Carlsson CGL45 Revealed, Based on Mercedes GL Grand Edition
Carlsson CGL45
Carlsson decided that the Grand Edition of the Mercedes GL isn’t “grand” enough so they’ve come up with this CGL45 model that will make its official debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show which will open its doors next month.
As you can see, the GL has been fitted with massive flared wheel arches, a chrome grille, a fresh new front spoiler; those LED daytime running lights fitted in the front spoiler lip while looking at the car’s back we notice a new apron and stainless steel exhaust system that has an oval quad-pipe configuration.
They also tweaked the V6 3.0-liter diesel engine and it now manages to produce 306 hp (310 PS / 228 kW) and a peak torque of 516 lb.-ft (700 Nm) of torque, up from the standard 261 hp (265 PS / 195 kW) and 442 lb.-ft (600 Nm). If you have the GL 500 model that has the more powerful V8 engine, they can lift its power to 430 hp (435 PS / 320 kW) and 442 lb.-ft (600 Nm) of torque.
In addition, the Mercedes-Benz GL Grand Edition can be lowered by 30 mm thanks to the intelligent suspension-lowering system and the car can get 22-inch alloys that have a 1/5 Brilliant Edition design and are covered in high-performance rubber that measure 305/35ZR22 on all four corners.
Inside the cabin, the CGL45 comes with Alcantara and leather upholstery, along with stainless steel and wood trims, Carlsson-badged door sills, aluminum foot pedals. On the headrests, you’ll find the logo of the tuner.

Mercedes SLK Tuned By Brabus
Mercedes SLK by Brabus
You all know how Brabus has a soft spot for Mercedes and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that their latest project is based on the sexy SLK. Design-wise, they’ve come up with a new front lip spoiler and a whole bunch of wheels that are available in sizes from 17 to 19 inches. At the back, they can fit your SLK with a trunk-mounted spoiler, a four-tailpipe sport exhaust system and a diffuser. In addition, they’ll also throw in a suspension lowering kit that brings your car closer to the ground by 30 mm. Inside the cabin, you can order aluminum pedals, Alcantara or Mastik leather, along with stainless steel scuff plates.
The major update is under the hood where Brabus can equip the 4-cylinder power units with ECO PowerXtra CGI auxiliary control modules, increasing the hp figure of the 200 BlueEFFICIENCY model by 26 hp (25 hp / 19 kW) and 22 lb.-ft (30 Nm) for a grand total of 207 hp (209 PS / 154 kW) and 206 lb.-ft (280 Nm).
If you own the SLK 250 BlueEFFICIENCY model, they can dial up the power output from the standard 201 hp (204 PS / 150 kW) to 226 hp (230 PS / 169 kW). If this isn’t enough, you can opt for the wastegate valve and the special intercooler that raises the power to 236 hp (240 PS / 176 kW) and 273 lb.-ft (370 Nm) of torque, allowing the SLK to do the 0-62 mph sprint in 6.2 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 154 mph (248 km/h).

Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Discontinued
One of our favorite cars here on rpmGO is the Mercedes SL65 AMG and it seems that the German automaker has decided to stop making it anymore. This decision follows the death of the SL600 and is one of the steps that MB is taking in order to prepare the redesigned model. If you remember, the car had a massive V12 6.0-liter twin-turbo engine that churned 604 hp (612 PS / 450 kW) and had an impressive peak torque of 737 lb.-ft (1,000 Nm).
We don’t know for sure if Mercedes-Benz will stop making V12 engines for good, but according to previous reports the chances of this happening are quite big, mostly because of the increasing standards as far as CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency are concerned.

