2008 Lamborghini Reventon

How can I make a car that looks acts and “flies” like a plane? That’s what the engineers of Lamborghini Labs must have asked themselves when they designed the car version of the F22 Raptor. We’re talking about the 2008 Lamborghini Reventon.

For the average customer this car is literally a fighter plane. And as “cheap” as one, bringing the Lamborghini Reventon to a high stakes price of $1.5 million.  The Lamborghini has been designed after the model of a F22 Raptor making it an incredibly stunning car. The entire exterior is filled with creases and triangular shapes and waves, like it’s meant to repel radar detection. If you look in the front,  the two rectangular shapes are used to direct air currents to the engine exactly like a jet fighter, where air is directed to the engine to be accelerated outside the exhaust charged with particles.

If you even dare enter inside it, you should first probably look for an ejector seat, since the inside of the car is an incredible reproduction of a jet fighter cockpit. And that isn’t only for façade. The car is blistering fast, launching itself forward on 0-60 mph in less that 3.4 seconds and heading for a top speed of a 211 mph.

Despite the fact that it’s very expensive, it is also very beautiful and unique. The exterior is built from carbon fiber, which makes the car body a jewel. The wheels are made from a special alloy with carbon fins, equipped with extremely efficient ceramic brakes, so necessary when it comes to that jet like full throttle. Even the inside seats are made from carbon fiber and tapped with Alcantara upholstery.

For those who want to test the car’s limit and their limit as well, there is even a G-force meter integrated among other thousands of electronics. Automatic climate control and a complete CD/DVD/MP3 are there to preserve the mood for driving. Not that you’d need much incentive when driving something like that.

The performance of this car is simply off the charts, first of al it’s all-wheel-drive . Powered by a 6.5 liter V12 engine it develops a heart stopping 650 hp. The single-clutch transmission is automatic, since the acceleration is so dramatic you won’t be able to shift fast enough to get to optimal performance on a full scale test. Since it’s engine is so tiny compared to a… tank, fuel economy is not a part of the equation,  therefore, at top speed you can say goodbye to a full tank of gas in under 22 minutes.

In the safety department, on the other hand, the Lamborghini is fully equipped: featuring antilock brakes, and a highly advanced traction control and stability control that will keep you glued to the road even at 200 mph.

But all the technical data, all the prices and the specs, the high techs are useless. Test drivers are the one that can give us the true insight when it comes to this car. The only truth is that this car is packed to the teeth with technology that makes you feel more flying than driving. And if it defeated a jet fighter, than it’s worth every cent.
