Chevrolet Van

The full size Chevrolet van, known as Chevrolet Express, was introduced in 1965 for the first time and during its lifetime it suffered only one major redesign. From one version to another many improvements were made, but only in 1995 the Chevrolet Express was redesigned and received a modern look.

The redesign transformed the Chevrolet Express into a more interesting van for the customers and into a strong competitor for the Econoline manufactured by Ford. The 2003 changes suffered by the Chevrolet Express didn’t suppose a major redesign, but the Chevrolet van benefited from some new features including a wider selection of V8 engines, a stronger frame, upgraded brakes and the all-wheel drive system. Moreover, the interior wasn’t forgotten either and benefited from some improvements transforming this van into a safer and more capable vehicle than it was before.

The 2006 Chevrolet Express is available as a half ton, quarter-ton and one-ton version and with two trim levels: LS and LT. The first level of trim is equipped with air conditioning, AM/FM stereo and a theft-deterrent system. On the other hand, the LT models feature power windows, cloth upholstery, cruise control, keyless entry, rear-seat climate controls and door locks. The alloy wheels, the powered driver and front-passenger seats and a high-tech audio system became also available as optional equipment.

Under the hood, the standard Chevrolet Express of 1500 tons is equipped with a 4.3 liters V6 engine and a two-wheel drive system. This engine produces 195 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.  The all-wheel drive version of the 1500 ton van is equipped with a 5.3 liters V8 engine which produces 295 horsepower and 335 pound-feet of torque. The 2500 models are equipped with a 4.8 liters V8 engine producing 285 horsepower or with a 6.0 liters V8 engine while the 3500 models are powered by a 6.0 liters V8 engine. All the 1500 models have a four speed automatic transmission while the 2500 and 3500 models are equipped with a heavy-duty version of this transmission.

Chevrolet Van

The Chevrolet van has a functional interior even if not incredibly pretty. The instrumentation is simple and placed handy for the driver. The buyers have the opportunity to choose a 60/40 split drive-side doors. As a result, the passenger can access the rear seats easier. The 2006 Chevrolet Express is available with a standard configuration of 12 seats, but you can pick as well 8 or 15 passenger arrangements depending on the model you choose.

When it comes to safety, the Chevrolet van is equipped with four-wheel antilock brakes. The light-duty models have also a front passenger sensing system which deactivates the front airbag if a small adult or a child is sitting up front. In the case of the heavy-duty models, this system can be deactivated manually. The Chevrolet Express has also a stability control system, but this system is available only for the one ton regular wheelbase van as a standard feature.

When it comes to handling this Chevrolet Express, the larger sway bars, the strong frame and the standard four-wheel antilock disc brakes make this Chevrolet van a fierce competitor for the other vans available on the market. And, as a result, driving safely becomes an easier task.

The Chevrolet van is a good choice for day-to-day driving and offers you all the features and comfort you need in order to function during a day. The most important thing is that the Chevrolet Express isn’t so expensive. The price varies between $10,897 for the LS 1500 model and $12,018 for the LS 3500. That’s good news, isn’t it?
