TechTec BMW 1-Series M Coupe
The German tuners over at TechTec have revealed their latest upgrade program for the BMW 1-Series M Coupe. The initial stage will set you back 1,500 Euros and for this money you will get 40 hp more, rounding up the output figure of the engine to 375 hp (380 PS / 280 kW) and 428 lb.-ft (580 Nm), up from the standard 335 hp (340 PS / 250 kW) and 369 lb.-ft (500 Nm) of torque.
TechTec BMW 1-Series M Coupe
If this isn’t enough, you have the possibility to opt for the second stage of this tuning program, but prepare to pay 2,500 Euros and in return you will get 395 hp (400 PS / 294 kW). For 800 Euros more, you will get a new air cooler and the power output will go up to an impressive 444 hp (450 PS / 331 kW) and 465 lb.-ft (630 Nm) of torque, which will be enough for a 0-62 mph sprint in only 4.1 seconds.

After the last few months in which we’ve discussed about the upcoming M5, sharing spy shots, talking about the concept version, debating rumors and speculations, the German automaker has finally unveiled the production model of the highly anticipated M5. Probably the first thing that you will notice is the fact that it looks almost identical to the concept.
2012 BMW M5
In the front, we see that they’ve kept the same aggressive front look, along with the aerodynamic side skirts and a small diffuser out in the back. The grill now features black slates, while the front fenders got vents. Other goodies include the adaptive xenon lights, those impressive 19-inch alloy rims and a four-tailpipe exhaust system.
2012 BMW M5
Inside the cabin, the 2012 BMW M5 features Merino sport seats wrapped around in leather, an “M” steering wheel that has two buttons which you can use in order to choose from the pre-selected transmission, engine and suspension setups. Other modifications include the updated instrument cluster, a generous 10.2-inch iDrive display, aluminum trace trim and an Anthracite headliner.
2012 BMW M5
The most interesting aspect of the new model is its engine, a V8 4.4-liter twin-turbo unit that features a cross-bank exhaust manifold, generating 552 hp (560 PS / 412 kW) and 502 lb.-ft (680 Nm) of torque. This power unit is mated to a 7-speed M double clutch gearbox, allowing the car to do the 0-62 mph sprint in 4.4 seconds, 0-124 mph in 13 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) or 190 mph (305 km/h) if you opt for the M Driver’s Package. A great thing about this powerful engine is the fact that it doesn’t need a lot of fuel, managing to do 23.8 mpg (9.9 liters / 100 km) while CO2 emissions stand at 232 g/km.
2012 BMW M5
The 2012 BMW M5 has been fitted with electronically controlled dampers, along with high performance compound brakes, Servotronic steering system and an Active M Differential.
2012 BMW M5
BMW hasn’t shared any information regarding the price tag of the new M5, but we will have more information on June 23rd when the M Festival starts.

BMW M3 Frozen Black
It was only last year when BMW revealed the Frozen Gray Coupe edition of the M3 model and now we get to see the Frozen Black one, featuring a matte black exterior, gloss black accents, 19-inch GTS rims and red brake calipers.
BMW M3 Frozen Black
As far as the interior is concerned, this special edition of the M3 comes with Novillo leather upholstery, “carbon leather” trim and red contrast stitching. Other goodies include the GPS navigation system, a premium audio system and heated front seats.
BMW M3 Frozen Black
The bad news is that they didn’t make any modifications under the hood where we find the same V8 4.0-liter engine that generates 414 hp (420 PS / 309 kW) and 295 lb.-ft (400 Nm) of torque. This engine is mated to an M Double Clutch Transmission and allows the M3 to do the 0-62 mph sprint in 4.5 seconds.

BMW will make only 20 units of this special edition and the base price is $79,650.

The German tuners over at Kelleners Sport have decided to come up with an upgrade program for the BMW Z4 sDrive35is. They took the model fitted with the 3.0-liter twin turbocharged 6-cylinder engine and increased the output of the unit to 400 hp (405 PS / 298 kW) and 398 lb.-ft (539 Nm), significantly more than the standard 335 hp (340 PS / 250 kW) and 332 lb.-ft (450 Nm).
The car can be equipped with rims measuring 19- or 20-inches from Berlin or Hamburg, while the lowering springs bring the car closer to the ground by 20 mm (front axle) and 10 mm (rear axle).
As far as the inside is concerned, this tuned Z4 benefits from a 3-spoke sport steering wheel, velour floor mats and aluminum pedals and foot rests. Customers can also get wood trims and interior finishes in leather.

We like the new commercials for the “sporty and fuel-efficient” 1 Series. The concept of the ads introduces two brothers with different habits and personalities which drive the same new BMW stunning model car.
Freddie and Adam’s story will eventualy turn into a short-film. With just a couple days past since the ad’s launch, the second commercial was reveiled and gave the story continuity. The brothers started testing the cars, with different points of view, of course. We’ll let you watch the clip and decide which of the brothers is your favorite.

