Used Car Ratings Part 2
Today we continue the article started yesterday about used cars that have received good ratings and we talk about the minivan/van segment where we have to recommend the 2004-2009 Honda Odyssey.
Before 1999, the Odyssey was a station wagon and that year it was replaced by the minivan which has the most powerful 6-cylinder engine in the segment, along with a hide-away third-row seat and a very generous interior cabin. In addition, it has obtained great scores in safety tests plus it is has the automaker’s reputation for reliability and quality.
If you are interested in purchasing a compact truck, have a look at the Toyota Tacoma models manufactured between 2004 and 2009. Aside from the popular strengths of excellent overall quality and perfect reliability, it is a proper pickup truck that should meet all your needs. You could have a look at the PreRunner edition which has the ride height, suspension and aggressive tires of a four-wheel-drive truck but without the fuel appetite and the added complexity.
For a larger truck we’d have to recommend the legendary Ford F-150 (2004-2009 models), which if you didn’t know is the top-selling car in North America for over the last 20 years. It is available in an extensive variety of trim levels, cab styles and manages to offer a smooth ride, great ergonomics, precise steering, good brakes and excellent engines.
In the luxury department we find the 2004-2009 Infiniti G35/G37 that has a rear-wheel drive configuration and it is powered by a V6 engine. It comes with a sporty suspension tuning and the interior cabin is very spacious, while the maintenance costs are lower than most of the other cars in this segment, including the BMW 3-Series.
If you want a greener car, have a look at the hybrid offerings where you will find the 2004-2009 Toyota Prius as being a top choice. Adopting a hatchback design for the second generation – the first model was a sedan – the Japanese engineers managed to vastly improve the room inside the cabin and also the trunk space, even though the car has a relatively small body. The car has become famous mostly for its excellent fuel economy without having to compromise the performance.
Those of you who are interested in purchasing a sport compact vehicle could be interested in the Subaru Impreza WRX, the cars that came out between 2004 and 2009. With a fun-loving personality and spirited performance, this model is very popular among enthusiasts who are on a limited budget. The 2009 model came with 41 hp more and firmer suspension calibrations.
