got orders for another 60,000 cars so this convertible version might boost sales even further.
Range Rover Evoque Convertible
The concept shown at the event in Switzerland has a fully retractable roof system and can seat four people. It also benefits from a roll-over protection system while inside the cabin it has a lot of goodies, such as an 8-inch dual touchscreen display, surround cameras, Terrain Response, Meridian sound system and others as well. It rides on 21-inch alloys and comes in a metallic Causeway Grey paint.
Range Rover Evoque Convertible
If this drop-top version of the Range Rover Evoque will be produced, it will cost approximately 10-15% more than the 3-door hard-top version so it will carry a price tag of approximately 30,795 pounds in today’s money.

Citroen DS4 Racing revealed in Geneva
Perhaps the coolest car made by Citroen in the last few years is this DS4 Racing concept which previews a production version that most likely will be launched in early 2013 to rival the Renaultsport Megane and the Ford Focus ST. At the heart of this model is a 1.6-liter turbo engine that is capable of delivering no less than 256 hp which has been tuned by Citroen Racing.
Even though it offers 160 hp / liter, the French automaker says that the car has CO2 emissions of only 155 g/km. We don’t have any details regarding the economy and performance figures of the DS4 Racing but when the production version will come out, the car will probably be able to do the 0-62 mph sprint in less than 6 seconds, on its way to an electronically limited top speed of about 155 mph.
The chassis of the Citroen DS4 Racing has been lowered by 35mm, while the front and rear tracks are now considerably wider (55mm front / 75mm rear). It rides on big 19-inch alloys wrapped around in 235/40 tires. In addition, we notice a two-tone finish for the alloy wheels and the roof, while the concept is wearing a special matt grey paint.

Geneva Motor Show – Ford B-Max
The Blue Oval company has introduced this year at the Geneva Motor Show the new B-Max which will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Craiova, Romania. As you probably know this by now, the car is based on the new generation of the Fiesta and features innovative rear sliding doors that Ford calls Easy Access Door System.
They were able to install this interesting system of the B-Max by incorporating the B-pillars into the door themselves which offers an opening into the vehicle as wide as 1.5 meters, while the Opel/Vauxhall Meriva which is its main competitor can offer an access of only 0.7 meters. These rear doors of the new B-Max are made partially from ultra high strength steels that are up to 5x stronger in comparison to the conventional steels. Not only these are stiffer and stronger, the curb weight of the car hasn’t been affected by the implementation of this practical door system.
In the new Ford B-Max you can completely fold not only the rear seats but also the front passenger seat so that you can obtain a large load capacity which will allow you to insert an item that measures up to 2.3 meters in length.
No word about the price tag of the new Ford B-Max but most likely we will find this out soon as the car is scheduled to go on sale later on this year.

After being discounted about four years ago, the Ingolstadt-based carmaker Audi has launched last week at the Geneva Motor Show the all-new RS4 model which will be available only in the Avant version, just like the original version of the car that debuted back in 2000. This is the third generation of the model and is set to rival cars like the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG estate.
Why only Avant version? Audi has three reasons why they have taken this decision. First of all (and probably the most important factor for the company), these hot estates have always been more popular in terms of sales than their sedan siblings. The second reason is because the German automaker says that clients have started to move away from hot 4-door sedans. The last reason is related to the fact that the company believes that the S5 Sportback is powerful enough for those who want a 4-door performance Audi.
Under the hood of the 2013 Audi RS4 is the same engine that powers the RS5, which is a V8 4.2-liter naturally-aspirated unit that pumps out 444 hp at 8,250 rpm. Compared to the previous RS4, the new version adds 40 hp while the torque figure has remained the same at 317 lb.-ft, available between 4000 and 6000 rpm. The aforementioned C63 AMG from Mercedes has a V8 6.2-liter with 451 hp, while with the optional performance package it delivers 480 hp and 442 lb.-ft of torque.
Audi hasn’t said anything about the curb weight of the new RS4 Avant but most likely it is heavier than the RS5’s weight which stands at 1725 kg. What they did say is that the new RS4 is capable of doing the 0-62 mph sprint in only 4.7 seconds, which is 0.2 quicker than the previous model and only 0.1 slower than the RS5. In its standard configuration, the car an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph, while with the optional performance package it can hit 174 mph.
That powerful engine is mated to a dual-clutch, 7-speed automatic gearbox which features a manual mode which allows the driver to change the gears by using the paddles mounted on the steering wheel. As standard, the 2013 Audi RS4 comes with launch control. In addition, the entry-level model comes with the company’s quattro permanent AWD system and rides on 19-inch alloy wheels that are wrapped around in 265/35 tires. For more money the car can be fitted with bigger 20-inch alloys that come with 265/30 rubbers.
The brakes have been borrowed from the RS5 so it consists of cross-drilled and ventilated front steel discs that have a diameter of 365mm and are grabbed by the 8-piston calipers. If you have the extra money, your Audi RS4 can be equipped with bigger 380mm carbon-ceramic rotors in the front with 6-piston calipers.
The 2013 Audi RS4 manages to offer no less than 1430 liters of load capacity if you fold down the rear seats. The cabin comes with sports bucket seats, RS badging, a thick-rimmed steering wheel, along with a lap timer that has been incorporated in the infotainment system.
It should arrive in UK showrooms this fall and the starting price is estimated at about 55,000 pounds, while the aforementioned Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG estate is a little bit more expensive, with a base price tag of 56,765 pounds.