2012 BMW 1-Series
I always considered the 1-Series to be the ugliest car BMW has ever made and the new generation is even uglier than before. The German automaker will launch the car this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show and although it looks more substantial than the car that it will be replacing, that front fascia which looks like the 5-Series GT (another design flop) was a very bad idea.
2012 BMW 1-Series
There are good things about it though, like the fact that it offers a roomier cabin thanks to the fact that the wheelbase now measures 105.9 inches (2.69 meters). In addition, the luggage capacity has also been raised by an additional 7 cubic feet (200 liters).
2012 BMW 1-Series
Clients (not many I’m sure) will have to pick from the long list of engines which will be available upon launch. For example, the 1.6-liter gasoline engine will be offered in three output configurations: 134 hp (136 PS / 100 kW), 168 hp (170 PS / 100 kW) and probably a little bit later, the 247 hp (250 PS / 184 kW) unit.
2012 BMW 1-Series
If you are a diesel man, the 2012 BMW 1-Series will get a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, capable of outputting 114 hp (116 PS / 85 kW), 141 hp (143 PS / 105 kW) or 181 hp (184 PS / 135 kW). All these engines will be mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an 8-speed automatic transmission.
2012 BMW 1-Series
All of the 1-Series variants will benefit from BMW’s start/stop system and the regenerative brakes technology as part of the company’s EfficientDynamics strategy. This means that the car will be able to return from 40.6 to 54.7 mpg (4.3 to 5.8 liters / 100 km).

We’ve learned from our colleagues at autocar.co.uk that BMW is working on a more powerful and faster version of the M3 sedan, before the next generation of the 3-Series debuts next year. These spy shots were taken on the Nurburgring track and we know that this hotter M3 will get the same V8 4.4-liter engine as the one in the M3 GTS. In addition, the car will go on a diet and lose some pounds, making it a more track-focused model.
The 0-62 mph sprint should be done in a mere 4.5 seconds, while top speed will be almost 190 mph. Expect to see some changes in the suspension and braking configuration of the car. From these spy shots we can see that the new variant of the M3 sedan will look a little bit more aggressive, featuring updated front and rear bumpers, along with new front and rear splitters as well as some lighter body panels borrowed from the aforementioned M3 GTS. In addition, it will take the GTS’ lightweight sports exhaust system.
The car will be slotted above the standard M3 and under the M3 GTS, which usually was M3 CSL territory, but we don’t know if the car will wear this moniker.

BMW M3 Carbon Edition
Yet another special edition of the BMW M3 will be reaching the Chinese market in the future. This time, it is the M3 Carbon Edition that follows the M3 Matte Edition, which was introduced just a few months ago.
The new one has a bespoke look with a black-painted grille, a front bumper that has black carbon accents, side body stripes, along with a new set of 19-inch alloy rims. Inside the cabin, there is two-tone leather upholstery, special badging (of course) and carbon fiber trim.
This special edition is powered by the same engine we find in the regular M3, which is a V8 4.0-liter unit that generates 414 hp (420 PS / 309 kW) and has a peak torque of 295 lb.-ft (400 Nm). This engine will be mated to a 7-speed, dual clutch gearbox, which will allow the car to do the 0-62 mph sprint in 4.6 seconds, before reaching a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
BMW will make only 111 units of this M3 Carbon Edition and prices start from 1.23 million yuan.

This month, BMW North America has unveiled a national advertising campaign to help combat distracted driving. The theme of the campaign is “DON’T TXT & DRIVE” and it has started with some very emotional video spots, in which over-protective parents are careless when it comes to texting while driving. The result is that they expose their family to risk and fail their “job” as parents when they text while being behind the wheel.
The entire campaign will be built around this concept, involving both kids and parents, and will also use suggestive ads (television, print, online and radio) to illustrate different situations of distracted driving. In addition to this, campaign’s message will also be incorporated in more than 100 teen driving schools from across the United States.
“Distracted driving is an epidemic in America, and it has deadly consequences for thousands of people on our roads each year. (…) Putting a stop to these needless deaths, as well as hundreds of thousands of injuries will require everyone to take personal responsibility for safe driving. I am grateful to BMW for their efforts to raise public awareness about distracted driving and for urging drivers to put down their phones and focus on the road. I hope that other automakers will follow their lead.”
said U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood
BMW’s initiative is to raise awareness of the fatal effects of texting while driving. It is already known that, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly 5500 persons died in car accidents involving distracted drivers, and nearly 87 percent of teens admit they text while driving.
This isn’t the first initiative of this type came from BMW: in Spartanburg, South Carolina, BMW’s Teen Driving Shool has trained in safe driving more than 3000 young drivers for the last 10 years.
The “DON’T TXT & DRIVE” campaign runs through the rest of the year.
This is the first video released:
So, what do you think about the video: is it too emotional?