Our esteemed colleagues from WorldCarFans have managed to grab a couple of spy shots with the upcoming AMG version of the Mercedes-Benz ML63. These photos were taken near the automaker’s Nurburgring testing facility and we can see that it will have an updated front grille, restyled bumpers and a very nice four-tailpipe exhaust system. Aside from these, expect to see AMG wheels, bigger brakes and a sport-tuned suspension.
The 2012 Mercedes ML63 AMG will probably be powered by a twin-turbo V8 5.5-liter that will produce 518 hp (525 PS / 386 kW) and a peak torque of 516 lb.-ft (700 Nm). This engine is going to be mated to a 7-speed Speedshift MCT gearbox which should be enough for a 0-62 mph sprint in less than 5 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz Work at Building the Future of Multimedia
Mercedes-Benz are known for their investment in innovation and technology. After many work to get where they are, internet access on-board Mercedes-Benz vehicles was introduced this year. But this was not the moment for them to stop developing their cars. So they’ve came with the idea of holistic and natural interaction. The company has showed at the TecTalk “@ your command” how their engineers think multimedia future would look like in telematics and infotainment.
The result of their vision: a COMAND infotainment with apps, search and advanced navigation incorporated, which offers to the driver the possibility to interact with the system.
How they are going to do that: by expanding voice commands with natural language dictation for different options, such as emailing, text messaging, internet browsing. By simply asking a question, the device tells you exactly what you are looking for. Additionally, the user interface will feature fluid transitions and displays which can be customized for navigation, climate, media control and others.
The surprise comes from the fact that Mercedes-Benz also works on a technology based on handwriting recognition and gesture controls for interior lighting. Cool, uh?
As about the applications, Mercedes intends to introduce Twitter and Facebook into COMAND system too, along with Stitcher radio and Pandora. It will even use Google Street View technology and Panoramio, in order to help drivers find the exactly destination of their journeys.
All these by the end of the year in Europe and probably in 2012 in USA, on SLK, C-Class, E-Class, CLS and M-Class models.
What do you think about these innovations?

Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series
The most powerful C-Class is here. Set to go on sale next spring, the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series will have a base price of around 100,000 pounds. Under the hood of this monster rests a massive AMG 6.3-liter V8 aspirated engine that has a new engine control unit, crankshaft and conrods, forged pistons as well as 50% bigger oil cooler.
Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series
This engine produces 619 hp and the power is sent via a 7-speed AMG Speedshift gearbox that uses a wet, dual-clutch instead of the regular fluid coupling. The transmission comes with four control settings and is able to change the gears in 100 miliseconds while in the Manual and Sport Plus modes. The C63 AMG Black Series benefits from a limited slip differential that improves handling and increases traction while the ESP stability control has three stages (one of these disables the system).
Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series
The chassis of the car has been updated and it now has wider tracks (40 mm more in the front and 75 mm in the rear), along with stiffer suspension anti-roll bars as well as “numerous setting options.” More hp requires more braking power and for this reason the German engineers have fitted the car with 390 mm disc brakes that are stopped by the 6-piston calipers for the front wheels while the ones in the back have 360 mm discs with 4-piston calipers.
Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series
As standard, the car comes with a two-seat cabin but customers are able to order it with a rear bench that has individual seats. Speaking of the race-style bucket seats, these have red-trimmed seatbelts with contrasting stitching.
Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series
The car will be available with an optional Track Package, a premiere for the Black Series, which consists of very sticky Dunlop tires along with a revised cooler installed in the rear bumper apron. In addition, it can also be equipped with the AMG Aerodynamic Package that has carbon fiber aerodynamic addons for the front bumper as well as a fixed, rear spoiler made out of carbon.