VW introduced last week at the Geneva Motor Show a hotter version of the Polo model which comes with the company’s 4-cylidner 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, benefiting from the cylinder deactivation system to save fuel.
This engine is capable of developing 138 hp and is enough to allow the car to hit 62 mph in 7.9 seconds, on its way to a maximum speed of 131 mph. The power unit is linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Polo GTI has the same engine but it produces 178 hp, allowing the car to do the 0-62 mph sprint in 6.9 seconds, en route to a top speed of 142 mph.
The new Volkswagen Polo Blue GT benefits from the ACT cylinder deactivation system that is capable of closing two of the two cylinders on part throttle loads, allowing the car to return 60.1 mpg UK. When fitted with the optional 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the Polo Blue GT is capable of returning 62.7 mpg UK.

We’ve always liked the simplicity and clean design of the Seat Toledo and it’s nice to find out that the Spanish automaker is preparing the fourth generation of the model. Last week at the Geneva Motor Show they introduced a concept of the Toledo but most likely the production version will be just about the same as the one shown at the event in Switzerland.
Scheduled to go on sale towards the end of this year, the new Toledo adopts a sleek hatchback/sedan design and it will be slotted between the entry-level Ibiza and the more premium Leon. The new model is entirely different than the third generation which was essentially a booted edition of the rather ugly Altea hatchback.
With the new Toledo, Seat is emphasizing on value-for-money and practicality, advertising the new model as a hatchback that offers respectable load-lugging capabilities. Thanks to the larger rear hatch, it enables a considerably easier loading and a folding rear bench. You have more than 500 liters to carry your stuff with the rear seats up.
Measuring 4480mm, this concept is 165mm longer in comparison to the Leon and has a width of 1693mm which is just about the same as the Ibiza has. The wheelbase of the Seat Toledo concept measures 2600mm.
As far as the styling is concerned, we have to say that it looks a little bit like the Skoda MissionL concept that we’ve seen last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It comes with a trapezoidal front grille that has a low and wide design, while the aggressive front headlamp shape is part of the company’s new design language which will see on other cars as well. Accessing the back seats should be easy thanks to the large rear doors, while the attractive shallow angle of the rear windscreen makes the car look more like a coupe.
The production version of the 4th gen Toledo is going to be based on the VW Group’s AO-plus platform which is a more advanced version of the AO-entry platform that VW uses for the cheaper cars like the Volkswagen Vento sold in India. As far as the engines are concerned, these will also be borrowed from the Volkswagen Group. This new model is going to be the sister-model of the upcoming Skoda Rapid which is the production version of 2011’s MissionL we’ve mentioned.
According to various sources within Seat, the fourth generation of the Toledo will have a starting price of 13-14,000 Euros in Spain.

The Blue Oval company introduced last week at the Geneva Motor Show the hot ST version of its popular Fiesta model. Last week at the Frankfurt Motor Show they brought the 5-door version of the concept while now at the Switzerland event they introduced the 3-door, production-ready version of the car.
Under its hood is the company’s 1.6-liter EcoBoost turbocharged engine that manages to deliver 178 hp and 177 lb.-ft of torque, which will be enough to allow the car to do the 0-62 mph sprint in less than 7 seconds, on its way to a maximum speed of more than 136 mph. As a reminder, the old model had a 2.0-liter Duratec engine that generated 148 hp and a peak torque of 140 lb.-ft, which allowed the car to hit 62 mph in 7.9 seconds, en route to a maximum speed of 130 mph.
Ford said that the new generation of the Fiesta ST is capable of emitting 20% less CO2 in comparison to the model it replaces, which means that it should emit approximately 142 g/km. The new model was developed y the company’s Team RS division which created a specially tuned chassis that is sitting 15m lower in comparison to the regular version of the Fiesta. Design-wise, it implements the latest styling signatures of the automaker, including here the big trapezoidal grille which looks a lot like the ones we’ve seen on Aston Martin models.
Inside the cabin, the Ford Fiesta ST comes as standard with Recaro sports seats, along with a choice of five colors, including Molten Orange, Performance Blue and Race Red. In addition, the car will benefit from the company’s MyTech technology which can allow the performance to be restricted depending on the driver.
Just like they did with the Focus ST, the new Fiesta ST will probably be offered in three trim levels, while the starting price should be of somewhere around 18,000 pounds.