BMW has recently announced that it will start using two new lighting technologies on its cars:
1. “BMW Dynamic Light Spot”: a system with infrared sensor which detects animals or people at 328 feet (the equivalent of 100 meters) in front of the vehicle. Whenever something is detected on the road, a beam of light focuses on the object and alerts the driver. 2. “Glare-free high beam assistant”: a system that is meant to increase safety by preventing glare. It uses a camera which locates the oncoming vehicles and then “adjusts” the headlights, even if the high beam has been already switched on.
In addition to those technologies, BMW has also worked to an optional full-LED headlight, debuting in the new BMW 6 Series Coupé.
By using this lighting technology, BMW increases considerably the safety for night driving. Apparently, the DLS will be included in the Night Vision package.
What is your opinion about BMW’s new lighting technology?

Celebrating 75 years from the birth of BMW 328 the Hommage prototype has one of the most stunning car designs in history. If in the 1930s the 328 was a dreamy sports car for every driver, 75 years later BMW doesn’t stop to impress. We think it is fair to say that this is one of the most beatiful custom made cars all-time.
This beauty features some unique details including exterior leather side-straps, no car doors, carbon fibre re-enforced plastic, retro round headlights and last but not least, iPhone gauges.
The two built-in iPhones display lap times, GPS maps and other regular informations about the car’s status and are meant to replace the usual board gauges.

BMW 6-Series GranCoupe
Remember the BMW Gran Coupe concept that we saw last year? Well, we already know that the German automaker is working on a production version of that cool-looking concept and according to an unknown Chinese website; the car will look just about the same as it does in these renderings.
BMW 6-Series GranCoupe
Just like the coupe and convertible versions of the 6-Series, the GranCoupe is expected to feature a 6-cylinder 3.0-liter turbocharged engine that develops 320 hp (324 PS / 9 kW) or a more powerful V8 4.4-liter that churns out 407 hp (413 PS / 304 kW).
BMW 6-Series GranCoupe
The official debut of the BMW 6-Series GranCoupe should occur sometime next year and it will have to face up some serious competition coming from the Audi A7 and the Mercedes CLS.

2011 BMW X5
The guys over at Automobile have found out that the new generations of the BMW X5 and X6 will come with a lot of improvements in the fuel efficiency area and they will also emit less CO2. Both crossovers will benefit from new axles that are going to be 150 kg (330 pounds) lighter than the current ones. Combining this with other weight-saving implementations, the base next-gen X5 model might have a curb weight of less than 1,814 kg (4,000 lbs).
Both the X5 and the X6 will benefit from a new generation of fuel-efficient power units. Aside from the usual 6- and 8-cylinder engines, the crossovers will be available with two smaller 4-cylinder units, a gasoline and a diesel. In addition, hybrid versions are also under development, like one with a 6-cylinder 345 hp (350 PS / 257 kW) engine and a 108 hp (110 PS / 81 kW) electric motor.
Even the hot “M” models will be “greener” as the report says that they will be up to 15% more fuel efficient than the ones we see on the road nowadays. However, they’ll still feature the same engine, which is a V8 twin-turbo 4.4-liter, but they will update it in order to output 557 hp (565 PS / 416kW).
As far as the design is concerned, the BMW X6 will feature a more functional appearance which will improve the rear passenger headroom and the rearward visibility. Inside the cabin, expect to see a look inspired from the 5-Series GT, featuring a panoramic moonroof, wood trim, leather upholstery, along with power-operated rear seats.
The report says that we should expect the next-gen BMW X5 to make its first official appearance at the 2014 edition of the North American International Auto Show. The X6 will be out six month later.

BMW M5
During the Shanghai Motor Show last month, BMW brought a concept version of the upcoming M5 and now we have some fresh spy shots with the production model which will hit the dealerships towards the end of this year. The guys over at AutoCar managed to take these photos somewhere near Nurburgring.
BMW M5
It will make its official debut this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show and it will be powered by a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbocharged V8 engine that generates 552 hp and has a peak torque of 510 lb.-ft, which is 52 hp and 126 lb.-ft more in comparison to the outgoing model that packs a V10 5.5-liter naturally-aspirated power plant.
BMW M5
With this engine, the new M5 will be able to do the 0-60 mph sprint in about 4.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 155 mph (limited just like all “M” models). The German automaker said that the new generation of the M5 will be 25% more fuel efficient compared to the model that it will replace, thanks to the fact that it will feature the company’s EfficientDynamic technologies, like: start/stop function, disengaging alternator and brake energy recuperation.
BMW M5
BMW is also developing an all-wheel drive version of the upcoming M5 in order to satisfy its U.S. clients, where AWD Audi and Mercedes/AMG models are selling very well.
BMW M5
In the United Kingdom, prices should start from around 75,000 pounds.

2011 BMW 7-Series
According to the CEO Norbert Reithofer, the German automaker BMW is thinking about the possibility to build a plant in Russia as part of the company’s ongoing global expansion into the emerging markets. This new plant might be built in one of the country’s industrial clusters, in either St. Petersburg or Kaluga, where there are already other car plants from various manufacturers.
If this factory will exist, BMW will make a lot of models there, like the X1, X5 and X6 crossovers, along with the 3-, 5- and 7-Series sedans. At the moment, the cars are assembled under license in Kaliningrad by Avtotor, a local partner of the company.
