2009 Chevrolet
Even if it resembles any other Corvette, the relatively new 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is totally different under the hood. Moreover, this car is the most powerful car manufactured by General Motors and is a serious competitor for Ferrari and Lamborghini. The name of this car was a real debate but in the end the team decided to use once again the ZR1 badge, because they believed that it’s the best fit for this remarkable car.

Maybe the car’s style doesn’t say much, but the 638 horsepower that are under the hood will definitely overwhelm anyone. Even the Eurocar snobs will remain speechless when they will realize how sophisticated the engineering is. The ZR1 goes from zero to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds overcoming the Ferrari Enzo and even more its rear brakes are the same as those that make the Bugatti Veyron a supercar.
When it comes to the engine, this car has the best of the best. The engine is a Roots-type supercharger produced by the Eaton Corporation. This type of engine produces more power when you blow more air into it. The sixth generation design of engines named LS9 V8 it’s a complete novelty introduced by Chevrolet. It has two rotors with four lobes and the blower is placed low in the engine’s block. Other features of the engine include: the titanium connecting rods, the steel main bearing caps or the aluminum pistons.
The transmission is a Tremec TR6060 with quicker shifting and a dual-disc clutch assembly that provides an increase of the torque capacity. These aren’t all the improvements the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 uses to convince its buyers. The chassis was put under the microscope by the engineers and it has the usual aluminum structure, but also some carbon fiber components. For this 2009 Chevrolet the antiroll bars, the brakes and the tires got some special attention as well, because the engineers chose to update these components.
This 2009 Chevrolet uses for the first time a carbon composite brake system with large carbon ceramic rotors (measure 15.5 inches in diameter in front and 15.0 in back). Michelin provides the tires for the ZR1, so this car has Pilot Sport 2 ZP tires and is ready to go at any given moment. The options available for the wheels are chrome or silver painted. The antiroll bars are larger in diameter and the MR dumpers are perfect if you drive on smooth road or on rough terrain. No limitations there! The hardware and the software were also improved.
Even if this car maintains the style of the Corvettes, the majority of the body panels were redesigned to improve the aerodynamics. You have a lot of choices when it comes to the car’s exterior and colors. When it comes to front fenders, roof, hood and suspensions I must let you know that all those components are made of stiff and light material. The other components: the splitters that are attached to the front of the car, the rockers and the pillar bow are left unpainted to impress the viewers.

The interior of the car is opulent and includes leather-trimmed interior, power adjustable seats, Bluetooth connectivity, satellite navigation and other gadgets. But the most interesting feature is the polycarbonate window (measures 17 by 19 inches) and its special position, on the hood.
The 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is a dream car! Reasons for buying it are plenty, but high performance and the quality features are among the strongest ones. I think we can truly call this 2009 Chevrolet a “supercar”!