Tesla Motors has introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show the company’s all new Model X which is a 7-seat full-size sport utility vehicle that is able to do the 0-62 mph sprint faster than a Porsche 911 and it also able to travel up to 270 miles with just one charge. The model is scheduled to go into production along with the company’s sexy Model S sedan by the end of next year.
About 60% of the X’s architecture is shared with the Model S and weighs about 10% more than the sedan, at just a little under two tons. Because of the additional bulk, the Model X will have a 10% less range in comparison to its sedan sibling. Clients will be able to opt for either the 60 kWh battery pack or the bigger 85 kWh pack. With the first one, the SUV will be able to offer a range of up to 210 miles while with the larger battery pack it should be capable of a 270-mile range.
The new Tesla Model X is capable of doing the 0-62 mph sprint in only 4.4 seconds while the Performance model which will be launched later on is going to be even quicker. The SUV benefits from an AWD system whereas the Model S adopts a RWD configuration. Each axle of the X will feature its own electric motor, while the power and torque will be sent directly to the suitable wheel in order to prevent slippage, maintaining the traction and stability of the vehicle without lowering economy or acceleration performance.
The word “wings” in the title refers to the car’s “falcon” rear doors which you certainly haven’t seen before on a big SUV like this Model X. Since this is an electric car, it has a second boot at the front for storing your stuff. Inside the cabin we find a massive 17-inch touchscreen display borrowed from the Model S and installed on the X’s center console with which the driver will control all of the car’s functions. One of the available options for the Model X is going to be a panoramic windscreen.
In North America, the Model X will have just about the same price tag as the sleek Model S, which means that the base price will be of around $50,000, up to the top-spec version which will cost about $90,000. When the production phase will commence, the Model X is going to be built at the company’s factory located in Fremont, California.

Aside from brining the hot TT RS Plus at the Geneva Motor Show, the Ingolstadt-based automaker Audi has introduced the new generation of the A3 hatchback, brining to the event in Switzerland the three-door version of the model.
This is the third generation of the A3 and brings a significant weight reduction, high-class premium interior, along with a very efficient lineup of gasoline and diesel engines. This is the first vehicle based on the VW Group’s new modular MQB platform that is going to be used for a lot of cars, from the small A1 to the A5 Sportback.
The lightest version of the new Audi A3 is the one that has a 1.4 TFSI engine, weighing only 1,175 kg which is 80 kg less than the equivalent model. Most of the car’s body is manufactured from high-strength steels while for the rest of the bodywork the German engineers have used aluminum for parts of the bumpers and the hood.
As far as the suspension is concerned, it comes with a MacPherson strut front configuration and a multi-link rear system. Those who want to buy the new A3 will be able to opt for an optional sport chassis that brings the car closed to the ground by 15mm, while with the optional S Line package it is lowered a further 10mm. The Drive Select package brings adaptive damping, while as standard it comes with 16-inch alloy wheels (up to 18-inch rims available).
The new generation of the Audi A3 measures 4237mm long, 1421mm high and 1777mm wide, making it 1mm shorter and 12mm wider than the outgoing model, while the height has remained the same. Even though the length is virtually the same, the engineers from Audi have managed to increase the wheelbase by 23mm for a grand total of 2601mm.
Upon launch, the new Audi A3 is going to be available with two gasoline engines and one diesel. The cheapest model will be powered by the aforementioned 1.4-liter TFSI that generates 120 hp and a peak torque of 148 lb.-ft, allowing the hatchback to complete the 0-62 mph sprint in 9.3 seconds, en route to a maximum speed of 126 mph. With this engine, the car manages to return 54.3 mpg UK and has CO2 emissions of 120 g/km.
The other gasoline engine is a bigger 1.8-liter TFSI with 178 hp and a maximum torque of 184 lb.-ft, enough for a 0-62 mph sprint in 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 144 mph. In the combined cycle, the car will return 50.4 mpg UK and has CO2 emissions of 130 g/km.
The only diesel engine which will be available upon launch is a 2.0-liter TDI that pumps out 141 hp and 236 lb.-ft, allowing the Audi A3 to hit 62 mph from start in 8.6 seconds, before hitting a maximum speed of 134 mph. With this more frugal engine, the Audi A3 returns 68.9 mpg UK and has CO2 emissions of only 106 g/km.
Later on this year, the German carmaker will offer the new A3 with a bigger 1.6-liter TDI engine which will be able to return an impressive 74.3 mpg and will have CO2 emissions of just 99 g/km. In addition, another engine that the A3 will get this year is a small 1.2-liter TFSI gasoline which will be replacing the 1.6-liter TFSI.
As far as the S3 is concerned, this will be powered by a bigger 2.0-liter TFSI gasoline engine which will be capable of producing 260 hp and will come with the company’s Quattro AWD system. In the future, we will probably see a hybrid version of the A3, along with natural gas and e-gas versions.
The 1.4 TFSI and 2.0 TDI engines will be getting as standard the 6-speed manual gearbox, while the 1.8 TFSI will be linked to a dual-clutch, 7-speed S tronic transmission. The 1.8 TFSI version will be getting the aforementioned Quattro all-wheel drive system in the last part of 2012.
Those of you who live in the United Kingdom will be able to get the car starting with September. The entry-level Audi A3 is going to cost approximately 19,000 pounds.

