Car Electrical Problem
If you are having a car electrical problem it can be quite difficult to trace the wire that is causing this issue. Any minor electrical short in your vehicle can end in a dead battery and even worse, leave you with no power to run. With this article we will try to give you a few ideas about how to fix this problem.
First of all, you need to disconnect the battery’s negative pole and after that hook it to your circuit test light to the negative pole. You now need to touch the point of the tester to the negative side of the battery and check if it will light up. If it will light up, it means that you have a short in your electric system.
For this reason, you need to continue monitoring the light on the tester and pull the car’s fuses until the light turns off. When it does, it means that you have spotted the circuit that contains the shorts. Remember that the fuses must be pulled one by one.
After doing so, you need to trace the lines that are leaving and going the fuse box for that circuit that is causing you problems. Once you have detected the short, you now have two ways to fix this issue. The first one would be to wrap the exposed wire by using a few layers of electrical tape in order to seal the bare wire, but it isn’t recommended that much.
Your other alternative to fix the car electrical problem would be to cut the wire at the point of the short and after that install a type of connector that sports mated male & female connectors. This second method is considered to be the most reliable long-term solution for your problem and should be used if you encounter such difficulties with the electric system of your vehicle. The connectors must be crimped onto the wire’s two sides and after that, the wire must be connected to the circuit and monitored with the circuit tester. You need to monitor the tester as well as its state as you replace the old fuse and test the circuit once again to see that everything works as it should.