It seems that the new generation of the Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG is going to be powered by a new V8 5.5-liter engine. The car with this engine is set to make an official debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show which will be organized this September. This hand-built 5461 cc power unit is in fact a normally aspirated version of the massive V8 5.5-liter twin-turbo unit that powers the CLS63 AMG as well as the E63 AMG models.
They had to remove the twin turbos in order to keep the weight of the engine down to a minimum and now it weighs only 187 kg. In addition, according to a Mercedes-Benz inside, they didn’t want to make the more affordable SLK faster than the SL.
In comparison to the old V8 5.5-liter engine, the new engine is 60 hp more powerful which means that it is able to generate 416 hp and torque has also risen from the previous 376 lb.-ft to 398 lb.-ft. The good news don’t end here as the German engineers have managed to improve fuel economy by a whopping 30% while the CO2 emissions stand at 199 g/km. As standard, the new SLK55 AMG gets the stop/start system.
The new generation of the Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG is going to be offered with a brand new exhaust system with two independent silencer flaps in the back that at engine speeds below 2,000 rpm will stay closed and after that progressively open as the driver of the car applies more throttle. The aforementioned new V8 engine benefits from an F1-inspired AMG Cylinder Management shut-off system that allows the power unit to run on only four cylinders under partial loads in order to reduce the fuel consumption.
Also at Frankfurt, the German automaker will present a diesel version of the SLK, which will be a premiere as Mercedes has never installed a diesel engine in the sexy roadster. This SLK 250 CDI is going to be powered by a 4-cylinder turbodiesel that generates 201 hp, an engine that the company has been using on a lot of its models.
Both cars will arrive in the showrooms in early next year. According to various reports, the SLK55 AMG will have a base price of about 55,000 pounds while the diesel version will cost from 34,000 pounds.

2013 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG
The guys over at WorldCarFans grabbed a few spy shots this week with a 2013 Mercedes S63 AMG prototype while undergoing some tests on the Nurburgring. We can’t tell you anything about the design as the car is wearing a lot of camouflage but hopefully soon we’ll have more photos of the flagship performance sedan wearing less makeup.
2013 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG
The car is expected to feature a V8, twin-turbo 5.5-liter engine that should produce somewhere around 537 hp (544 PS / 400 kW) in the standard AMG variant and 563 hp (571 PS / 420 kW) for the model fitted with the AMG Performance Package. Most likely, this engine will be linked to a 7-speed Speedshift MCT transmission

The first customers who decide to buy the car will benefit from the limited “Edition 1” which consists from an AMG sports package for the outside and a few extra enhancements for the interior cabin.
In the United States, the SUV is going to be available only with the 350 engine, in two gasoline and done diesel variants. Set to make its official debut this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes has revealed the specifications of the upcoming 2012 B-Class, along with a couple of teaser shots. The all-new model is going to be 4359 mm long, 1786 mm wide and 1557 mm tall. After 1,000 hours of wind tunnel testing, the German engineers have managed an impressive drag coefficient of only 0.26.
In addition, the car will benefit from an ECO Technology package that includes underbody cladding, reduced ride height and improved window seals – all of which are meant to lower the drag coefficient to 0.24. Moreover, Mercedes-Benz will throw in a sports package that features modified dampers, a 20mm reduced ride height and a “direct-steer” system, whatever that means.
Tech-wise the upcoming generation of the B-Class is going to be offered with a lot of “Assist”: Active Parking Assist, Speed Limit Assist, Attention Assist, Blind Spot Assist & Lane Keeping Assist as well as Adaptive Headlamp Assist and Collision Prevention Assist (with Adaptive Brake Assist).
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz B-Class is going to be available with a wide selection of 4-cylinder turbocharged power units. The 1.6-liter gasoline unit develops 121 hp (122 PS / 90 kW) and has a peak torque of 147 lb.-ft (200 Nm) in the first configuration as there is a more powerful one that produces 154 hp (156 PS / 115 kW) and 184 lb.-ft (250 Nm).
If you prefer diesels, Mercedes offers a 1.8-liter unit that generates 107 hp (109 PS / 80 kW) and 184 lb.-ft (250 Nm) or 134 hp (136 PS / 100 kW) with 221 lb.-ft (300 Nm) of torque. Later on, a more powerful 2.0-liter gasoline engine will be offered.
All of these engines will get as standard the stop/start system and can be mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or the all-new dual-clutch 7-speed transmission. Mercedes also hinted something about some green variants of the B-Class, like an EV, a hybrid or a fuel-cell, but nothing is certain at the moment.