Geneva Show – 2013 Lexus RX
The Japanese automaker Lexus has unveiled this month at the Geneva Motor Show the facelift for the RX crossover which brings LED-infused headlights, front bumper, along with a spindle grille. Aside from these, the 2013 RX has a new look for the fog lights while the optional F Sport package brings 19-inch alloys and a unique front bumper.
Nothing important has changed inside the cabin, but we notice that there is a new ebony bird’s eye maple trim, along with an optional saddle leather upholstery package with contrasting stitching on the armrests, center console and also on the seats.
The 2013 Lexus RX is motivated by a V6 3.5-liter engine that pumps out 270 hp (274 PS / 201 kW) and a maximum torque of 248 lb.-ft (336 Nm). This power unit is linked to a 6-speed automatic gearbox that enables the crossover to do the 0-62 mph sprint in a decent 7.7 seconds, on its way to a maximum speed that has been electronically limited at 112 mph (180 km/h).
As for the RX 450h, this one comes with a V6 3.5-liter Atkinson-cycle power unit, two electric motors along with a 288V Ni-MH battery, generating a total output of 295 hp (299 PS / 220 kW), enough for a 0-62 mph sprint in 7.8 seconds and a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h).

Audi TT RS Plus launched at Geneva Motor Show
The most powerful version of Audi TT has made its debut this month at the Geneva Motor Show. Set to rival the new generation of the Porsche Boxster and the upcoming second-generation of the Cayman, the Audi TT RS Plus is motivated by a tuned version of the company’s 5-cylinder, 2.5-liter direct injection gasoline engine, the same one found in the TT RS and the RS3 Sportback.
This engine has been installed transversely over the car’s front wheels and stays in a bespoke carbon fiber-trimmed engine bay, generating 20 hp and 11 lb.-ft of torque more than the standard output of the power unit. This means that it is able to generate 355 hp and a maximum torque of 343 lb.-ft, which is 44 hp and 78 lb.-ft more than what the 6-cylinder 3.4-liter horizontally-mounted, naturally aspirated engine in the new Boxster S can offer.
Even though we are dealing with a more powerful car than before, the German automaker Audi has said that the TT RS Plus is capable of returning 33.2 mpg UK in the coupe variant and 32.8 mpg UK in the roadster flavor. The car also comes with a revised front MacPherson strut suspension as well as an updated multi-link rear chassis. It rides on black & red 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped around in 255/35 rubbers.
The production of the Audi TT RS Plus is scheduled to begin next month. Both versions of the car are going to be made at the company’s plant in Gyor, Hungary where they make the other TT versions and the A3 cabriolet.
In Germany, the car has a starting price of 60,650 Euros for the coupe variant while the roadster is more expensive, with a base price of 63,500 Euros. Those who want to get the TT RS Plus with the optional dual-clutch, 7-speed S-tronic gearbox will have to pay an extra 2,150 Euros.
